ChromaLens is a full-featured camera app for iOS that acts as a “magnifying glass” for color, making subtle hue differences and contrasts more visible. Using the live camera on your iPhone or iPad, it lets you explore color relationships as you move freely through your environment.
Unlike a typical image filter, ChromaLens uses advanced color remapping that adapts to the color relationships within each image or video. Rather than applying a preset style, it responds to the environment, revealing subtle patterns and unexpected details even in familiar scenes. Whether you're conducting visual analysis or simply curious about how color behaves in the world around you, ChromaLens offers an intuitive way to explore beyond ordinary perception.
Record color-remapped video in real time without waiting for processing to finish. Already captured footage you need? ChromaLens lets you process saved videos too. Working with images rather than video? ChromaLens captures and loads high-resolution stills and lets you apply the same color transformations from the video pipeline.
ChromaLens’ carefully designed interface and streamlined workflow make it an ideal choice for color exploration in the field. Novice users can quickly see meaningful results thanks to its native Apple camera feel, built-in presets and responsive color sliders. Originally inspired by Jon Harman’s DStretch software, ChromaLens implements a modern, Metal-accelerated version of the decorrelation stretch technique developed for scientific image analysis in the 1990s.
