Move and copy, rethought Choose a destination from your real folder tree, with search, pinned and recent folders, and the subfolders of where you are. Or Cut or Copy photos and folders, open any folder, and tap Paste Here. Finish Set One step at the end of a set: keep the photos you rated by moving them to a folder you choose, move the rest to Trash, and tidy away the empty folder. Find it in a folder's ••• menu or by pressing and holding the folder. Moving everything out of a folder can also send the empty folder to Trash. Easier syncing between your devices When your other iPhone or iPad has Oak Viewer open nearby, the Library shows it with a Sync button. Syncs that only add or update photos and ratings now go ahead with one tap; anything that would move something to Trash still asks first. Names you give people now sync too, and folders both devices already had can be combined into one. A new browser Pages fill the screen, and the address bar and tabs tuck away as you scroll, like Safari. Tabs are shown as a grid of previews, and downloads appear in a small bar above the address bar. Fixes and refinements • Emptying a large Trash shows its progress, and the app stays responsive. • People appear straight away when the app opens, and new names are saved at once. • Library analysis pauses when your device is hot or in Low Power Mode.

Share a Folder Share one folder with someone else's device, such as a favourites folder with your partner. Choose Share Folder… from the folder's menu, then join it on the other device from Keep in Sync. New photos, renames, moves and Trash inside the folder go both ways over your local network, and you can choose whether ratings are shared too. Nothing outside the folder is ever sent. A new Gallery look Photos are shown whole in even rows, with nothing cropped. Folders appear as album covers with the whole cover photo and a photo count. Smart folders and People open like a folder, with the same layout. Pinch to change the size. Fixes and refinements • PDF thumbnails are no longer upside down. • Videos have the same tap-to-show bar as documents, and the player's own buttons no longer overlap Back.

Keep in Sync Keep your library the same on two devices, such as an iPad and an iPhone. Pair them once in Settings → Storage & Sync → Keep in Sync, then tap Sync Now whenever both have Oak Viewer open. New photos and folders, ratings, moves, renames, Trash and smart folders go both ways, directly between your devices over your local network. Syncing always asks first, on both devices, and shows exactly what will change before anything happens. No photos are ever erased: anything deleted on one device goes to Trash on the other. You can stop syncing at any time. Fixes and refinements • Send Library no longer stalls on “Preparing library” and closes when the library is very large. • Switches and buttons are easy to read with the Classic theme in Dark Mode. • The Warm, Cool and Pink themes have readable titles in Dark Mode. • The Open in Maps button in photo info is readable. • Storage, backups, Keep in Sync and moving your library to a new device are now together in Settings → Storage & Sync.

Choose Light or Dark Oak Viewer can now stay in Light or Dark mode, whatever your preference. Find it in Settings → Dark Mode & Theme. System, the default, follows your device as before. Fixes and refinements A zip you download in the browser or open from Files now becomes a folder named after the zip, without “.zip” or a string of extra characters on the end.

Fixes and refinements The folder menu now shows your current sort and filter correctly, with the checkmark on the one in use. Copy URL, Share and Open in Safari View in the browser menu always use the page you’re on. Delete Unrated now works even while a rating filter is on, and tells you if there’s nothing to delete. Deleting from the Trash for good now asks for confirmation first. In the Trash, the selection count, Select All and Clear work as expected, and selection ends after you restore or delete. An empty Trash no longer shows a button that looked like Empty Trash. Menus fit on the screen in landscape on iPhone. Clearer wording, like “1 folder” and “1 photo”, and matching filter names throughout. Smoother performance: photo thumbnails reappear instantly when you scroll back, and less work happens in the background while you browse your library.

What’s New in Oak Viewer 1.6 A guided tour. A short walkthrough shows how to find art on the web, turn a zip into a folder, rate as you go and keep only your favorites. You can replay it anytime from Settings. An honest histogram. Tap the histogram for clear measurements of brightness and contrast. That includes how much of the picture is dark, midtone or bright, and exactly how much is pure black or pure white. It also describes what’s in the photo automatically, right on your device. Your whole picture, every time. Folder covers and thumbnails show the entire image, never cropped. Folder cards show how many photos are inside. Smoother library. Scrolling through folders is much smoother, especially on iPad and in large libraries. Counts and covers update live while a zip is importing. A tidier folder menu. The More button opens a clear menu with Sort, Filter, Import, Find Duplicates and Delete Unrated. Each folder’s subtitle shows its photo count and the filter and sort in use. Liquid Glass everywhere. Library Backup & Device Transfer Back up your whole library — photos, folders, ratings and metadata — into a single .oaklib package you can keep anywhere, and restore it whenever you need. Switching devices is just as easy. Send your library straight to another iPhone or iPad over your local network using a pairing code — handy when you're moving a collection off an iPad and onto a phone with a screen big enough to do it justice. Nothing goes to the cloud, and nothing leaves your devices. A better built-in browser Find on Page now uses the system's own search, with proper highlighting, reliable wrap-around, and a clear "No results" when there's nothing to find. Two-finger swipe to go back and forward, anywhere on the page — no reaching for the screen edge. The browser now picks up the colour of the page you're reading, so dark sites stay dark right to the edge of the display. Mail, phone and app links now open where they should instead of doing nothing. Retry actually retries when a page fails to load. Privacy Downloads started in a Private tab no longer leave cookies behind once the tab is closed. Viewing Text files and PDFs now share one clean toolbar you can tap to hide, for distraction-free full-screen reading. Swiping a photo away fades the background smoothly as you go, instead of snapping. Fixes Downloading a .zip no longer creates an empty "Browser Downloads" folder. Import problems now explain what actually went wrong, in plain language. Settings is easier to dismiss.
