This update is about one thing: telling you the truth about your files. 24-bit ALAC files now show their real bit depth. BitDek was reading the wrong spot in the file's format data, and ALAC files came out as 16-bit no matter what they held. Track Info and the Audio Quality screen now agree with reality, and with each other. Some MP4 and ALAC files carry a small flaw in their tag list that made the system's reader stop early. Everything after the flaw vanished silently: lyrics, genre, year, track numbers. BitDek now reads the tag list itself and fills in whatever the system reader missed. Healthy files import exactly as before. Damaged ones come back whole. Genres on MP4 files also come through more consistently now, so albums that imported without a genre pick one up. Best of all, you don't have to re-import anything. A one-time library update runs when you first open this version. It re-reads your MP4 files and fills in what was missed, right on your device. Gapless playback is back for anyone who connects AirPods or CarPlay after the music has started. Version 1.4.0 introduced a gap between every song in that situation for CD-quality libraries. BitDek now reads the rate your device already agreed to instead of asking for one it will refuse, so the songs run together the way they used to.

SCROBBLE TO LAST.FM Connect your Last.fm account and BitDek scrobbles what you play. You sign in on Last.fm's own page, so BitDek never sees your password. Your listening goes straight from your device to your account. No servers in between. Plays count by the standard Last.fm rules, the same rules BitDek's play counts have always used. Your profile and your library agree. Listening offline? Your plays wait on the device and send the moment you are back online. Up to two weeks of listening, nothing lost. Your profile even shows what you are playing right now. You stay in control. Pause scrobbling without disconnecting, and what you play while it is off stays off the record. A privacy note in Settings spells out exactly what is shared and what never is: artist, title, album, and play time go to your own account. Your files and your library never leave your device. LYRICS Your lyrics are in the player now. Tracks with lyrics get a page beside the artwork — swipe to it. Synced lyrics follow the song line by line, timed to the lyric file itself. Plain lyrics read as a clean page. Go fullscreen and tap any line to jump straight to that moment. Scroll ahead or back without losing your place. The live line waits for you to return, then picks you back up. BitDek reads the lyrics your files already carry, embedded tags and .lrc sidecar files alike. Out of the box nothing is fetched and nothing leaves your device. Some of your music has no lyrics anywhere. For those tracks there is a new switch in Settings: Fetch Lyrics Online. Flip it on and BitDek quietly fills the gaps from LRCLIB, a free lyrics catalog built by people who type and time these things by hand. A track gets looked up once while it plays, the result is saved to your device for good, and lyrics you add yourself always win. The switch stays off until you say otherwise. A privacy note in Settings spells out what a lookup sends: song title, artist, album, and length. Never your files, never your listening. RELEASE DATES Sort your albums and tracks by release date. Newest first, or tap again for oldest first. A remaster counts as the year the music came out, not the year it was reissued, so a 50th anniversary edition of a 1973 record sits with 1973. Albums with no year wait together at the end. Missing or wrong dates are easy to fix. Open Edit Album and set the Release Date and Original Release Date on a calendar. Once you have set a date by hand, importing more tracks into that album will never overwrite it. Smart playlists understand release dates too. Add a rule for a year or a decade: released in 1994, before the 1980s, after 2010, or in the last 5 years. As you type, BitDek suggests the years and decades already in your library. Type 90s and it knows you mean the 1990s. A decade playlist fills itself, and "in the last 5 years" keeps up with the calendar on its own. ALSO IN THIS VERSION Resuming a track after reopening the app no longer counts the play twice. A long-standing counting quirk that scrobbling made visible, now fixed at the source.

1.3.5 – Swipe Back, True Native-Rate DAC Playback, and Better Reading of iTunes Rips Navigation now moves at the speed of your thumb. Your DAC now gets every track at its native rate. And if you ripped your CDs with iTunes, this update reads your files the way iTunes wrote them. NEW • Swipe back to navigate (customer-requested). Swipe from the left edge of any screen and the previous screen follows your finger, just like you expect • Browsing your library? Swipe back from anywhere on the screen, no need to reach for the edge • Swipe back as fast as you like. Quick successive swipes carry you through multiple screens without pausing between them • Flick the full player away. A short, fast downward flick now closes it, alongside the usual drag • Change tracks from the mini player with a swipe. Slide the song title left for the next track or right for the previous one • Swipe up on the mini player to open the full player. It rises with your finger and springs open with a click you can feel • Playing through a USB DAC? Every track now plays at its native sample rate, even when the rate changes mid-queue. Watch your DAC's indicator follow the music. Rate changes take a short silent gap, the honest trade for an untouched signal. Same-rate albums stay perfectly gapless FIXED • The Lossless Passthrough badge now reports a measurement instead of a capability. It appears only when the output sample rate truly matches your file • Seeking near the end of a track in a mixed-format queue could play the wrong audio while the time display froze. Track endings now land exactly where they should • Pausing and resuming in the last second of a track could stop playback from advancing. The next track now always follows • Fixed rare silent playback after pausing during a track change. The next play now rebuilds the audio engine and confirms it started • Compilations in ALAC and M4A files now land under Various Artists (customer-reported). The iTunes compilation flag was never read for Apple's own formats, so mix albums filed under whichever artist came first • Multi-disc sets from iTunes rips now show their Disc 1 and Disc 2 grouping (customer-reported). iTunes stores disc numbers in a binary form BitDek didn't parse • A one-time library update applies both fixes to music you already imported. No re-tagging and no re-importing. Your own edits are never overwritten • Editing an album's artist now updates the album card everywhere. The card could keep showing the original artist even after the album moved • Editing a compilation's Album Artist now updates every track, not just the album. Smart playlists that match on artist previously missed those tracks after an edit. A one-time library update repairs albums edited on earlier versions, compilations included • Lock screen and Control Center artwork now displays at full resolution (customer-reported). BitDek was handing iOS a small thumbnail instead of your full-size art • Imports no longer create duplicate artists (customer-reported). Artist names that differed only invisibly, a stray space or an alternate accent encoding, each created their own entry. Names are now standardized on the way in, and capitalization variants reuse the existing artist • Renaming an artist to a name that already exists now offers to merge the two instead of leaving identical entries. Everything moves to the surviving artist, which takes the name exactly as you typed it • A one-time library update merges the identical-name duplicate artists already in your library. Your edits, favorites, and artwork survive the merge • The screen now stays awake during imports from every source (customer-reported: a large import stopped partway when the phone went to sleep). Previously only WiFi Transfer held the screen on • Sharing several folders to BitDek at once now reports the full total in the Import Summary, not just the last folder's count

1.3.4 – Sorting Now Ignores Leading Articles The Beatles now file under B. Your library sorts past leading articles, and the sort tags in your music always win. CHANGED • Artists, albums, and tracks now sort past leading articles like The, A, and An. The Rolling Stones sit under R, where you would look for them • This changes your library's order on update day if your files carry no sort tags • Prefer strict alphabetical order? Turn off "Ignore Articles When Sorting" in Settings under Library • Sort tags embedded in your files always win, used exactly as written. A sort tag set to match the display name keeps its article in place, so you can opt any artist or album out one at a time • The first launch after this update runs a brief one-time library update. A small notice shows its progress, and you can keep using the app or dismiss it while it finishes • The gradient behind the navigation bar now stays inside the bar instead of bleeding into the content below • Softer mini player glow and a subtler tab bar scrim in both light and dark mode FIXED • Sort tags in M4A, AAC, and ALAC files now work (customer-reported, classical library). The iTunes sort fields were ignored at import, so libraries in Apple's own formats never sorted by them even though the same tags worked for MP3 and FLAC • The Import screen no longer overstates total capacity (customer-reported). A 1 TB iPhone could show "2 TB Total Capacity" because the label always rounded up to the next size tier • Sort names arriving on a later import now fill in artists that were first imported from untagged files

Repeat, Shuffle, and Imports Repeat All now remembers that you turned it on. Shuffle comes back the way you left it. And albums that share a title stay separate. CHANGED • Repeat All stays on until you turn it off. Set it once and every album or playlist you play keeps looping, even after ejecting the queue, playing something new, or reopening the app • Repeat One still applies only in the moment. Skipping away or starting a new queue turns it off, as before • Scrolling through your library is smoother. Album grids, artist pages, and track lists draw their artwork and shadows more efficiently, with the biggest gains on 120Hz displays • The import progress banner now matches your theme in light and dark mode FIXED • Albums that share a title but belong to different artists now import as separate albums. Two recordings of the same symphony by different orchestras previously merged into one album with their tracks mixed together • Setting the Album Artist tag in your files guarantees the separation, even when both albums sit in folders with the same name • Shuffle now comes back on when reopening the app brings back a shuffled queue. Previously the queue returned in its shuffled order while the shuffle button showed off • Turning shuffle off after reopening now returns the queue to its true original order • With Repeat All on, a restored shuffled queue reshuffles when it loops back to the start • Shuffle is saved the moment you toggle it, so your choice survives even a sudden app termination. It still resets when you eject the queue or play something new

Disconnecting your headphones or car now pauses your music, the way it should. And picking up where you left off is faster and smoother. FIXED • Playback pauses when your headphones, Bluetooth speaker, or CarPlay connection drops, instead of continuing loudly through the iPhone speaker • Pressing play resumes exactly where you paused, on the speaker or the next device you connect • Switching outputs yourself, like picking the speaker in the AirPlay menu, keeps the music playing as always • Reopening the app restores your music paused right at your saved spot, with no play button flicker and no brief replay of the track start • Cold starts with a long queue are quicker, with less waiting before the player is ready • Music interrupted by a timer or alarm now resumes with sound when you press play, instead of showing a playing screen with no audio • Albums with an intentionally repeated track, like one that opens and closes the album, now import completely instead of skipping the repeat

Picking up where you left off now works exactly as it should. FIXED • Mini player always returns after a relaunch, queue intact • Playback position saves as you listen, so you resume where you actually stopped, even when iOS closes the app in the background • Scrub bar and timestamp no longer freeze when starting new music after a restored session • Timestamp no longer jumps ahead by the time you were away when you return to the app and press play • Music keeps playing when you connect AirPods or switch audio outputs mid-song • Play responds right away after reopening the app, resuming from where you left off even if you tap before the progress bar appears

Filter your library by release date Find the music you're in the mood for, faster. A new Release Date filter on the Albums, Tracks, Artists, and Playlists screens lets you narrow your library by decade or by any of the last few years. Pick "1970s" to surface your classic rock collection, or tap "2026" to see everything you've added lately — you can mix and match as many selections as you like, and they combine with your existing Favorites and Genre filters. Siri voice control. Say "Hey Siri, play Radiohead in BitDek" and your music starts. Artists, albums, songs, playlists, genres. Siri searches your library and plays what you ask for. "Play jazz in BitDek" queues your jazz collection "Shuffle my music in BitDek" shuffles your whole library "Resume BitDek" picks up where you left off BitDek teaches Siri your artist names and playlists, so recognition improves over time. Import new music, and those names are available to Siri right away. Manage Siri access anytime in Settings > Siri.

Streamlined onboarding experience We've simplified the welcome screens so you can get to your music faster. The upgrade options are clearer, and your empty library now greets you with a prominent Import Music button – no hunting required.

CarPlay support is here. Browse your albums, artists, and playlists from the car display. Pick up where you left off with Recently Played, or jump into something you just added with Recently Added. Now Playing shows your album artwork with shuffle and repeat controls. Tap Up Next to see your queue and skip to any track. A-Z section headers keep large libraries easy to browse. Also in this update: "Bit-Perfect" has been renamed to "Lossless Passthrough," a more accurate name for how BitDek preserves your music's native sample rate through connected DACs.

Accessibility improvements across the board. BitDek now respects your Dynamic Type preferences throughout the app. Text scales with your chosen size while keeping layouts clean and readable across all settings. Display Zoom works properly too. Album grids, the player, and controls all adapt to the narrower viewport without clipping or collapsing. We also fixed visual artifacts in the library navigation that appeared with the Show Borders accessibility setting enabled.

Fullscreen Visualizers Double-tap, long press, or pinch to expand the visualizer edge-to-edge. All four pages stay swipeable. Tap or pinch to shrink back. Faster Import Browsing The import browser now opens immediately and scans folders in the background as you browse. No more waiting for your entire NAS or external drive to finish mapping before you can start selecting music. Audio Quality Accuracy Lossy files (MP3, AAC, OGG) playing through a wired DAC now show "Nominal Quality" instead of "Bit-Perfect" in the audio quality overlay. Bit-Perfect is reserved for lossless formats where it belongs. Bug Fixes • Fixed blank visualizers that appeared after extended listening sessions • Fixed visualizer stutter during playback • Fixed scrolling lag when selecting all folders during an active scan

FIXES Fixed an issue where the mini player could disappear after returning from the background. The player now reliably displays your current track when you return to BitDek. Control Center now stays in sync with your actual playback state. Previously, switching audio routes (like putting AirPods in their case) could cause Control Center to show the wrong button. Added support for AirPods stem controls to toggle playback.
