This release is mostly about trust. We audited every screen in the app and fixed around 150 issues. The ones you are most likely to notice: • Honest numbers. When you delete photos, iOS keeps them in Recently Deleted for 30 days — so the space isn't back yet. The app now says so instead of celebrating. The storage meter also updates after a clean and when you return from the Photos app. • Nothing gets deleted that you can't see. In the swipe deck, a photo that fails to load can no longer be deleted — only kept — so an offline iCloud library is still safe to review. • Contacts keep more. Merging now preserves group membership and phonetic names, both of which used to be lost. Backups record them too, and a failed restore puts your contacts back with their photos and accounts intact. • A backup can no longer be deleted by restoring it. At the ten-backup limit, restoring the oldest one could evict it moments before it was read. Fixed. • Compress is smoother. The grid no longer reshuffles while scanning, and the tab is noticeably less laggy on large libraries. • Large deletes tell you they're working instead of looking frozen, and keep running if you put the phone down. • VoiceOver support across the whole app: every control is named, and every screen can be left. • Permission prompts, and every new message, in all 17 languages.
