This release focuses on making barcode scan results more actionable, surfacing partner discount codes throughout the app, polishing the scan experience, and fixing platform-specific bugs on Android.
Scan Results: Browse Category Swaps
The biggest addition to this release is a smarter path from "this product isn't approved" to "here's what to buy instead."
- Browse All Category Swaps button. When a scanned product doesn't pass, the result screen now shows a button that takes you to the full list of approved swaps in that product's category. Previously you only saw a small carousel of suggestions; now you can browse everything.
- Catalog category matcher. A new matching utility maps the scanned product's category (from the barcode lookup API) to the app's internal catalog categories, so the button always lands you in the right place.
- Deep-linking to the primary swap. Scan results now deep-link directly into the product list for the primary recommended swap, so the recommended alternative is front and center when you land.
Scan Results: Transparency
- Ingredient-accuracy disclaimer card. Scan results now include a disclaimer explaining that ingredient data comes from third-party barcode databases and may not perfectly match the physical label. It sits above the sources link, so users see the caveat before the citations.
Discount Codes
Partner discount codes are now displayed wherever products appear:
- On product cards in category product lists
- On saved products in the Saved tab
- On featured product cards on the home screen
Codes render in the app's uppercase Lato Light style ("DISCOUNT CODE: XYZ") and only appear when a product actually has one.
Scanner Experience
- New scan loading overlay. The plain white spinner during barcode lookup has been replaced with a branded full-screen loading overlay featuring an animated spinning Swapd logo. While loading, the scan frame and "point camera at barcode" instructions are hidden so the state is unambiguous.
