EREV: Your Jewish Assistant
Shabbat times, kosher & siddur
Free · In‑App Purchases
Your siddur, all 150 Tehillim, times for every saved city and kosher scanning. Keep your everyday Jewish essentials together.
Your Jewish assistant, from morning to night. Find Shabbat times, open your prayer service and check a kosher product’s sources, together in one app.
SHABBAT AT A GLANCE
Start, end, day and city: keep the details together. Save several cities and view all their daily times without granting location access. Widgets, Live Activity and Apple Watch keep the next times within sight.
A LIBRARY FOR YOUR PRAYERS
Open weekday Shacharit, Mincha or Arvit directly. Browse collections for Shabbat, holidays and everyday moments. Find a passage through the contents or search.
The Hebrew siddur follows Edot HaMizrach, Torat Emet edition. Texts and instructions remain those of the edition; conditional passages are not all read consecutively. Follow your community’s practice.
ALL 150 TEHILLIM, IN FIVE BOOKS
Choose a book or search by number, familiar name or opening words. Follow daily Tehillim to read all 150 psalms over the Hebrew month, with an optional reminder.
READ AT YOUR OWN PACE
I keep your paragraph for your return. Pinch the text to resize it, choose line spacing and a reading appearance. Save passages, set a reading marker or hide extra controls to focus on your prayer. The texts are available offline.
Vocalized Hebrew text; French (Bible du Rabbinat, 1899) and English (JPS, 1917) translations for Tehillim. Interface and help in French, English, Spanish and Hebrew. The siddur is in Hebrew, with its original Hebrew and Aramaic instructions. Transliteration covers selected passages only.
SCAN BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
Scan a barcode or search by product name. I report information from the lists you follow: Consistoire, OU and the Amsterdam Beth Din, with the source and its conditions. Find your saved products and history.
A product missing from the lists remains unverified. A barcode alone cannot confirm a batch, factory or Passover certification. Product identification may need an internet connection.
YOUR ESSENTIALS, TOGETHER
Search for a city, prayer, holiday or product from Home. Explore the Israel or Diaspora calendar, weekly Torah portion, holidays and preparation guides. Find blessings by food.
On iPad and Mac, use the space to read and prepare; on Mac, search products by name. Watch receives times from your paired iPhone and keeps them until they expire. Settings transfer as a copy, without automatic synchronization.
Support through in-app purchases is optional. General statistics can be turned off in More > Privacy. Detailed journeys and diagnostics require your agreement.
I name my sources and their conditions. I don’t replace your rabbi.
Open EREV and find what you need now.

YOUR TIMES, YOUR CITIES
A new Times tab brings your favorite cities together: local time, Shabbat entry and exit. Add a city, switch between cities and find the calendar right beside them.
ON YOUR WRIST
On Apple Watch, check the next time and upcoming dates for the city chosen on your iPhone. Previously received data stays available offline until it expires. Complications give you a reference on your watch face.
MORE ROOM
On iPad and Mac, the calendar, preparations and reading make use of the larger screen. On Mac, use menus and keyboard shortcuts. Vision Pro runs the iPad version adapted for a window.
GETTING STARTED
A new introduction, animated demonstrations and installation steps help you find your way. Widgets are clearer and open the relevant day. You can transfer a copy of your preferences and lists between devices. The grouping of mitzvot for Shabbat and several holidays has been corrected.
3.9.0 Oct 11
A holiday is coming: let me help you get ready.
From the home screen, find the holiday’s days and times for your city. Add your preparations, tick off what is done and find your checklist when you return. Each holiday has its own checklist, kept on your phone, with no account.
You can edit and reorder your preparations, reuse an existing checklist with its boxes unticked, and open the holiday guide and its available texts.
Home is shorter: the prayer for now moves up, holidays and preparations are grouped together, and the calendar keeps the full programme. On your first launch after updating, discover 3.8 and try holiday preparations directly. You can reopen this introduction from “What’s new”.
I have also refined Coca-Cola Original recognition, corrected the day count when Shabbat and a holiday follow one another, and fixed how Hoshana Rabbah appears in the calendar. Information about the Beth Din of Amsterdam list has been updated.
Available in French, English, Spanish and Hebrew.
3.8.0 Sep 24
I’ve corrected holiday and fast times, including Yom Kippur and the Fast of Gedaliah. The home screen keeps both the start and end of a fast visible, even after it begins. Times follow your selected city, and Hanukkah times are consistent across screens. If the calculation method cannot provide an end time, I let you know.
3.7.2 Sep 13
Your next few days are clear at a glance, each holiday in its place on the Jewish calendar. For Rosh Hashanah I open a space of its own: the sound of the shofar, a letter to your future self, and a game built on the simanim, the symbolic foods of the New Year table. Come Friday, your Shabbat times are waiting before you think to look, and the kosher scanner is never far.
3.7.1 Sep 10
Until Yom Kippur, three experiences await on your home screen.
The shofar: hold to sound the calls. Share the sound you just played, with your own words.
Your letter: take a moment for yourself, write, then seal the envelope. I’ll return it during next year’s event.
Matching pairs: eight boards to unlock, a Challenge mode with a timer and limited help, and a Relax mode without the pressure. Learn the rules through a playable example and replay boards you’ve already unlocked.
Sharing is simpler, with a message or a card. Holiday guides are easier to reach, and returning from prayers is more straightforward. Choose a food and its blessing appears in front of you as the keyboard closes.
Reminders open the right content, with clearer settings. You choose whether to receive a reminder for the prayer after a meal with bread.
These changes are available in all four languages.
3.7.0 Sep 9
Saturday, 10:45pm. The little one is asleep. You are holding the braided candle in one hand and the phone in the other. Erev was waiting for you.
HAVDALAH IS HERE
The vocalized text, one blessing at a time, in large letters, on a screen that does not go dark while you read. It shows up after your city's own end time, never before. And until you have said it, it stays: the app waits for you.
THE TOP OF THE SCREEN GIVES YOU A TIME
And the right day. On Thursday, shopping day, it has already moved to Shabbat. On the eve of Yom Kippur it says Yom Kippur.
IT ALL WORKS OUT ON YOUR PHONE
Times, holidays, the parasha. On a plane, on the subway, abroad: it is there, with no network. And in Jerusalem, Pesach lasts seven days.
EREV STOPS SOUNDING LIKE A MACHINE
Sentences now, with the name of your city. And nothing buzzes during Shabbat, a holiday or a fast.
The rest is waiting inside.

3.6.0 Aug 23
Erev is ready for the holidays of Tishrei.
TISHREI, TO THE MINUTE
The times for the three Shabbatot that run straight into a Yom Tov, for the Fast of Gedaliah and for Yom Kippur are now locked down by tests, city by city. And when a holiday follows Shabbat, the app no longer wishes you "Shavua Tov": it announces the holiday.
TWO HOLIDAYS THAT WERE MISSING
Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah finally have their own guide: the story, the essentials, what people do, what to avoid, the sources. Israel and the diaspora are both described, without ever deciding for you. The library now holds 25 holiday guides.
PRAYERS SET STRAIGHT
The Ashkenazi Amidah finally has its own blessing labels, and so does Birkat Hamazon. Baruch Shem is back in the bedtime Shema. A word that does not exist has been removed from the Hebrew text. In the Edot HaMizrach rite, the app says plainly that it currently serves the Sephardi text. Every label exists in four languages.
TISHREI IN YOUR CALENDAR
Tap a day in the calendar: its sheet finally opens, with the times for your city. "Add to Calendar" places ONE single event there, from Friday evening to Sunday evening when the holiday runs straight on from Shabbat. Nothing syncs behind your back, and Erev never reads your calendar.
HOLIDAY NAMES IN YOUR LANGUAGE
Twenty-nine holiday names still came out in English: the Fast of Gedaliah, Shemini Atzeret, seven Israeli civil days. They are now translated in all four languages. And "Shabbat Rosh Chodesh" is no longer announced backwards.
SUPPORTING EREV
A clearer screen to support the app, with the amount you choose. And Erev no longer asks you for anything during Shabbat, a holiday or a fast. The essentials stay free, as always.
A COUNTDOWN THAT HOLDS
The Live Activity now updates instead of vanishing, no longer flickers when the app restarts, and always aims at the right deadline.
SHARING AND SCANNING
The times card you share now carries the app link with it. And with no signal, the scanner says "No network" instead of blaming the product.
SPANISH FIXED
Lost accents are back, and the prayer countdown finally speaks Spanish.

3.5.0 Aug 5
Erev 3.4: visible and solid.
YOUR SETTINGS, FINALLY HOME
A real Settings screen: city, language, theme, prayer rite, notifications and calculation methods, all in one place.
A THREE-STEP START
New welcome flow: pick your city and the app already answers "Shabbat starts Friday at 9:00 PM". Two minutes and everything is ready.
SHARE AS A CARD
Shabbat times now share as a clean, beautiful image card, ready for the family.
OUR METHODS, IN PLAIN SIGHT
A page explains every calculation convention (starts, ends, fast endings), so you can check for yourself.
AND EVERYWHERE
The app truly speaks its four languages down to the permission dialogs, fast endings are notified at the right local time, and dozens of refinements.
3.4.0 Jul 29
Erev now thinks ahead for you, at the right moment. On the home screen, a discreet reminder appears when it matters: the day before a fast with its times, before Rosh Hashana, on the night of Kol Nidrei, even the week when custom sets meat aside before Tisha B'Av. One line a day at most, never more.
When holidays cluster, like in Tishrei, a small timeline shows the period at a glance: Rosh Hashana, the Fast of Gedaliah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, with their start and end times.
Tap "Next holiday": the card unfolds with all the details, and a button shares the times with your family on WhatsApp.
Fast end times in France now follow the French calendars' stringency, Yom Kippur included.
And the prayers now match your rite: Sephardi or Ashkenazi, every text faithfully follows your community's tradition, with a simple setting.
Tishrei is coming: Erev is ready.
3.3.0 Jul 21
Tuesday night in New York, Friday noon in Paris: you open Erev and the Shabbat times are already there. The Jewish calendar is now instant, and it works with no signal at all, on a plane, deep inside a store.
Shabbat start and end, fasts, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Chanukah candle lighting: precise times city by city, Jerusalem included. Notifications keep up, fast reminders included.
The kosher scanner is steadier and clearer: it tells you what your lists actually cover, down to Coke Zero.
Shabbat shalom.
3.2.0 Jul 18
The scanner goes v2 — you see it, you feel it, and it always tells the truth.
• Kosher by nature: plain water, salt, sugar, honey, pure coffee and tea come out green with the explanation — these products need no certification at all.
• The whole screen takes the verdict's color: a breathing green glow for yes, amber for doubt, red for no. And the phone vibrates differently for each answer — you know before you read.
• Even fairer verdicts: every list is applied exactly as written, product by product, variety by variety.
• No more dead ends: product not listed? Search opens pre-filled with its name.
• Reporting an error now sends the full context (photo, barcode, sources) — and copies itself if you have no mail app.
• "Before eating" now knows everyday foods: chips, popcorn, hummus, nutella, chewing gum…
3.1.0 Jul 10
Thank you for your feedback on the scanner — this update gives it the precision it deserved.
• Kosher scanner: products in the official lists are now recognized, even when the scanned name differs from the official one.
• Fairer verdicts: Kosher · Listed with a condition · Brand in your lists (with varieties to compare) · Not kosher when the label declares crustaceans, molluscs or pork · Manufacturer stamp flagged.
• Each list is applied by its own rule, with its jurisdiction shown (Consistoire — France, OU — international).
• Weekly parasha: fixed a cache that could show an outdated parasha.
• Display fixes: last entry of More, Calendar and Library screens was hidden by the navigation bar.
3.0.1 Jul 8
Erev 3.0 — our biggest update yet.
• Shabbat live on your lock screen (Live Activity + Dynamic Island)
• Kosher scanner: instant verdict, sources shown, ingredients, kosher fish
• Redesigned home: it knows what you need, right now
• Instant calendar, Fridays and Shabbat in gold
• Four light themes + faster navigation
Thank you for your feedback — it shapes Erev. erev.app@gmail.com
3.0.0 Jul 7
Version 2.2.0 turns EREV into a real prayer companion.
• New Prayers tab — 13 essential prayers: Modeh Ani, morning and bedtime Shema, Amidah, Friday-night Kiddush, Netilat Yadayim, HaMotzi, Birkat HaMazon, Tefilat HaDerech, Psalm 23, candle lighting, Asher Yatzar. Vocalized Hebrew + transliteration + translation, aligned verse by verse.
• Sefaria-sourced texts — Verses come from Sefaria (CC BY-SA), the open standard for Jewish texts. Bundled, works offline.
• Show what you want — Three independent toggles (Hebrew / Phonetic / Translation). Hide any layer; your choice is remembered across every prayer.
• Verse-level cues — "Shabbat only", "First night of a Yom Tov", "Silently", "Bare essentials", "To go deeper"… You always know what you're saying and when.
• Blessings picker — Type "apple", "coke", "pasta": the app recognizes ~300 foods and tells you the bracha. Visual picker with 6 icons too.
• Smart countdowns — "Before 8:12 — Sof Zman Shema" on the morning tile, "in 2h15" on Friday's candle tile. Urgent prayers turn amber.
• Compass link — From Amidah or Tefilat HaDerech, a button to face Jerusalem.
• Birkat HaMazon reminder — Mark HaMotzi as said and a gentle reminder fires 25 minutes later.
• Haptics throughout — Tile taps, toggles, "I said it" confirmations: tactile feedback everywhere.
• Shabbat & holiday notifications fixed — Scheduling engine rebuilt. Reminders resume correctly after every update.
2.2.0 May 20
Version 2.0.2 mainly improves timing reliability and startup consistency.
Restart location fixed: the app now restores the last known place and silently refreshes the current position when possible.
Local time display fixed: resolved a timezone issue that could show an hour behind on some screens.
Shabbat times refined: better handling of the actual timezone and daylight-saving logic for displayed times.
Smarter Shabbat exit in France: automatic mode now follows a convention that better matches widely used references.
Faster holiday startup: first holiday content appears sooner, while the wider range continues loading in the background.
Study screen dark-mode polish: improved card readability and removed a washed-out overlay on some lists.
