KNOW EXACTLY WHEN MATCHING CLOSES No more guessing when the week wraps up. Your Slots screen now shows a live countdown to when this week's matching closes, so you always know how much time you have left to make your move. RATE YOUR DATE SPOT Been on a date? Drop a quick star rating for the venue when you're done. It takes five seconds and helps keep our venue guide accurate for the next person who goes. REDEEM TANGO DEALS ON THE SPOT Checked in somewhere with a Tango Deal? Redeem it right in the app the moment you arrive. No coupon, no code, no hassle. CAN'T FIND SOMETHING? TELL US Missing your class, org, cuisine, drink, or vibe from our lists? Suggest it in a couple taps. If enough people ask for the same thing, it moves up our list faster. A SMARTER WAY TO REFRESH YOUR INTERESTS Redoing your interests now comes with an AI-reviewed pass before you save, including a fresh bio suggestion so your profile always sounds like you. Plus some polish throughout: cleaner copy, a smoother invite flow, and a few small visual touch-ups.

This update is focused on Couples Mode. If you're on Tango as a single, more is coming. Here's everything that's new for couples. COLLABORATIVE DATE PLANNING Planning a date used to fall on one person. Not anymore. The new flow works in three steps. Set Your Availability: Both partners independently pick the days and time windows that work for them over the next one to four weeks. Morning, afternoon, evening, or night. Select your windows and Tango finds where both of you overlap. Vote on the Plan: Once a plan is generated from your shared availability, both partners see the proposed itinerary and vote yes or no independently. If you both say yes, the date is locked. If either votes no, you can re-roll and generate a new proposal automatically. Counter-Propose: Like the plan but want a different day or time? Don't reject it outright. Submit a counter-proposal with your preferred date and time. Your partner reviews it and accepts or declines, keeping the back-and-forth inside Tango instead of a text thread. DAILY SPARKS Send your partner one spark per day: a short, intentional message that keeps the connection going between dates. Partners can nudge each other if the day is almost up and no spark has arrived. Spark history is saved so you can look back on everything you've sent each other. FRIENDS & GROUPS FOR COUPLES The Friends tab, private Friend Groups, group chat, Date Safety Sharing, and Share the Tea features introduced in the last update are now fully available to couples users. Everything works the same. Find friends by @handle, create groups, and go into your dates with your crew watching your back.

This is the biggest update we've shipped. Friend Groups bring your real-life inner circle into Tango so your crew can be part of your dating life — privately, safely, and on your terms. Here's everything that's new. FRIEND GROUPS Create a private group with your closest friends using an invite code, or join one someone sends you. Groups have a name, an emoji, and an optional photo. Creators control membership, can remove members, and can choose whether other members can invite people in. Every group gets its own dedicated chat. A GROUP CHAT THAT ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING This isn't just a text thread. Tango's group chat supports seven different message types built specifically for the dating context: Text & Photos — Send messages, react with emojis, reply to specific messages, and share photos with captions. Long-press any message to react or reply. Your own messages can be deleted. Date Night — Heading out? Share your upcoming date with the group — your partner's first name and photo, the venue, the date and time, dress code, and a personal note. Your group sees a live status card that updates from Upcoming to Active to Completed. Share a Profile — Drop a match from your feed or date history into the group chat and ask for opinions. Choose your prompt ("Red flag or green flag?", "Hot or not?", "Second date worthy?") and let your people weigh in. The shared person is never notified, and no contact info is ever included. Ask for Advice — Run a poll three ways. Ask a custom yes/no or multiple choice question. Rate a specific local venue from Tango's directory. Or pull in an upcoming date and ask "Should I go?" — the group votes, you decide. Date Recap — After a date, post a full debrief to the group. Rate it on a five-emoji scale, add a one-line blurb, and share whether you'd see them again. Linked to your actual date itinerary when available. Safety Share — Start a live location share directly from the group chat. More on this below. Reactions & Replies — Every message supports emoji reactions and threaded replies. Typing indicators show when someone's composing, and the online member count appears live in the header. SAFETY SHARE Before any date, open the group chat and tap Safety Share. Choose how long you want to share — 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, or all night. Your live GPS location is broadcast to your group in real time and updates every 15 seconds. Group members see your location on a live map with a mini preview card right in the chat. If anything feels off, tap SOS to instantly alert every member of your group. They see your name, the time the alert was sent, and your exact location. When you're safe, cancel the SOS and your group is notified that everything is okay. Your location data is automatically deleted from our servers the moment the share ends or expires. FRIENDS & DIRECT MESSAGES You can now connect with friends directly on Tango — completely separate from your dating matches. Find people using their unique @handle or by letting Tango match against your contacts. Send a friend request, and once accepted, message each other in a dedicated friends inbox that never expires. Friend chats never show up in your dating history or Past Dates. They live in their own space. Tap a friend's profile from any group chat to view their full Tango profile, send them a direct message, or remove them from your friends list. PER-GROUP NOTIFICATION CONTROLS Every group has its own notification settings. Toggle messages, polls, profile shares, date shares, date recaps, safety shares, and member events on or off independently — per group. SOS alerts are always on and cannot be disabled. Your group, your rules. UNDER THE HOOD Friend direct messages are now fully separated from dating matches at the database level, so friend chats never accidentally appear in your Past Dates section. We also tightened our backend security with stricter API permissions on all new friend-related functions.

This update brings several improvements to help you find better matches. • Preference counts: The match count banner now accurately reflects your preferences and other filters, so you can see how your choices affect your pool in real time. • Location reporting: Spot outdated info on a date spot and flag wrong hours, closed venues, or incorrect details directly from the location page. • Courses: Your shared courses are now part of your profile and factor into how well you connect with potential matches. • Match archive: Completed weekly matches now show a "Final Pick Complete" card so you always know where things stand. • Edit Preferences shortcut: When your match feed is running low, an "Edit Preferences" button appears to help you broaden your search. • Bug fixes and stability improvements.

Each week, you'll receive a curated set of compatible matches on Monday. Browse, connect, and make your final pick by Thursday night. Then spend your weekend actually going on the date. What's new: Weekly matches, built around you. Profiles are now selected each week using your major, class year, schedule, living situation, and social style for more meaningful pairings. Student Life profile. Tell us more about yourself: your campus involvement, study habits, favorite date spots, and more. The more you share, the better your matches. Always-on connection. Tango now detects when you're offline and keeps your experience stable until you're back. Smarter onboarding. A smoother, more guided setup so you can get to your first match faster.

Your profile just got a lot more you. We've added a whole new Student Life section to your profile. Have the option to share your major, minor, graduation year, living situation, Greek life, campus orgs, current courses, and how you like to study. The more you fill in, the better your matches. Shared signals on match profiles. When you view someone's profile, you'll now see badges for things you have in common: same major, shared organizations, or classes you're both taking this semester. Date Spots. Pick the campus and off-campus locations you'd actually want to go on a date. When you and a match share a spot, it surfaces right on their profile so you always have somewhere to suggest. Smarter matching. Your preferences now filter the feed. Matches are ranked by schedule overlap, location, and what you're looking for, so the people you see are more relevant to you.
