[New puzzle pack: Neoclassicism Vol. 2] This volume focuses on portraits and myths, complementing the solemn historical scenes of “Neoclassicism Vol. 1.” It brings together works by David and two of his students, Gérard and Ingres, showing how one style passed from teacher to student and how it changed along the way. Clothing, jewelry and furniture are painted in fine detail and offer a glimpse of the fashions and way of life of the period. [New puzzle pack: Columbus, 1492] The pack is built around 1492, the year Granada surrendered and Columbus set sail. Its six paintings begin in Spain and go on to show how products of the Americas, and images of the people who lived there, found their way into European painting. The notes also tell you which details are documented and which come from hearsay or imagination. [New feature: Pack reveal] From now on, whenever new puzzle packs are released, you’ll see them and their paintings as soon as you open the game, so you’ll know what’s new right away and never miss a thing. [A new visual design] The interface has been redesigned to be cleaner and lighter. The whole rework follows one principle: let the paintings take the stage. A new ambient background sets the works against a deep, quiet backdrop that never competes with them and shifts gently in parallax as you tilt your device. Every screen now shares the same background and the same button language — embossing and glass effects are gone, depth comes from light and shade, and the result is calmer. The Classic Mode board gains a real sense of space along the way. The system Reduce Motion setting is now respected. [New puzzle pack: Gleanings of Autumn] An autumn gathered from six lands: Bruegel’s The Return of the Herd, Goya’s The Grape Harvest or Autumn, Millais’s Autumn Leaves, Hiroshige’s Maples at Mama, Cropsey’s Autumn—On the Hudson River and Levitan’s Golden Autumn. From Flanders to Edo, from the Hudson to Russia, six masterpieces spanning 330 years — harvests, fallen leaves and hillsides ablaze with color — each capture autumn in a different guise. [New gameplay: Classic Mode] Classic Mode brings the full traditional jigsaw experience: drag pieces freely from the tray onto the board and the space around it — they snap into place when close to their correct position, and neighboring pieces that fit together join into a group you can move as one. Every successful join is rewarded with a soft flash and a gentle haptic tap. A new Reference panel shows the whole painting whenever you need it and can be dragged anywhere on screen; the new Tidy Up button returns loose single pieces to the tray in one go. The original gameplay is now called Focus Mode — switch between the two on the start panel, and the app remembers your choice. [New puzzle pack: Baroque Style Vol. 2] Six masters of the Baroque golden age in one pack: Caravaggio’s The Supper at Emmaus, Rubens’s The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus, Gentileschi’s Esther before Ahasuerus, Hals’s The Laughing Cavalier, Velázquez’s The Surrender of Breda and Rembrandt’s The Jewish Bride. From scripture to Greek myth, from portraiture to the stage of history, each of the six masterpieces freezes a single dramatic instant — Baroque art’s command of light and motion at its height. [Fixes & improvements] · The notes for every painting have been reviewed from scratch and translation errors corrected · Gallery search: a new clear button, and search closes when you press anywhere outside the results · Settings: Clear cache now lets you choose which puzzle packs to remove and shows how much space each one uses · Start panel: press and hold a difficulty button to reset that difficulty’s progress and start over · Focus Mode: a smoother brightness adjustment when you press and hold the Light button · Plus assorted bug fixes and performance improvements As always — MasterPiece has no ads, ever. [New puzzle pack: Realism Vol. 1] In the mid-nineteenth century a group of painters decided to paint only the world the eye can see — Courbet’s A Burial at Ornans gives a funeral in a nameless little town the scale of history painting, declaring that ordinary lives and deaths carry their own solemnity; in Bonheur’s The Horse Fair a Percheron rears and whinnies until even the dust seems to boil; in Daumier’s The Third-Class Carriage strangers are pressed onto the same wooden bench for the first time; Breton’s The Song of the Lark sings a bright hymn to a field at daybreak; Repin’s They Did Not Expect Him drops the weight of history onto the most private of reunions; and Shishkin’s Morning in a Pine Forest entrusts a nation’s soul to an old forest gilded with mist. Six honest works, six eyes fixed on their own age. [The Gallery goes further: search, sort, filter] The Gallery now has keyword search — type a few letters of a title, a painter or a museum and the piece you want is right there. Sorting and filtering go further too: sort artworks by release order (newest first by default) or by where they are held, filter packs by type, and watch the artwork details slide in with the direction you scroll.
