Decarbonr: Carbon Footprint

Track food, travel & home CO₂

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Redesigned for 1.2: insights on your week, a Home tab for your household and lifestyle trackers, layouts for iPad and iPhone Duo, and an Apple Watch app. Track your carbon footprint from what you log: meals, trips and life at home. See your day, your week and a yearly estimate next to a 2-tonne target, with insights on what weighs most, and learn how the climate works in a library of short explainers with their sources. YOUR DAY AND YOUR YEAR • Today's total against your daily target, with a breakdown by category • Insights: your last 7 days against the 7 days before, your biggest source and your logging streak • Your week, month and year as charts • A yearly estimate once you have entries on 7 different days, next to the 2-tonne target and, for 32 countries, your country's average (fossil CO₂ per person) FOOD • Log food by hand: choose a food type and the amount • Scan a barcode: the product is looked up on Open Food Facts. Decarbonr uses the product's climate data when there is some (for example from Agribalyse), otherwise a food-category average, and says which • Photograph a meal: AI estimates its CO₂e ingredient by ingredient and suggests lower-carbon swaps Barcode and meal-photo scanning are part of the AI add-on. TRAVEL • Car (petrol, diesel or electric), plane, train, bus, cruise, bike or on foot • For flights and cruises, enter two cities and Decarbonr works out the distance • Train trips use a country-specific emission factor HOME AND LIFESTYLE A Home tab with 11 trackers: heating, electricity, water, home upkeep, shopping, waste, digital use, entertainment, sport, pet care and healthcare. Each shows its last 7 days, and each entry is counted once in your daily total. IPAD, IPHONE DUO AND APPLE WATCH • On iPad and on the inner display of iPhone Duo, the app uses two columns and a sidebar; on the cover display it keeps the phone layout, and your place is kept when you open or close it • The Apple Watch app shows today's total against your goal, your week and your yearly estimate, and lets you log a trip from your wrist (it needs Decarbonr on your iPhone) CLIMATE LIBRARY Short explainers on climate science, energy, food, transport, policy and solutions, most with links to their sources. COUNTRY COMPARISONS Fossil CO₂ emissions per person in 32 countries, from Our World in Data (Global Carbon Project data for 2024). HOW THE ESTIMATES WORK Every figure is an estimate, not a measurement. Food and travel use emission factors from published sources, listed in the app; the home and lifestyle trackers use simpler averages; meal-photo results are AI estimates. PRIVACY • No account: your entries are stored on your iPhone • A meal photo is sent only when you scan a meal and agree: it goes through Decarbonr's server to OpenAI for analysis. You can turn this off in Settings • Barcodes are looked up on Open Food Facts, and city names that are not in the app's built-in list with Apple Maps • No ads SUBSCRIPTIONS Decarbonr needs a subscription after the introduction screens. • Base Access (Premium Access plans: weekly, monthly or yearly): tracking, the dashboard, insights and yearly estimate, the Apple Watch app, the library and country comparisons. The weekly plan has a no-cost trial where offered; the paywall shows its length and the price after it. • AI add-on (AI Features plans: weekly, monthly or yearly): everything in Base Access, plus barcode and meal-photo scanning (up to 100 barcodes and 25 meal photos a day). Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings or in the app's Settings, which also has Restore Purchases. What's new in Decarbonr 1.2 • Redesigned app: a new look with clearer screens, cards and charts. • Insights on the Dashboard: your last 7 days against the 7 days before, your biggest source and your logging streak, plus quick buttons to add food, add a trip, open Home or History. • A new Home tab gathers the 11 home and lifestyle trackers, each with its last 7 days. • iPad: the app now runs on iPad, with two columns and a sidebar. • iPhone Duo: two columns on the inner display, the phone layout on the cover display, and your place is kept when you open or close it. • Apple Watch: see today's total, your week and your yearly estimate, and log a trip from your wrist. • Scanning has moved into the Food tab: meal-photo and barcode scanning are the first cards there. • An honest yearly estimate replaces the "temperature in 2050" card, whose projection had no reliable source. Once you have entries on 7 different days, you see your yearly estimate next to the 2-tonne target and, where available, your country's average. • Correct totals: each emission is now counted once (travel, consumables and heating were counted twice on the Dashboard), and electricity, water, waste and the other trackers now save every entry. • Travel: city names are now looked up with Apple Maps and no longer sent to OpenAI or OpenRouteService. • Privacy: the app asks for your permission before it sends a meal photo for AI analysis. You can change this in Settings. • Subscriptions: the AI add-on now includes Base Access, and Settings has Restore Purchases and Manage subscription. • Accessibility: text follows your device's text size, and VoiceOver support is improved. • Bug fixes and stability improvements.
