Clearer data tags, smoother STAR arrivals, and a rating you can correct. Data tags: the callsign on each radar tag is now white, as easy to read as the lines below it. When two aircraft draw close, their tags move apart to opposite sides, each with a short line back to its aircraft. Arrivals: an aircraft flying a standard arrival (STAR) now appears on the edge of the radar where its route begins, so it no longer crosses the whole map, and often the airport, to reach its first fix. Descents: an altitude you give an aircraft on a STAR now sticks: it no longer climbs or descends back to the STAR's altitude at the next fix, and keeps the route and its speeds. Ratings: if you tap the wrong star when rating a level or an episode, tap the one you meant. It replaces your first rating. Thanks to the players who reported all of these.

Flatout ATC now speaks Japanese, fits better on every iPhone, and starts each shift more smoothly. Japanese: the whole game is now in Japanese, including the Academy, every level, the three seasons of The Watch and the Home Screen widget. Relay names written in Japanese, Chinese or Korean can be two characters long. Every language: level names and descriptions are now translated in all six languages, and so is the Home Screen widget. Radio readbacks use standard aviation English in every language, the same words the voice speaks. A better fit: on smaller iPhones and in longer languages, buttons, titles and cards are no longer cut off, from the Start Shift button and the level sheet to the season cards, the Daily Challenge, the intro cards, the oceanic board and the command grid. When a command picker is open on an iPhone, the screen makes room for it, and the panels beside it no longer change the selected aircraft by mistake. Smoother starts: the map now draws in the background as a shift begins, so the screen no longer pauses while it loads. Also fixed: your live position, shift goal and relay name are remembered between launches, and VoiceOver reads only the results at the end of a shift.

Rush Hour, Atlanta on the ground, radar alerts, a rebuilt USS Carrier, and a New in 3.6 shelf at the top of the catalogue. Rush Hour: a new way to play Endless. Traffic comes in long waves, arrivals first, then a short turnaround, then the departures, flown by the airport's own fleet, with more aircraft in the air at once than Endless at the same difficulty. Each airport keeps its own Rush Hour best. Atlanta on the ground: Hartsfield-Jackson joins ground control with its real runway split. Arrivals land on the outer runways and departures leave from the inner pair. Radar alerts: an amber line joins two aircraft that will lose separation unless you act, and counts down the seconds, and a departure ready for Center blinks until you hand it off. You can switch both off in Settings. USS Carrier, rebuilt around the moving ship: the new Marshal command sends fighters to a holding stack behind the deck and helicopters to a holding point beside it, and new fighters check in already on their way to the stack. A board shows the deck and the next fighter, the deck counts down before it turns, and every fighter's landing is graded. New in 3.6: the shelf at the top of the catalogue holds Atlanta's ground and Rush Hour at Detroit, Dubai and Haneda, each marked NEW until you open it. Help in the shift: the ? button now explains flight strips, handoffs, the wind, sending a helicopter to its pad and getting more traffic, the same on iPhone and iPad. On iPad the Handoff button is in the menu before it arms, grey, and says why. Each difficulty now says what it changes. Also fixed: thunderstorms no longer settle over an airport, the radar's wind arrow turns whenever the wind changes and the ground screen's arrow now points to where the wind comes from, a go-around never descends and reads back the altitude it flies, a live shift that meets its goal counts as complete and can be rated, two taxiing aircraft no longer stop at the same hold line, helipads are listed by the names the radar shows, and many lines that appeared only in English are now translated.

Detroit Metro: six runways on four parallels at Delta's hub, with Willow Run, Coleman Young downtown, Windsor across the river and Selfridge to the north. The published arrivals and departures are flown by name, over eighty real fixes fill the airspace, and the Great Lakes frame the picture. Gauntlet: Washington: ten rungs over the Dulles world, with National joining at the third and a crossing runway at the eighth. The wind stays out of the south all the way up. Hold short: every aircraft on a ground shift now holds short of the runway unless you say otherwise. Taxi a departure and it stops at the hold line and waits for Cleared for takeoff. A flight whose route crosses a runway waits for Cross Runway. Your progress no longer needs Game Center to survive. It is saved on the device and carried into your account the first time you sign in. The debrief now says what happened: every procedure violation and every conflict is listed with the flights involved, and the daily challenge shows the best score the shift could have scored. Also: airport names are spoken as names in readbacks instead of spelled out; time acceleration steps down one rung after you land, and a long press holds it; the terrain callout no longer cries wolf on valley approaches; thunderstorms are no longer born on the carrier's arrival path; departures climb out and cruise at sensible speeds; Dulles departures fly the published routes; and map labels stay readable when you zoom out.

Fixes the Gauntlet: a rung resumed after the app was closed mid-shift now keeps its examiner, so finishing it counts toward the ladder. Previously the resumed shift ran unjudged and the pass was never recorded.

Fixes the Manchester Gauntlet: on The Neighbour and The Long Night, arrivals for Liverpool can now be cleared to land at Liverpool, and Enter Pattern flies them there.

Three new Gauntlets and a new kind of check ride. Gauntlet: Heathrow runs the night bank on both parallels. Gauntlet: Manchester is the segregation check on two close parallels, built from the real AIP, and Manchester arrives as a full airport too. North Sea Watch is the first rescue Gauntlet: Stavanger Sola, the Johan Sverdrup platform 99 miles offshore, twelve rungs, cooperative searches with several helicopters, search patterns over a drifting datum, a state aircraft on station, and a night finale in sea state six. Two new commands come with it: Search Pattern and On Station. Ground Endless on Vancouver, Solberg and Scottsdale: no finish line, arrivals that build and ease, a personal best per airport. Also: helicopters spin their rotors on the radar, a weather marker on the data tag shows which aircraft are dodging a storm, an arrival beside a departure climbing off the parallel is no longer scored as a mid-air, the Gauntlet's out-of-plays message now offers the base game instead of a dead end, and more of the game now reads in German, Spanish, French and Italian.

The Gauntlet: the start button on the Tower Home hero card could do nothing at all once you had passed a rung. Fixed, with thanks to the player who reported it. And when a check ride cannot start for a real reason, the brief now tells you why instead of closing silently.

London, Manchester and every live region: the Handoff button now arms when you are established outbound past the exit fix, instead of making you fly all the way to the boundary ring. The pill tells you which fix to pass. Purchases that need a parent's approval now say so. The unlock screen shows a waiting banner, the buy button stops repeating itself, and a purchase that completes while the app is closed is picked up properly next time you open it.

Relay shifts. Hand your shift to the next controller. Every aircraft, every clearance and the weather go with it, and the shift returns to the board when they are done. Nothing moves after the final whistle, an expired emergency counts against you as it should, and traffic patterns survive a saved game. Crashes between aircraft you never controlled are no longer charged to you, and a shift left in the background comes back instead of being lost. - Also fixed. A fast turn onto final no longer carries an aircraft past the far end of the airport, and aircraft rotate at their own speeds rather than one shared speed.
