WhispCal: Calorie Tracker
Real Metabolism & Macro Coach
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
See your real metabolism — not a formula's guess. Autopilot finds your true maintenance and steers your calories every phase: cut, maintain, build.
Every calorie counter gives you a number and leaves you alone with it. WhispCal doesn't.
Autopilot finds your true maintenance calories, then adjusts your targets phase by phase — cut, maintain, build — so you never have to recalculate anything. You log your meals. It steers the journey.
AUTOPILOT — A COACH, NOT A CALCULATOR
Autopilot is the adaptive nutrition program built into WhispCal. It starts by finding your real maintenance — your true TDEE, calibrated from your own weight and intake data, not a generic textbook formula. From there, it periodizes your calories and macros across phases — fat loss, maintenance, reverse diet, lean gains — and recalibrates as your metabolism actually responds.
Most trackers hand you a static number on day one and never look at it again. Autopilot revisits yours constantly. The longer you use it, the more precise it gets. You never do the math. You just follow the plan.
METABOLIC ZONES
WhispCal shows you four calorie zones — Floor, Deficit, Maintenance, and Surplus — so you always know exactly where you stand. A real-time gauge visualization makes nutrition intuitive instead of stressful.
Set a specific daily target or a flexible range. Your call.
LOG MEALS IN 3 SECONDS — VOICE, PHOTO, BARCODE, OR TEXT
Say "two eggs and avocado toast with coffee." WhispCal's voice AI transcribes and logs everything instantly. Point your camera at a plate for AI photo recognition. Scan any barcode for instant nutrition data. Or type naturally and let AI parse the details.
Three seconds. Done. No searching through endless databases. No scrolling. No friction.

1.11.0 Jul 1
Autopilot is smarter about finding your peak maintenance.
Improved
- During a reverse diet — and while finding your maintenance — Autopilot now confirms your new peak from your real week-over-week weight trend instead of an estimate. It waits until two weeks of data genuinely agree your weight is climbing before calling it, and says "still exploring" until then, so you keep climbing as high as you can.
- You can still lock in the peak yourself, or nudge your calories by 200 anytime.
Fixed
- Sharing now opens reliably from the "..." menu on Android.
1.10.8 Jun 24
Open the app and your day is right there.

- The daily step ranges next to each activity level use clearer, coaching-backed figures, so it's easier to pick the level that matches your real day.
1.10.2 Jun 19
Meet Real Burn — and try Premium free for 7 days.

WhispCal now comes in your color.
New
- Themes (beta): pick from 10 hand-tuned palettes — including light themes — in Settings → Theme. Warm charcoal stays the default, and your data and layout don't change a pixel. A few screens may still be tuning their contrast; tell us what looks off!
Improved
- Autopilot now holds steady once it pinpoints your maintenance calories — locking in your current level instead of making an extra step-down.

- Insight cards on Home no longer get stuck dimmed after swiping.
- Double-tapping a meal shortcut no longer opens the log screen twice.

A small reliability pass on drag-to-reorder.

1.2.1 May 25
A friendlier home that meets you at the right moment.
New
- Meal-themed greetings throughout the day — breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, evening
- Slower, cozier greetings on weekend mornings
- A gentle protein nudge in the evening if you're running low on your goal
- A mid-week pat on the back when you've been logging every day
Improved
- Food search now matches accents — type "echalot" and find "Échalotte"
- Food search also matches by brand — type "Danone" to find barcode-scanned items
- Streak celebrations no longer pop up for milestones you passed long ago
- Your brief gets priority on the home screen when it's ready
Fixed
- The brief envelope animates in cleanly instead of appearing mid-sentence
1.1.1 May 21
WhispCal speaks French now — and Autopilot is smarter.
New
- Full French support: the entire interface plus the verified foods catalog (names, serving sizes, and variants like "cooked", "drained", "shredded"). Switch languages anytime from Settings.
Improved
- Autopilot is more patient and accurate. Before recommending a calorie change it now cross-checks two signals — your half-window trend and your actual first-vs-last weigh-in inside the window. If either signal says you're still on track for your phase, Autopilot holds. Fewer unnecessary adjustments triggered by a single week of water-weight noise.
- Cleaner, simpler language picker in Settings.
Fixed
- Tapping the quantity number on a logged meal now reliably opens the editor every time.
1.0.0 May 19
We tidied up the brief flow so it only advances when you actually take action, plus a small but satisfying fix when logging meals.
Improved
- Opening your daily brief no longer counts as "reviewed" — only confirming, postponing, ending a phase, or manually adjusting will mark it done.
- The empty-brief screen now nudges you to log today's weight in one tap instead of just closing.
- The brief stays in sync across midnight, even if you keep the app open overnight.
Fixed
- Calories and macros no longer flicker or briefly double when you submit a meal — the totals stay rock-steady until the screen closes.
- Postpone, end-phase, and manual-adjust actions now correctly mark the brief as reviewed.
0.5.4 May 14
Small touches to keep daily logging snappy and clear.
New
- A floating "items" pill follows you while searching for foods, so the tray you're building stays one tap away — no need to scroll up to see what you've added.
- Calorie and macro bars have a fresh pixel-grid look. They animate smoothly as you add food to your plate, with a brighter highlight when you're inside your calorie zone.
Improved
- Logging a whole recent meal now applies in a single batch, so the list updates faster with less flicker on screen.
Fixed
- Quick Add now shows the correct labels for fat and protein.
0.5.1 May 12
A more decisive Cut.
Improved
- During a Cut, if your weight trend is climbing, Autopilot now drops your calories by 200 kcal — same as when the trend stalls. Previously it would hold and call the gain "probably water"; now that the trend signal is smoothed across multiple days before it's compared, a sustained climb in a deficit is treated as the real thing it is.
- "Adjust by ±200" is now always visible on every brief, giving you a permanent one-tap override whenever Autopilot's call doesn't feel right.
- If the week was unusual (travel, sodium-heavy holiday, chaos), Postpone still skips the comparison. If the real story is fatigue or motivation drain, you can switch to Recharge from the energy prompt. Both paths are unchanged.
0.4.8 May 11
This update sharpens Autopilot's read on your weight trend and makes logging today's weight a single tap.
New
- Log today's weight directly from the Autopilot card on Home — no detour through Settings.
Improved
- Trend detection now matches what your scale actually shows. Both averages are rounded to 0.1 kg before being compared, so a real 100 g shift counts and tiny noise doesn't.
- Postpone is now a one-tap "skip today, check tomorrow" — clearer and less to fiddle with.
- Step averages ignore today's partial count and very-low-step days (sync gaps), so the number reflects what you actually did.
- Progress to the next brief reads in plain days ("3 of 5 days until next brief").
Fixed
- The calendar in the Journey tab's edit screen now actually changes the day you're editing.
- Saving after clearing both weight and steps fields no longer fails silently.
- The Autopilot card and brief refresh right away after you edit a past day's metrics.
- Min/Max/Avg weight tiles now show your unit (lbs or kg) instead of always "kg".
0.4.4 May 7
What's new in WhispCal 0.4.3
New
- Strength Oriented diet style — recommended for anyone training with weights. Protein and fat anchor to your bodyweight (2g/kg protein, 1g/kg fat) so they stay rock-steady through cuts and bulks; carbs flex with your calorie target. This is now the default for new users, and you can switch any time from Settings → Diet style.
Improved
- Diet style is now its own setting under Settings, separate from Change Goals, with a tap-to-learn-more sheet on Strength Oriented showing a worked example using your actual weight.
- When you log a fresh weigh-in (auto-sync, manual sync, or Log Data for today), Strength Oriented users get their protein and fat targets refreshed instantly to match — no more drifting macros after weight changes.
- Manually edited a macro? WhispCal now remembers your custom split and keeps it proportional on every future calorie change, so a deliberate ratio (including 0-carb) survives autopilot adjustments.
Fixed
- All calorie changes — onboarding, edit goals, autopilot brief, and autopilot sheets — now run through one consistent macro calculator, fixing edge cases where bodyweight-based protein targets weren't being applied everywhere.
0.4.3 May 5
Fixed an Autopilot bug that could leave your daily calories stuck at the higher Recharge target after the app switched you back to Descent. Now, when Recharge finishes its job, your calories drop one step and you resume your cut from a fresh baseline — exactly how the pyramid is meant to work.
Thanks to everyone sending feedback. Keep it coming — every report makes WhispCal sharper.
0.4.2 May 4
A small polish update for the Autopilot showcase tour.
Improved
- Several pages of the "What is Autopilot?" tour have been refined: clearer phase explanations, smoother transitions, and a unified brand glow effect across the journey-overview screens.
- Better calorie target page — the math behind your number is easier to follow at a glance.
- Premium feature highlights now use the Autopilot plane icon to match the rest of the app.
Thanks for using WhispCal.
0.4.1 May 3
Smaller update with a couple of refinements to the daily Autopilot brief.
What's new
- A friendlier briefing-day moment on the home screen: a typewriter greeting and a subtle envelope marker right on your day strip, so you can see at a glance which day your next brief lands.
- A quieter "today's brief" card sits above your meals when a brief is waiting — one tap to open it.
Improvements
- The avatar tab badge now gently pulses when there's a brief to read, and goes silent the moment it's done.
- The "next brief" copy is sharper: when Autopilot is sliding the window forward day by day, it now correctly says "Tomorrow" instead of guessing several days out.
Fixes
- If a new day rolls over and you still haven't changed your calories, your brief reliably comes back so you don't miss it.
Thanks for using WhispCal.
0.3.1 May 1

- Foods you've logged from our verified database get a Verified badge, so you can trust what you're adding.
- Search in any language: type "pomme" or "apple" and still find your apple.
- Snappier all round — search is instant when you reopen it, and results ease in cleanly.
