Building management got faces worth arguing with. The hoistway is steel, block and bolts, and the landing doors finally match the car. The car and crew now fit every phone the same way. The menu is a proper shift control panel again, and the pay stub prints like the real thing. 2X pays what it says, the NEXT goal keeps up with your bank, and GET REINSTATED stays out of the way after you clock out.

THE ROSTER DEALS STRAIGHT. There was a featured boss every week, and he took better than four fights in ten while the other nine names split what was left. He is gone. The roster is a bag now: every boss on the list arrives before any of them comes back, and nobody stands at the landing twice in a row. Ten names, one in ten, every shift. The star, the weekly bonus and the board line that advertised him are gone with him.

The FLOOR pass, and a shift that is paced like one. A SHIFT THAT BREATHES. The work now comes on a clock, not on your paycheck. A quiet start, the first boss at a minute and a half, and every fight after it earned. The gaps between them vary, one call in five turns out to be a whole crew of elites instead, and the shaft goes quiet for a breath after a kill before the work picks back up. THE CREW DO THE WORK. The mechanic swings the wrench, throws the come-along, runs the impact gun. Every shot leaves the tool in his hands, with real elbows, recoil through the hips and the hat, and the apprentice handing him the next iron on a level change. THE CREW PITCH IN. A man out on the crosshead throws what is in his hand at hardware coming past him. He stays out for a real stint and goes in for a real spell instead of jumping side to side. EVERY MAN COUNTS. What hits the car now hits the men on it. A threat passing beside the cab through your apprentice costs you, and a tool landing on his hat gets caught. THREATS BREAK INTO THEIR PARTS. A buffer sheds its spring, piston and bolts. A relay throws its arc chute. A filler weight cracks in two. Bosses come apart into their own props, and the last pieces land on the car top and slide off the crosshead. BOSSES AT A FLOOR. The building holds at the boss's landing while you fight him, and the counterweights keep running past on either wall, up or down, each one called ahead by its own lamp. THE OPENING, REFINED. The star is re-rigged as a stocky body under weight in every shot, and the fall into the gang box is a real tumble. THE CLOSING. The shift ends the way it began: out of the hatch, through the landing doors, into the yard at dawn with the paycheck, the truck waiting, a last word from the raccoon. The instruments are one inspection box: a key switch for the mode, RUN and STOP pushbuttons, the boss meter as a needle gauge, the floor as a position drum, wages on the drum counter. A CAMERA. A slow push when a boss arrives, a kick on an elite kill, a settle on a floor milestone, and the near beams of the hoistway passing in front of the car. LIGHT THAT BEHAVES. The headlamp, the hall lanterns and the work lights light what they touch, lit side and shade side, and Night Shift is lit by the cone alone. Ropes, traveling cable, counterweight and the crew's faces are exactly as before.

The whole game got the polish pass. Same shift, same counterweight, every surface rebuilt. THE HOISTWAY IS A BUILDING NOW. Landings slide past with real doors, sills, hall lanterns that light as you rise, and a floor plaque on every entrance. Each band of the building is made of something: block wall and a sump in the sub-basement, marble and brass in the lobby, hose cabinets on the office floors, pipe runs and a controller cabinet in mechanical, stone and lamplight in the penthouse, open sky on the roof. Conduit, junction boxes, work lights and the rail lubricator run the wall between floors. INSTRUMENTS, NOT NUMBERS. Wages roll on a mechanical drum counter. Integrity is a bank of indicator lamps that flicker out one at a time and jolt when you take a hit. A car position indicator ticks the floor. Boss health is an INSPECTION meter with an engraved nameplate. The E-STOP travels under your thumb and drops a real arc off its charge ring. THE CREW ARE PEOPLE. The mechanic tracks threats with his head and headlamp, braces on a hit, and raises his tool when a boss goes down. The riders sway with the car, duck when it gets bad, point at the boss, and check their watch in the lulls. The cab has its operating panel, handrail, door track and toe guard, and every livery you buy is painted on the doors. EVERY THREAT IS A PART. The guide shoe, the encoder, the brake and the rest were redrawn to read at a glance. Elites wear a red danger tag. Bosses take visible damage as they drop, change their stance under half health, and telegraph every attack on their own body. HITS LAND. Kills flash the machine's own silhouette. Tracers and muzzle flashes per weapon. Announcements stamp in with weight and stay out of the instruments. The combo is chalked on the crosshead. A boss down is a ceremony. THE CONTROL PANEL. The menu is a lit hoistway diorama with a machined steel panel bolted over it. Tabs are keyed buttons, CLOCK IN is a pushbutton with real travel, and pressing it closes the doors on the car and starts the shift. The shop shows the part you are buying, prices flip like a split-flap, banked wages roll on drums, liveries are painted chips. The logbook prints its stubs. The rig has rocker switches and knurled knobs. The crew room has a locker for every hire. GAME OVER, STAGED. The cause plate slams down, the stub prints, the paycheck counts up, PAID thumps, and the personnel stamp lands a beat later. Also fixed: the top instruments now clear the notch on every phone, and a live ad strip no longer sits on the wages plate. Bosses stand clear of the instruments, threats are quieter, CLOCK IN never scrolls, the loose counterweight filler weight replaces the tape drum, and the frame rate is back where 2.10.0 had it.
