Pinku is a private AI chat app that runs open-source language models entirely on your iPhone or Mac. Download a model once and chat with it offline. Your messages are processed on your device and are never sent to a server. No account. No subscription required.
HOW IT WORKS
Pick a model, download it once and start chatting. It runs locally with Apple's MLX framework on your device's GPU. After the download, Pinku works in airplane mode or anywhere without a connection.

Pinku includes 11 open models, all 4-bit or 8-bit and sized for phones and laptops:

Qwen3 and SmolLM3 are reasoning models that think step by step before they answer. Pinku only lists the models your device has enough memory to run, and it checks available memory before loading a model so the app does not crash.

PRIVACY
The AI runs on your device. Pinku has no account and no server of its own that receives your chats. Pinku uses the internet to download a model you choose, from Hugging Face, and to record purchases: Apple handles the payment and RevenueCat receives purchase data, never your chats.

Is there a private AI assistant for iPhone that works offline?
Yes. Pinku runs models like Llama, Qwen, Gemma and SmolLM3 directly on your iPhone or Mac, so your conversations stay on your device and it works without internet once a model is downloaded. On-device models are smaller than cloud models, so they are best for writing, questions, brainstorming and everyday help.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. You need a connection only to download a model. After that, every chat runs offline.
Is it free?
Downloading Pinku and chatting with Llama 3.2 1B costs nothing. No account and no subscription are required. Pinku Pro is optional, as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, to choose any model, custom instructions, dictation and read aloud.
What models does it have?
11 open models: Qwen3, Llama 3.2, Gemma 3, Gemma 3n, Gemma 4, SmolLM3 and LFM2.5, from 0.4 GB to 4.7 GB.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Your prompts and answers are processed on your device and stored only there. Pinku does not collect them and does not use analytics.
REQUIREMENTS
iPhone with iOS 18.6 or later and Metal 3 support, or a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 or later. Larger models need more memory.
