What's new in 2.5.5: • Apple Watch: the main screen is now centered on every watch size, and after you tap Check in, the result (confirmed, or didn't count) shows right above the button, no scrolling. • Just me for now: with nobody added yet, the widgets, the Lock Screen and the watch no longer mention contacts. They say only you are emailed. • With Email me first on, you can remove the last person in People. The switch carries on and emails just you. • Setup now spots a slip in your own email address, like gmial.com. • Fixed: changes to a Just me switch could fail to reach the server.

What's new in 2.5.4: • Not ready to name someone? Tap Just me for now in setup: if you miss a check-in, we email you, and you add your people later. • If nothing on your phone can remind you to check in, Home now says when your people will be emailed, with Turn on reminders or Email me first right there. • New to the app? After your first check-in, it shows you once what Pro adds. The free switch keeps running either way. • If Apple can't renew your Pro subscription right away (an expired card, say), Pro keeps working while Apple retries, for up to 16 days. • To learn where setup gets confusing, new installs count which setup steps they reach, as anonymous daily totals. Nothing about you is sent.

What's new in 2.5.3: • Every alert email now has a button your people can tap to say they're checking on you. Only running late? The app shows who tapped it, so you can call them and say you're OK. • Dead Man's Switch now speaks Japanese and Korean: the app, widgets, the Lock Screen countdown, Apple Watch and Siri.

What's new in 2.5.2: • Safety timer (Pro): out for a hike, a run or a first date? Tap “Going out? Start a safety timer”, pick the hours and, if you like, where you're going. If you're not back in time, your people get your message with that note on top. Your next check-in ends it and your usual schedule picks up again. Start one by asking Siri or from the app icon; the widget shows when you're due back. Your Lock Screen and Apple Watch show it too. • Last-call alarm: if you still haven't checked in an hour before your people get your message, your phone rings like an alarm clock, even on silent or in a Focus. Turn it on in Settings > Reminders (iOS 26). Turning on your switch without notifications now offers the alarm right there, and the app suggests it after a late check-in. • Help your people help you: under your message, tap Address, Spare key, Who relies on me, Health or Who to call to add what they'd need if you go quiet. • Check in from the app icon: press and hold Dead Man's Switch on your Home Screen and tap Check in. • One Reminders screen: Settings > Reminders holds your reminders, the last-call alarm and Email me first, and ends with What happens next: each reminder your phone will show, in order, then when your people are told.

What's new in 2.5.1: • Dead Man's Switch is now free. Email alerts, reminders, widgets, Apple Watch, the daily deadline and up to 3 people stay free. • Pro adds short safety timers (check in every 1 to 23 hours) and up to 10 people. Bought the app before it went free? Pro is already yours. • App icons with Pro: pick Pulse, Green, Moon or Daylight in Settings > App icon. Going back to the candle is always free. • On your wrist: a check-in made with Siri or from a reminder now shows on your Apple Watch within seconds, and the watch catches up by itself as your deadline gets close. • On your Lock Screen: open the app in the last 8 hours before your deadline and the time left stays on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a Check in button that works without unlocking. • Typos caught: an address like robin@gmial.com now gets "Did you mean robin@gmail.com?", and placeholder or unfinished addresses are flagged, so your alert reaches the person. • Check in automatically: set up a Shortcuts automation once, and stopping your morning alarm (or plugging in your phone, or opening an app) checks you in. Settings > Check in automatically.

What's new in 2.4: • Apple Watch: see the time left on your watch face and check in with one tap on your wrist. A check-in counts once our server confirms it, just like on your iPhone. • Every day by a set time: one deadline at the same time every day, so checking in early doesn't move it. Choose it in Settings under Check in every. • Reminders first: when you turn the switch on, the app now shows you what a reminder looks like before iOS asks, so you don't miss a check-in by accident. If notifications are off, it tells you and opens Settings. • Let them know: when you add someone, they get one short email from us saying you listed them, so a real alert is never a surprise and they can make sure it doesn't go to spam. It's on by default; switch it off for anyone you'd rather tell yourself. • The widget is easier to read from across the room: a bigger countdown and a full-width Check in button. It also looks right on Tinted and Clear home screens. • Small grey text is brighter and easier to read, including the times on your timeline. • New at the bottom of Settings: More apps from aaon, the maker of Dead Man's Switch. • Now in French, Italian and Dutch too.

What's new in 2.3: • Text alerts in the US and Canada: your contacts can get a text as well as the email. They say yes with one tap on a link you send them. Texts come in small packs; emails stay free. • Now in German and Polish too. • The widget's Check in button shows your new time right away. • Works better with VoiceOver: every screen reads the way you'd say it.
