Perfect for meetups. • Rich map cards. Received location bubbles show a clean map thumbnail with a pin, the venue name, address, and distance from you. Tap → choose Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze to get directions. • Rich link previews. URLs you send now show a preview card with title, image, and site name — like iMessage. The preview is fetched by your device and encrypted with the message, so your friend never leaks their IP to the site. • Universal invite links. One share link now handles everything: opens Tesseract directly if it's installed, jumps to the App Store if it's not, and even prompts to update when the sender is on a newer build. Comes with a proper preview card on iMessage, WhatsApp, and everywhere else. • Auto-fill after install. Tap a friend's invite link before installing? When you open Tesseract for the first time, the code is picked up automatically — no need to tap the link twice. • Cleaner Send Location screen. Type in the search bar and get instant place suggestions biased to what's around you. • Fixed the map picker. Dragging the pin to a different spot now actually sends that spot — no more "always my current location". • Notification icons look right. The default push-notification avatar now uses the real Tesseract app icon instead of a placeholder. • Stability. Fixed a rare crash on foreground caused by the app talking to itself during launch. Location messages now deliver reliably even with large map thumbnails.

• Auto-vanishing messages. Every message now self-destructs 5 hours after you first see it — on both your phone and your friend's. Unread messages wait for you. • Long-press to delete. Press and hold any message bubble for Copy, Save, Share, and Delete — clear a single message without waiting for the 5-hour timer. • Screenshot Shield. Screenshots and screen recordings now capture a solid black frame instead of your chats. Off in the app switcher too. Toggle it off any time you actually want to share a screenshot. • Smarter invite links. Sharing an invite now sends a single branded link with a preview card. Friends who already have Tesseract land straight in the Add Friend screen; friends who don't get sent to the App Store; friends on an older version get prompted to update. No more juggling separate links. • Renaming a friend is silent. Picking a new emoji for a friend no longer pings their phone with a "Friend accepted" banner. Rename as often as you like. • Cleaner Plus purchase. After you subscribe, the paywall closes cleanly instead of getting stuck behind another screen. New subscribers no longer get an unexpected Tor connection right after purchase — Tor stays a deliberate opt-in from the Friends tab. • Hidden Developer Menu. Power users can unlock a diagnostics screen (Tor controls, identity readout, wipe tools, and the Screenshot Shield toggle) by entering a special code in Settings → Redeem Promo Code. Ask if you want the code. • Stability. Rewrote the Tor network layer to eliminate the background crash a few users were hitting. Faster reconnects, no more random disconnects.

REQUESTS button in the top right now actually works. When a friend request lands in your inbox you can tap the badge to open it — previously the scroll layer sat on top and swallowed the tap. Adding a friend is now one flow, not two. Paste an invite code (or open one from a shared link) and the emoji picker opens on its own the moment the code looks complete — no need to hit return or tap through a placeholder. Fixes around the new Plus promo-code redemption and the Tor toggle UI. Promo code redemption now works end-to-end — the redeem request carries your identity so the server can grant your Plus deadline. Existing installs auto-migrate to the new tesseract-network.com relay on next launch, regardless of the old scheme or port they had cached. NETWORK tab now reflects the route your traffic is actually taking: shows Tor Off · Direct Route when the Tor toggle is off (instead of misleadingly saying Connected), and updates immediately when you flip the toggle. Notification Disguise, fully rebuilt. The picker was crashing when you tapped presets quickly one after another — that's gone. Icon swaps are now serialized so iOS only ever handles one at a time no matter how fast you tap, and every alt-icon preview shows its actual app-icon in the picker so you can see the full set at a glance. Faster, safer launch. Tor pre-warm and profile bootstrap moved off the main launch path so nothing outside the app's control can slow down or stall the opening screen. Under the hood. More defensive checks throughout the notification and settings screens so state changes from any surface land cleanly.

TESSERACT PLUS is now a paid subscription — the free preview has ended. Existing users, thanks for helping us test. GHOST TEXT, PIXEL SHATTER, CUSTOM TIMER, TOR ROUTING, NOTIFICATION DISGUISE, DURESS PIN and the rest of the suite are all still one tap away in Settings → TESSERACT PLUS. Fixed a crash when cancelling a Tor connection mid-bootstrap — pressing CANCEL while Tor was still connecting could put the network layer into a bad state and take the app down with it. Cancel is now clean; the connect overlay dismisses immediately and Tor tears down without touching the rest of the app.

Tesseract 1.6 is a ground-up rewrite of SecretR00M. WHAT'S NEW • Persistent friendships, not disposable rooms. Add a friend once with a one-shot invite code; they stay in your list under an emoji you pick for them. No more re-creating rooms every session. • Emoji identities. Every friend is represented by an emoji you choose — no photos, no phone numbers, no names to enter or leak. • Disappearing messages. Toggle a self-destruct timer per message; the message wipes from both devices after it expires. Timer duration is configurable. • End-to-end encryption everywhere. Every message is sealed on your device, unsealed only on the recipient's. The server routes but never reads. • Full UI redesign. New "instrument panel" visual language — monospaced typography, hairline borders, live 4D-tesseract signature. Light and dark modes both supported. • Signed friend requests. New cryptographic binding proofs on identity claims and lookups block the server or a man-in-the-middle from ever substituting an impostor's key. • Rebuilt server. New Go relay replaces the old Node stack: faster, per-IP rate limiting, graceful reconnects, offline mailbox for friends who are away. • Tesseract Plus (new subscription). Unlocks Tor routing, Ghost Text (message rendering that cameras can't capture), Pixel Shatter, custom timers, groups, duress PIN, and a 30-day offline mailbox. Free tier remains fully functional for direct messaging. PRIVACY We never see your name, phone number, contacts, or message contents. What the server knows about you: two public keys. That's it. Upgrading from SecretR00M: your old rooms are retired. On first launch the app generates a new identity — add your friends again with a fresh invite code and you're set.

Version 1.4 — FlickerGuard Anti-Camera Text Protection SecretR00M now protects your messages from cameras, screenshots, and screen recordings with three new protection modes: Ghost Text — Messages are rendered at ultra-low contrast using color science that exploits the gap between human vision and camera sensors. Your eyes can read it on screen, but cameras and screenshots capture nothing. Uses isoluminant color shifting that JPEG compression literally destroys. Pixel Shatter — Text is split into hundreds of horizontal strips, each at a different virtual depth. Tilt your phone and the letters shatter apart. There's no single camera angle that can reconstruct the message. Both — Maximum protection. Ghost-colored text that also shatters on tilt. Bug Fixes Fixed duress alert not reaching participants: When the room host was under duress, the silent warning wasn't being delivered to other participants. Now duress alerts work correctly regardless of whether you're hosting or joining a room. Fixed PIN unlock issue: Resolved a bug where the main PIN was incorrectly rejected after setting up a duress PIN. Both PINs now work as expected.

Duress PIN Protection Added a "panic password" feature for users in high-risk situations. Set a secondary PIN that, when used to unlock the app, silently alerts all room participants that you may be under coercion. The alert appears as a system message, giving others a discreet warning without revealing anything suspicious on your screen.
