Keep your work in ordinary files and folders, write in a focused editor, and use optional local AI without moving your documents into a proprietary cloud library. WRITE AND THINK IN MARKDOWN • Edit Markdown in writing, preview, or split view. • Open a single document directly from Finder for a quick, focused session. • Work with Markdown, plain text, HTML, and common code or configuration files. • Keep notes, research, drafts, images, and long-form projects in folders you choose. ORGANIZE KNOWLEDGE YOU OWN WitNote works with normal local files instead of locking your writing into a private database. Use folders, tags, recent workspaces, and version history to keep ideas and drafts connected. Your files remain available to other compatible tools. LOCAL AI, UNDER YOUR CONTROL On Apple silicon, WitNote uses Apple’s open-source MLX framework to run supported language models locally. Use AI actions to summarize a file or selection, review grammar, polish text, suggest titles, explain a passage, or check structure. Rewrite suggestions are shown for review before they replace your text. AI is optional, and the Markdown workspace remains useful without it. Model availability, storage use, speed, and output quality depend on your Mac and selected model. Network access may be needed when you choose to download optional model files. READ SOURCES BESIDE YOUR NOTES Preview supported PDF, Word, spreadsheet, image, and EPUB files. Open a Markdown side note beside a preview so your observations stay in a portable text file near the source. For supported PDF, Word, and EPUB documents, create bilingual reading views with a chosen source and target language, chapter or whole-document scope, and optional paragraph alignment. Translation quality depends on the selected local model. CONVERT AND EXPORT WHEN NEEDED Convert supported PDF, Word, or EPUB sources into Markdown, including chapter-structured projects where available. Export your Markdown and long-form projects to HTML, PDF, DOCX, or EPUB for sharing and publishing workflows. WitNote does not include a bookstore or third-party books. You are responsible for having the rights needed to open, translate, convert, or export your files. PRIVACY AND REQUIREMENTS No account is required. Your documents are handled as local files in locations you choose. Network access may be used for optional model downloads, StoreKit, or external support pages.
