Demolish the tyranny of too much choice, say "NO" to BigAlgo, and just Relax with Coax.
Within seconds, you'll be flipping through a schedule made entirely of your own Plex Media Server content. Jump right in with the on-screen cable guide and watch whatever's on, just like the old days.
You can't pause, you can't skip forward, you can't rewind - all you can do is change the channel. Experience the joy of randomly happening upon a great scene in a movie you forgot you had, or a TV show marathon for an old favorite.
Coax requires no setup at all - it uses the metadata your media library already has. If you want, you can create your own custom Lineups, with all sorts of simple yet powerful scheduling rules - create a Saturday Morning Cartoons Lineup for your inner (or actual) child, or a Late Night Thrillers Lineup for date night.
Important: This app requires a Plex account and access to a Plex Media Server. Coax does not provide or distribute any media; it only connects to content you already own.
How to configure your Lineups:
• Coax scans your Plex libraries and generates a channel guide based on your content’s metadata.
• Select which channel categories you want: Genre, Decade, Recent Additions, Actor, Studio, Director, and Collections.
• Create 100% custom channels using Plex Collections.
• Unify your libraries to mix TV and movie channels.
• Adjust the number of channels you want to generate.
• Customize the time between your programs with Gap Content - play Trailers, or content from another Library if you want!
Coax is your personal “cable box” for your own content — no extra accounts, no third-party streaming, just your Plex library organized in a fun, nostalgic way.

I really love the way this app helps me find endless content to watch that has been languishing way too long on my Plex server and just had to buy it. It’s such a cool retro implementation that’s fun for us oldies who remember the way it used to be before everything was available on demand. Having said that there are a few features that would take it to the next level for me that would make it a 5 star app and my everyday go to for content discovery such as:1. Being able to select any combination of genres or other parameters to build a custom schedule from. I have a ton of sci fi and would love to be able to have an entire schedule of just sci fi content to peruse. Or maybe I just want to see a schedule of movies from 1979 e.g.2. The ability to save the above described custom schedules as presets.3. The ability to select content items from any cell in the guide view.4. A long press to bring up the option to play the currently viewed item from beginning, and/or to open it directly in Plex to play. These features would be game changers for me. Keep up the good work helping us to discover and rediscover what we already have!

Best Purchase since Infuse Pro and Plex Pass

This app is the perfect compliment to my suite of media server apps. Works flawlessly, a cinch to get going with, dramatically reduces decision fatigue, and it’s a really fun way to explore the content I already have but might have forgotten about, or knew I had but there’s just something different about scrolling show/movie thumbnails vs this model which replicates the experience of “appointment television” and what it all felt like before on-demand or streaming … dropping you right into a show and immediately reminding you what you loved about it. Giving you an engaging and immersive way to flip through your library … I can’t put into words what a value add this is to my setup. Great work. Truly.
Disappointing Pricing

I tried COAX during the TestFlight period and while it is a cool product, the developer has admitted to heavy use of AI, which would have been fine IF he hadn’t given the community a whole sob story about how much time and effort he had put in and needed to price it at the astronomical price of $60. This software would have already been overpriced at that number, but the fact that it is basically a vibe coded weekend project makes that number even more wild. Now that alternatives are showing up I will be looking to them.

Thanks for testing out Coax during the beta!
Love this app!

For the past 30 years, I had subscriptions for HBO, Cinemax, etc and anytime I would turn on the TV, I would only watch the movie channels to avoid commercials. This gives me that exact same experience and it works beautifully with Plex! Price is def a little high but since I was able to ditch 2 of my cable boxes, I’m gonna be saving money after about 5 months. An incredible app and it just keeps getting better with every update.
