ShutterSlim uses on-device AI to clean up your Photos library—catching duplicate photos and shrinking oversized videos so you reclaim gigabytes without losing the moments that matter.
PHOTOS — FIND DUPLICATES THAT OTHER CLEANERS MISS
Apple's Vision framework creates neural-network fingerprints to catch near-duplicates, burst sequences, and similar shots that filename or timestamp matching would miss. Each group is scored for sharpness, face quality, and composition; the best photo is pre-selected, but you make every final call.
VIDEOS — SMALLER FILES, SAME QUALITY
Recompress old videos to modern formats and shrink them by 70–90% with no visible quality drop. Compare original and compressed side-by-side, or use a wipe slider, before replacing the originals. Originals go to Photos.app's Recently Deleted, recoverable for 30 days.
REVIEW EVERYTHING BEFORE ANYTHING IS DELETED
Nothing leaves your library without your explicit confirmation. Cmd+Z undoes selection changes; R resets to recommended. Press ? for the full keyboard shortcut overlay.
SAFE, PRIVATE, AND REVERSIBLE
Everything runs on your Mac. Photos and videos never leave your device. Smart caching makes rescans seconds-fast. Deletions go through Photos.app's Recently Deleted; for 30 days, nothing is gone for good.
FREE TO TRY, ONE-TIME UPGRADE

Quickly helped me free up 25gb of space!

This app was exactly what I needed, but was unable to find! Tight integration with your iPhotos library so it syncs quickly, allows you to review on a per-album basis, and defaults to keeping your favorited photos. Which is great peace of mind when reviewing quicklyThe AI does a good job of recommending the “best” photo (I’d say I got with it 80% of the time), and it shows you the AI “score” in the info. It’s similarity tolerance is well implemented. I’ve found the my favorite way to use it is with a tight tolerance to first scan through and select the best very near duplicate. Then loosen the tolerance, and do another run through to only keep the best moments

I used this app to clean up my photo archive spanning 20 years. It easily found similar photos so I could keep the best of the bunch. This app made the process so much easier and more enjoyable than any attempt I’ve made at this clean-up in the past. Still need to review the choices but the workflow and shortcuts make the process very easy and you can feel confident with quick reviews. To my amazement, I was able to review 20 years of photos in a week and got rid of around 18K images I don't need. THANK YOU!

DEVELOPER IS SUPER RESPONSIVE. Call it 4.5 stars. Keyboard-driven approval process is very convenient. Interface is clear and well-thought-out. Process of deleting is excellent — you select winners, losers get deleted, and when you quit, you can review deletions, then they go into “recently deleted” for 30 days, so it’s very safe — and customizable, for those that want instant delete.
Excellent Tool!

This uses your Mac’s very capable on-device models to sort through your photos library (including your iCloud Photos), and suggests duplicates for deletion. All selected/suggested photos seem to go into the “Recently Deleted” folder if you make a mistake - but this has helped me clean up a TON of similar looking photos I didn’t have the time to sort through myself.
• Info panel: press I while reviewing to see the focused photo's filename, capture time, camera and lens, exposure, dimensions, size, and format, including RAW vs. JPEG and Edited, Live, and HDR badges. Handy for telling an original from its edit before choosing which to keep.
• Hidden album: View > Show Hidden Album adds your Hidden album as a scan source. Off by default.
• Video edit: press K to keep a video at full quality and skip it in future scans. When a re-encode comes out larger than the original, a Keep at Full Quality button is offered.
• Much lower memory use when reviewing large groups of high-resolution photos.
• Fixed the review toolbar being hard to read on macOS 27 in Light appearance.
• After emptying the trash, ShutterSlim shows what was moved. You can rate the app any time from the Help menu.
