it doesn’t matter whether you’re a seasoned turntablist sitting on crates of rare vinyl, a newly DJ-curious music lover who’s still just trying to wrap your head around the core concepts of playing tunes together, or somewhere along the journey in between - this is the app for you! it does absolutely everything you may need to start honing your skills, training your ears and finding some funky new tracks to blend. i’m blown away with how simple, effective and approachable it is. you can hand the phone over to anyone and they’ll figure it out pretty much instantly. easy enough to explain to a complete beginner by saying “its like wordle for DJing!” and off they go, cueing and nudging away in search of the tempo that feels right, that makes things lock in and groove. as a vinyl DJ with an obnoxiously long wordle streak going, it feels like a perfect mix (pun intended) of my niche interests. not to mention, a good old fashioned global leaderboard to keep things exciting! the practice mode is amazing, being able to shuffle tracks together at random and see how close you can get by relying on your ears alone really makes you listen deeply. the performance mode, with its BPM analysis, timestretching and ability to play tracks off of a rekordbox formatted USB is the cherry on top. seriously, it’s so good i can’t believe we’ve had to endure for this long without an app like this. calling it a CDJ killer would be an overstatement, but i do plan on challenging my friends to go b2b using nothing but our phones. it’s interface is charmingly minimal, harkening back to an early-internet era of stumbling across a browser based gem you didn’t know existed; maybe didn’t think was possible TO exist… but now you can’t live without, which is the best feeling! no frills, just all the raw power and utility of having two Technics (and a great bag of records, might i add) inside your phone. sure, it can be a tiny bit buggy in it’s current state, but i simply can’t be bothered because every time i use the app i’m having fun for free99. would it be cool to have some fancy MIDI-over-bluetooth integration, practice mode that allows the shuffling of your own tracks, or multiple channels and wide tempo ranges in performance mode? absolutely! for now i’m just grateful that this exists and know i’ll get to watch it evolve over time. you can feel the passion that went into the project and for that i thank the devs! but really, why are you even still reading this? just download the app already! maybe you’ll catch up to me on the leaderboards ;)
Thank you so much for your response and support! I've just added wide tempo to performance mode thanks to this feedback. Lots of good ideas for future developments as well so keep an eye out for new features and bug fixes, I tend to announce them on the instagram page.
