I’ve been looking around for a good Bluesky app for the iPad, since the official app and many other apps have very poor support for it. So far I mostly like the overall layout and UI, and I have an iPad mini, which often isn’t great with even Apple’s optimized iPad apps. Keeping that in mind, I think that the profile section could use some work. It’s very cramped and doesn’t properly display all the entirety of saved or liked posts. It cuts them off on the sides, and I just think that the profile should have its own full screen tab, or at least the liked and saved posts should so viewing them is nicer. I’ve notice less of a post is cut off in landscape than in portrait, but portrait is still cut off. Again, this could be an iPad mini thing… I do love the profile switching and export features, plus so few apps have good settings for Feed, Timeline, or Following. Good on the dev for not locking things like hide replies behind a paywall too. Really solid start for this app, I’d love to see it ironed out for the iPad in the future, because I like where the dev is going with this app’s iPad UI layout.

Appreciate the thoughtful feedback and we will take a look at Skyscraper on the iPad mini a bit further!
Good, usually

I like this app because it remembers my place in the timeline. However, there’s a few things that I’m finding buggy:-It logs me out frequently, for some reason? And when I log back in, it doesn’t do so properly, and I have to force quit the app and do it again.-Sometimes where it puts me in the timeline is way off from where it should be. Like, I’ve had to scroll through a full day’s worth of previously read posts to get back to where I was sometimes.-If I get to the top and reload posts, it will usually repeat several hours’ worth of posts I’ve already read. These are pretty minor nitpicks, though!

An Excellent Bluesky App
RM 724
I began using Skyscraper for Bluesky shortly after it was released in January, and it has quickly become my favorite Bluesky client. If you primarily use Bluesky on an iPad like I do, then you are going to love how it runs natively on iPad and takes advantage of the full iPad screen and full sized iPad keyboard. The app simply looks stunning on iPad, and it is just so much better than the official Bluesky app that does not take advantage of the full iPad screen. The iPhone version of this app is also great, but it truly shines on iPad. In additional to its fantastic visuals, the app also functions very well. It loads feeds quickly, provides multiple intuitive options for navigating through feeds, provides great customization options and includes all of the functions and features that you would expect in a top notch social media client. Skyscraper has become my go-to Bluesky client, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an alternative Bluesky app that simply blows the official Bluesky app out of the water.

Truly native bsky app
nruble
As far as I can tell, this is about the only native client for Bluesky on iOS. It's at least the most customizable. I've never been able to settle on a 3rd party bsky client until someone suggested I try this. I don't even like using the official site on desktop anymore. You get custom themes, plenty of settings to change what you see on the timeline, automatic translation... one of my faves is the ability to show only a little thumbnail for images. This is peak 3rd party Twitter app before Elon ran it all into the ground. Absolutely love this. Actively maintained too — the biggest plus. I will say, one option I would like is to *not* save the timeline position. I like seeing a fresh feed every time and being able to pull to refresh and go straight to the top/latest.Update: this is a very very minor gripe lol I'm actually getting used to tapping the "x posts above" button the more I use it.

Thank you for the very kind comments and review! Glad you are enjoying Skyscraper!I will take a look at adding some sort of option for the feeds to always pull latest. May be a bit of work with how I built the app, but I’ll see what I can do!
SKYSCRAPER 1.8
Skyscraper now speaks Mastodon, brings all your accounts together in one Unified timeline, adds a Reader for RSS and Standard.site, and gives the Mac app a full makeover.
NEW
• Mastodon (beta): sign in alongside Bluesky and get your home timeline, notifications, DMs, Explore, lists, bookmarks, favorites, polls, content warnings, custom emoji, scheduled posts and push notifications.
• Unified timeline: read every account's following feed in one combined timeline, with merged Notifications. A badge on each post shows which account it came from, and replies, likes and boosts go out as that account.
• Cross-Post: write once and post to several accounts at the same time, from the app or the share sheet.
• Reader: a new tab for RSS, Standard.site publications, Micro.blog and YouTube channels. Sync with Feedbin, FreshRSS, Inkwell or NewsBlur, organize with tags, filter to Unread Only, and pull up to go to the next story. Your first RSS feed is free.
• Save links to Pinboard and Instapaper, with title, description and tag suggestions from Apple Intelligence.
• Likes and Favorites: search them, and sort by newest or oldest.
• Save videos to Photos.
• Share a user Profile in a profile's ⋯ menu.
• Thread authors can hide a reply or detach a quote of their post.
• The composer saves drafts on your device, and your post comes back after a crash. Undo, drag and drop, camera video, and posting videos in the background are all supported.
• Settings to auto-play GIFs and video with Reduce Motion on, or in Low Data and Low Power Mode.
• Timeline widgets: choose how many posts the medium and large sizes show.
• New Blocked Accounts and Muted Accounts pages.
• Hide the New Posts banner, and clear the app badge whenever you like.
MAC
• Open posts and profiles in their own windows, with one window per composer.
• Right-click menus on posts, links, mentions, hashtags, images and chat bubbles.
• New menu bar commands, a Keyboard Shortcuts window, and Settings as Mac-style preference panes.
• Copy Image, Save Image, Print articles, the Services menu, Open With, and drag-and-drop in and out.
• Spotlight, App Intents, Controls, and a Dock badge with live counts.
• Native sidebar with unread badges, plus a System accent color option.
IMPROVED
• Skyscraper is translated into 30 languages.
• Better VoiceOver, Voice Control and Reduce Motion support across posts, chat and profiles, and image alt text is read aloud.
• Faster launch, less background activity, and an app that's about 60 MB smaller.
• iPad: Settings, your avatar and Compose sit in the sidebar.
• Profiles, hashtags, feed previews and Saved Posts lay out posts like the timeline.
• Mute words now apply to notifications too.
• Block and Delete ask before acting, and an Undo banner follows common actions.
• Your reading position is restored more accurately when coming back after a few days.
• iCloud syncs more settings, and restores them after a reinstall.
• Vision Pro: readable labels, gaze highlights, and better sign-in sheets.
• Apple TV: more reliable playback, content filtering, and sign-in recovery.
• Custom themes reach more screens, including Settings text and post text.
FIXED
• Videos no longer go black when you return to the app.
• The timeline tells you when Bluesky is down instead of failing quietly.
• A deleted post says it was deleted and leaves your timeline.
• Replies keep their context when the parent post appears lower down.
• Fixed a handful of rare crashes.
• Many small bug fixes, layout improvements, and much more.
