Scout Overland was created out of a personal need—to make overland trip planning easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable. After years of exploring nearly every overlanding app/website, I found a common gap: a lack of detailed, reliable information for dispersed camping. Too often, I found myself driving late into the night, unsure of what lies ahead or where I could safely and comfortably set up camp.
That's why I built Scout Overland.
This platform is designed to be a trusted tool for overlanders, adventure bikers, and van lifers alike—helping you discover dispersed campsites without the guesswork. - Added a new map area management popup to the Map page when in download mode.
- Added last state retention for user location settings so the user does not have to re-enable location tracking each time the app is restarted.
- Updated the recording functionality to record with a black line border. Increased the size of the white border for trails/tracks to make them more visible on satellite maps.
- Updated the location tracking functionality to add an arrow which rotates to the users direction of travel.
- Updated the campsite and waypoint clustering to make the map clearer when viewing large areas.
- Updated the trails to show Trail Owner directly on the card and to add a Trail Owner filter to the list and map.
- Updated the route builder functionality so new route tracks are saved locally to the device and then uploaded to the server in the background. This allows for increased route creation performance and user experience.
