One sudoku a day, the same board for everyone. No timers or scores while you play: the background slowly changes as you make progress. Finish the puzzle and see how your time compares with every other player that day, then wait for tomorrow's sudoku.
Three mistakes end your attempt, so every move counts.
Hold a digit to pencil it in; notes clear themselves as digits land on the board. A key gets a corner tab once all nine of its digit are placed. Left yesterday's sudoku unfinished? You can still complete it the next day, before it's replaced.
