What’s New in Version 5.0.16 We’ve updated the stamp reference catalogue with newly reported barcode variants and corrected several historical notional values. We’ve also added clearer guidance for backing up your collection before changing devices or uninstalling the app. Thank you to the collectors who submitted complete barcode details and helped improve Stamp Decoder.

Fixes a My Collection checklist issue where some saved stamps could be recognised as already collected when scanned again, but not always show as ticked or counted in the checklist. This update also improves checklist matching for grouped stamp rows, adds a recently reported checklist entry, and updates privacy wording around subscription support diagnostics.

For collectors New "Stamp terms and reference data" guide in Help & Tips — a Quick reference explaining the specialist markers: ^ notional value, * needs confirmation, M overprint-year codes (M23L etc.), and printer backing. Headed by the live catalogue version and reference-data date. ^ marker on notional values in Summary, with "New to these terms?" links from Summary, Full Decode, paper chips, and the My Collection header — so the explanation is always one tap from wherever the jargon appears. Backup made understandable : the Collection screen and help now spell out that Back up opens the share sheet with Save to Files / AirDrop / email, the "vanishing backup" clipboard fallback explains itself, there's a dedicated help section for running an iPhone and iPad together (one device at a time), and Import warns before replacing anything. Catalogue updated to 2026.07.07.1 — 478 known varieties, adding the tester-reported KCIII Wales 1st-class regional counter sheet with notional £1.35 (MGB K060-CSa), pairing the existing £1.65 printing under the same 24/09/24 barcode date. Clearer counts: "Varieties collected" vs "Stamps saved", now explained via a help icon right on the metrics card. Polish All help and About copy rewritten in a collector's voice with consistent terminology (Decode / Collect / My Collection, mint/used, printings and varieties); stale text fixed (the old "Paper button" wording, overpromising catalogue lines). Action wording unified: "Add to My Collection" everywhere, "Report new find" and "Report a correction" instead of vague report buttons, snackbars that say where things went. Feedback emails now report the correct app version.
