I downloaded this app because I like the cute virtual bookshelf where it looks like your books are on an actual shelf but I can’t figure out how to do that. I can only do a list. It has some cool features tho but I just wanted a cute customizable virtual library like I saw in the adds.

Rookie Error
THIS IS NOT A FREE APP. I’m getting tired of these apps that make you go through an entire process to personalize your experience and then turn around and go: oop you need to enter card information to go ANY further. There should be a free version. Period. No free trial, which you only get three days, just a free version. I can understand a plus version for more extensive content. Uninstalling now.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. You're right that the paywall timing feels frustrating, and I'm sorry about that. Shelfy does have a free version with core features like scanning and saving books. The trial is for premium extras like reading stats, custom shelves, and more. I'm working on making this clearer during onboarding so it doesn't feel like a bait-and-switch. If you'd like to give it another try, the free tier should cover the basics without entering any payment info.

I thought this would be a great app for my TBR list. I went through the whole process of personalizing my Shelfy only to be asked what plan I would like to pay for after a 3 day free trial. It would be a lot better to know upfront this app will cost a minimum of $4.99 a month. I can store photos of books in my camera roll for free, thanks. I then deleted this app.

Shelfy does offer a free version with core features like scanning and saving books. The paid plans unlock extras like reading stats, custom shelves, and more. I'll make sure the free vs paid split is more obvious before you start personalizing. If you'd like to give it another try, the free tier might already cover what you need for your TBR list.
