App Description: MarkdownEdit is a focused, fast macOS editor for Markdown with a clean side‑by‑side layout: write on the left, see an instant rendered preview on the right. No distractions—just your content, perfectly formatted as you type.
Highlights:
• True Live Preview: Updates instantly with headings, lists, links, code blocks, tables, quotes, images.
• Smart Split View: Adjustable divider remembers its position across launches.
• Safe File Handling: Open, Save, Save As… with security‑scoped access and atomic writes. • Auto Reload: Detects external file changes and lets you choose to reload or keep unsaved edits. • Dirty Indicator: Shows when there are unsaved changes.
• Localized: Full English and German interface (more languages planned).
• Markdown Engine: Uses GitHub‑style rendering.
• Keyboard Shortcuts: Cmd+N, Cmd+O, Cmd+S, Shift+Cmd+S for rapid workflow.
• Smart Filename Suggestion: First heading becomes the suggested file name.
• Window & Layout Persistence: Remembers size and split fraction.
• Safe Encoding Fallbacks: Reads UTF‑8, Unicode, UTF‑16 gracefully. • Lightweight: Launches fast; does not lock files unnecessarily.

Easy to use but cannot save and there are no image previews.
CircuitMonkey
I used this app for about 30 minutes to update a gitHub markdown document and was able to edit a bunch of new content for the page but was unable to save the document on Tahoe, either as Save or as Save As. I would say I don’t have permission to edit the document. Also, while I could select a document to edit upon opening, I was not able later to open any documents. No MacOS dialogs popped up to ask if I wanted to add permission for this app to edit either, like other apps have done. My other gripe is that my localy sourced images would not preview. I used html style <img> tags, as is common for GitHub MD files, but it only printed the HTML and not any effort to preview the image. Even if file save were working, I really need image preview to work for this app to get a higher rating. It seems like the developer is off to a good start as far as useablity goes but more features and bug fixes are in order.
