A reading app should be easy to open and hard to put down. We spent the summer on the first half. This is the biggest update Pagio has had since it launched. HOME Your library had quietly taken on a second job. Streak at the top, goals in the middle, whatever you were reading wedged in above the shelves. All useful, all in the wrong place, and together they turned a library into a dashboard. So they've moved to Home, which is where the app opens now: what you're in the middle of, how your streak is doing, where your goals stand, and the book you've lined up next. Your library gets to go back to being a library. UP NEXT You already have a to-read pile. It's mental, it's never written down, and it rearranges itself every time a friend won't shut up about something. Up Next is that pile with an address. Add books from anywhere in the app, drag them into the order you actually mean, and the one on top gets the good seat on Home. Start reading it and it slips out of the queue without being asked, which is more than can be said for the stack on your nightstand. STATISTICS The old stats tab told you what you'd read. This one tells you what kind of reader you are, and it brought receipts. Four sections instead of three, Overview, Collection, Habits and History, and most of it can be pointed at any month or year you have data for. Which genres, publishers and formats your shelves quietly lean on, and how much of your money agrees. Whether you're a morning reader who's been telling people otherwise, how long you last in one sitting, how often you finish what you start. History keeps a calendar of every day you read, your year laid out month by month, and a small pile of personal records that exist to be beaten. MONTHLY RECAP Sharing your reading month used to mean sharing a calendar. Now it means four artwork styles, ten backgrounds, three shapes, and a live preview you can nudge until the whole thing looks effortless. Eleven attempts in private, one post. Nobody has to know. LIBRARY And it didn't only give things up. Your authors, genres, tags and publishers used to live in Settings, filed somewhere between your reminders and the legal notices, or tucked behind your stats. Strange place to keep the people who wrote your books. They've moved into the library, each with a section of its own, next to books, collections and series. That's four more ways in: by who wrote a book, what kind it is, how you labeled it, and who published it. On iPad it's all sitting in the sidebar. Settings, meanwhile, is a deeply boring screen these days, exactly as intended. Plenty more changed that isn't written up here. You'll bump into it.

Publishers grew up. They quietly arrived last update; this time we gave them a proper home. Every book can now carry its publisher, logo and all, and a new corner of your stats lets you wander your library by who put the books out. Turns out the name on the spine has a story too. The covers fill themselves in. Pagio now goes looking for publisher logos and author portraits on its own, so your shelves arrive dressed and ready instead of full of blank squares waiting on you. You read; we'll handle the headshots.

No headline feature this time. Just a hundred small things that add up. We went through the app with a fine-tooth comb and left almost nothing untouched. Some screens got smarter, some flows got shorter, some rough edges got filed down so quietly you'll just think the app was always this way. That's the goal, really.

Remember the book search? It just got a lot bigger. We rebuilt it from the ground up. Book came out this morning? Chances are we already have it. Go ahead, try to find one we don't. And if you somehow do, you can always add it manually. We'll catch up. iPad users, you now get proper multi-window support. A book and your library side by side, or two windows at once. Your iPad finally gets to stretch.

Books come in series. Now your library knows that too. Group books together, put them in order, track your progress through the whole run. You can now re-read books and mark them as abandoned too. Because sometimes you love a book enough to go back, and sometimes you just don't. Both are valid. Missed a day of reading? Your streak survives one rest day now. You earned it. One more. Shelves, collections, series, genres, tags can now be converted into each other. That shelf that outgrew itself? One tap and it's a collection. The rest is the kind of tinkering you won't see but your thumbs will thank us for.

Collections have arrived. Shelves let you tag books loosely. Collections let you line them up with intent. Build reading lists, curate themed sets, nest collections inside each other. Think of shelves as "this book belongs here" and collections as "these books go in this order, and I have thoughts about why". One more thing. Long-press the app icon on your home screen. You'll find shortcuts to jump straight into reading, scanning, or searching. Small touch, big time saver.

Shelves are here. Until now, every book had one spot in your library. Now you can create your own shelves and a book can live on as many as you want at once. "Comfort rereads", "Beach reads 2026", "Books I keep recommending". Your library, your rules. Pin your favorite shelves as tabs at the top of your library and drag them into whatever order feels right. One tap and you're there. Reading sessions now show up as a Live Activity on your Apple Watch too. Start a timer on your phone, glance at your wrist, pause when the tea's ready. No need to come up for air mid-chapter.

This one's got a label on it. Several, actually. You can now tag your books, assign them to any book, and filter your library by them. Organize to your heart's content. We also taught the search to forgive your typos. Close enough is now good enough. Beyond that, more polishing, more tightening. If the app feels a little more put-together lately, it's not your imagination.

Pull up a chair for this one. You can now search millions of books by title, author, or ISBN and add them straight to your library. Think of it as a bookstore with no closing hours and no judgmental cashier. Beyond that, we've been tinkering all over the place. A little smoother here, a little snappier there. Too many small improvements to list, but you might catch yourself thinking "huh, that feels nicer" and yes, that was on purpose.

This one you'll notice. Import your library from Kindle, Goodreads, or any CSV file. Throw whatever columns you have at us and we'll figure it out. It should feel like magic. If it doesn't, we'll keep working until it does. Don't feel like typing in book details by hand? Same. Point your camera at a barcode and we'll fill in the rest. It's the least we could do for your thumbs. Oh, and books can now have more than one author. Turns out some people collaborate. Who knew.
