• Smart Crop
Automatically detects the content area and removes excess margins, making text larger and easier to read on small screens.
• Table of Contents & Bookmarks
Creates clickable navigation for text-based PDFs with recognizable headings. Improved multilingual heading detection reduces interference from headers, footers, and generic page labels, making papers, handouts, and presentation PDFs easier to navigate.
• Reflow
Converts supported multi-column text PDFs into a single-column reading layout to reduce horizontal panning. Results depend on document structure; support for scanned and image-only PDFs is limited.
• Grayscale & Contrast
Convert pages to grayscale while preserving existing searchable text and graphic detail. Adjust image contrast to improve faint scans, with grayscale well suited to e-ink screens and documents that combine text and photos.
• Scanned Black-and-White Enhancement
Clean up gray backgrounds with adjustable stroke preservation and processing resolution. Optional automatic photo detection retains grayscale detail in detected photo areas while applying black-and-white processing to surrounding content.
• Watermark Cleanup
Attempts to remove recognizable watermarks to reduce reading distractions. Results vary with the watermark and document.
• Flexible Compression
Choose Clarity First, Balanced, or Size First to balance readability and file size, or keep images at their original resolution. Optimize images and fonts, and optionally remove attachments and other non-reading data while preserving body content, navigation, and reading links.
• Device View
Check page layouts across 30+ popular e-reader screen profiles. Compare the original with crop and image-processing previews, then inspect the actual generated file.
• Batch Processing & Export
Process multiple PDFs, follow their progress, and quickly export results, reveal them in Finder, or open them in another app.
If Send to Kindle is installed on your Mac, use “Send to…” to hand off your optimized PDF for delivery.
ABOUT PROCESSING RESULTS
• Scanned black-and-white mode converts pages to images and does not retain searchable text. Automatic photo detection may miss some photos; check the preview before processing.
• Watermark cleanup may also convert entire pages to images, removing text search capability on those pages.
• Compression results vary. PDFs that are already efficiently compressed may show little or no reduction in size.
