I have used a lot of gamified and regular habit trackers over a decade. Yes, I said decade. I used the granddaddy of all gamified habit trackers when it was just a website, and I’ve used a lot of the Tamagotchi-style trackers that are en vogue right now. None of them keep me motivated for very long. I can tell I’m losing interest when it feels like a chore to open the app or I don’t think twice about marking off a habit for the pretend coins without doing the work.Levla is different. It marries a habit tracker with an MMO-flavored game. Somehow, it captures the right combo of Numbers Go Up MMO addictiveness, a fun storyline, and a robust habit tracking interface. I love opening this app up and seeing what I need to do next. I feel a real desire to do the work to mark off my tasks and earn more points. Seriously, my house has never been cleaner!I should point out that this app is still in its early days. It’s a two-man operation currently with one person on development and the other on art. Ed, the dev, is a machine. He’s super engaged with the community, receptive to feedback, and putting in the work. That bodes well for the future of this app. I’m such a believer in it that I immediately bought the lifetime sub.

I’ve downloaded every other app like Levla, but none of them compare. They all lack major features, lose sight of their initial intended purpose, or bombard you with so many ads it creates a real barrier between you and actually getting things done.Levla, on the other hand, does everything right without cutting any corners or squeezing you for every bit of ad revenue. The game side is incredible, and the habit tracking & to-do tools are top notch. Want to see your to-do list on your home screen? Done. Want to get notifications when your crop of sweet corn is ready to harvest? Done. Want none of those things? That’s okay too.If you like games and have a hard time getting things done - get Levla. It’ll get you doing things and reward you for getting them done.

I’m horrible at sticking with habit trackers, and that includes Habitica. They just didn’t have the proper motivators to keep me going, while Levla has them in spades. If you like Old School RuneScape, you’ll find many familiar elements in Levla. That’s been a selling point for me since I love OSRS, but it isn’t the major reason I’ve stuck with it. This habit tracker is genuinely FUN to use! I find myself wanting to get things on my habits and to-do lists done ASAP so I’ll have more stamina to do more things in Levla. The social aspect via the guilds is great and makes me feel like I’m not alone in my journey to improving my life.

I’ve tried so many gamified to do apps and they’ve all failed me until now. Something about the 1 hour timer for fights and gathering, keeps me checking the app one hour later. It’s not nagging me to do my tasks but it’s saying oh come see what you found on your adventuring. If I happen to check the tasks while I’m there, that’s my business. I’m SO very impressed at balance of story, gamification, and actually getting stuff done IRL this feels. The discord is SO kind and also helps to keep me motivated.
