AFRO 1.29.5 makes field mapping safer and clearer, with guarded capture sessions, easier path editing, cleaner terrain shapes and a more focused Explore view.
AFRO is a bouldering guidebook companion for climbers who want to explore areas, find problems, document new lines and contribute local knowledge responsibly.
INTERACTIVE MAPS & GPS NAVIGATION
Browse areas, sectors, boulders, parking and approach paths on an interactive map. See nearby boulders with GPS coordinates, distance information and location tracking for field use.
TOPO PHOTOS & CLIMBING LINES
View topo photos with climbing lines drawn directly over the rock, so routes are easier to visualise before you walk in or pull on. Add your own photos and lines to help keep the guidebook useful.
POWERFUL SEARCH & FILTERS
Search across areas, sectors, boulders and problems. Find climbs by name, grade or location, filter by difficulty or sector, and keep your favourite places close to hand.
OFFLINE-FIRST FIELD USE
Download sector data for remote days out. AFRO keeps climbing information available offline with a local database, then syncs changes when a connection returns.
COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS
Signed-in climbers can contribute boulders, problems, topo photos, lines, parking and approach paths. Contributions are reviewed before publication, and contributor content is handled under AFRO's Commons agreement with versioned acceptance metadata.

What’s New in AFRO 1.29.5
• Capture work is safer: active path and topo-line edits now warn before you leave, reducing accidental data loss.
• Path editing is clearer: zoom in to reveal add-point controls between existing points, then drag points into place.
• Topo-line drawing is easier to use: the magnified preview is offset away from your finger so the exact placement stays visible.
• Map shapes now have their own layer switch. Shapes appear on the Outdoors map, remain available offline, and use a clear grey fill with darker outlines while climbing markers stay on top.
• Explore now focuses on destinations with published problems, keeping empty destinations out of the main browsing flow.
• Capture, logbook navigation and map interactions received additional reliability and interface polish.
