Once Today
One moment. Once per day.
$1.99
This app only works once per day. That’s not a bug. That’s the point.
Once gives you one thing per day.
When you open the app, you receive a single thing. Maybe a thought, a word, a sound, a question, or maybe something harder to define. After that, the app locks until the next calendar day.
There is no scrolling, no feeds, no history, and no retries. What you see is what you get. Once.
Once gives you a moment, then gets out of the way. Sometimes calm, sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes thought-provoking. It asks nothing from you except a brief glance.
Open it. Experience it. Come back tomorrow.
more What's New:
- Some days, the once isn't a sentence. It's a question, a word you're asked to type, or a small choice. You say your piece. Then it's done, like everything else. It's still one thing, once per day. It just sometimes listens first.
- Sometimes there is a button. It asks nothing of you. Press it or don't. It's the only thing in your life that won't be disappointed either way.
- Occasionally, a thought you type dissolves letter by letter while you watch. Nothing is kept. Nothing is graded. That was always the deal.
- You can now write a note to your future self. It returns in thirty, a hundred, or three hundred and sixty-five days. You will not have changed. Almost no one does.
- Sharing is fixed. The card used to carry a QR code nobody could scan, because the image arrives on the same phone you'd scan it with. It now comes with a normal, tappable link.
Bug Fix:
- Long text now runs edge to edge instead of stacking one word per line, like a poem written by someone who'd never seen a poem. Just kidding, this is still a bug. Or maybe a feature?
- After updates added new things, the app sometimes showed you things you'd already consumed. What you've seen stays seen now; new things mix in with the rest.
Known Issues:
- Waiting for your own note is the feature. It will not arrive early.
- The button still does nothing.
- You still only get one thing per day. This has not changed. This will not change.

What's New:
* When you share your daily thing, there is now a tiny QR code there. It points to the App Store. We made it nearly invisible. Small. Quiet. You can share what you received without feeling like you are selling something to your friends. You are. But at least it's subtle.
* If you leave and come back, the app notices. It will tell you how many days you were gone. Time passed without you. The streak reset. The world didn't end. Neither did this. It's a statement of fact. Not guilt. Math.
* The notification now says something different every day. We wrote many of them. They range from mildly amusing to vaguely unsettling. The old one was boring. It said the same thing every day for months. So did your inner monologue. Now at least one of those has variety.
* Tap any archived item to see it again. The full thing. Not just the first line. Not just a label that said "Sound" when what you actually heard was a chair creaking back and forth in an empty room. It was a feature not a bug. But now it’s fixed.
* The locked screen no longer collapses into itself when something important is about to happen. Elements were stacking on top of each other like a polite crowd that refused to admit the room was too small. Now they have space. This is the least exciting fix in this update. It is also the one you would have complained about the most if we had not done it.
Bug Fix:
* The Archive used to show a preview of your consumed items that was sometimes wrong and always incomplete. A three-line poem would show its first line. A sentence that built toward a reveal showed only the setup. A vibration pattern showed the word "Vibration pattern." Tap any archived item now. See the full thing, exactly as it appeared that day. The preview still exists. It just no longer lies to you.
* The locked screen used to stack too many things on top of each other when a milestone was approaching. The countdown, the share button, the emoji, the streak, and a line hinting that something was about to change all competed for the same space. Now the hint lives inside the card where it belongs. The crowding is gone. You probably never noticed it. Most people don't notice things that work.
Known Issues:
* You still only get one thing per day. This has not changed. This will not change.
* The QR code cannot be removed from the share card. Consider it permanent. Like a tattoo. A very small, well-designed tattoo.

What's New:
* Notifications now work. Yesterday we told you we'd remind you at 8pm. We lied. Not on purpose. We lied the way a person lies when they're very confident and completely wrong. Today we fixed it. The reminder is real. Tonight, 12am, when your new thing unlocks, your phone will tell you. Trust us. We are never wrong.
Bug Fixes:
* Fixed a bug where notifications were scheduled using an API that does not exist in this version of the library. We referenced an enum. The enum was not there. It has never been there. We have stopped referencing it.
* Changed the notification time from 8pm to midnight. This is when your new thing actually unlocks. Reminding you at 8pm that something would be ready in four hours was, in retrospect, more of a tease than a reminder. We have corrected the philosophy.
Known Issues:
* We are reasonably confident notifications work now.
* Yesterday's release note said you would receive a notification at 8pm. You will not. You will receive one at midnight. We are updating the record.
* You still only get one thing per day. This is not a bug. Please stop asking.

What's New:
- We added a progress bar that makes you wait eight seconds before you can consume your daily thing. This is intentional. Sit with it. You were going to scroll past it anyway.
- The Archive now shows a dot for every day since you installed this app. Gold, purple, grey, or nothing. You know what the nothing means. We don't need to say it.
- Your consumed items are now grouped by month. Time is passing. We thought you should see it organized.
- You can now react to your daily thing immediately after consuming it. A single emoji. That's all we give you. No text field, no rating system, no space to explain yourself. Pick something and move on.
- If you forgot, or couldn't decide, or just stared at it and felt nothing and closed the app, the Archive remembers. Your reactions live there. You can go back. Add the emoji you were too stunned to pick the first time. We'll wait.
- Something happens if you keep showing up. We're not going to tell you what. We're not going to tell you when.
- You will now receive a notification at 8pm. We asked nicely. You said yes. We will remind you once, every day, for as long as you allow it.
Bug Fix:
- Fixed a bug where the Archive showed you what type of thing you consumed but not the thing itself. Like a receipt that says "food" instead of what you ordered. You ordered the pasta. You deserved to see the pasta.
- Fixed text across the entire app that was technically white but functionally invisible. Someone (no names) had been stacking two layers of transparency on top of each other, achieving the visual effect of writing in fog on a foggy day. The labels were there. The context was there. The durations, the prompts, the meditations. All there. All the color of a ghost's whisper. We have corrected this. You can now read the app you downloaded.
Known Issues:
- The dot grid only goes back to when you installed the app. Before that, you were fine on your own. Probably.
- The eight seconds cannot be skipped. We checked. It can't.
- You still only get one thing per day. This has not changed. This will not change.

What's New:
- You can now share your daily once. Show people the thing. Make them feel the thing. They didn't ask for this. Give it to them anyway.
- We counted how many days in a row you've opened this app. We're not sure why. It's there now.
- You can now see everything you've already consumed in the Archive. In case you forgot. In case you need to remember that one thing you read three weeks ago that made you feel something.
- Fixed a bug where large numbers were being clipped at the top. The numbers are fine. They were always fine. We just couldn't see them.
- Added more things. 231 more things, to be exact. We had thoughts.
Known Issues:
- The streak will reset if you miss a day. We considered making it forgiving. We did not.
- The Archive only goes forward from now. The past is gone. This is also intentional.
- You still only get one thing per day.
