TaxMiles now calculates under the scheme you actually file under: • United States — IRS • United Kingdom — HMRC • Canada — CRA • Australia — ATO • Ireland — Revenue • Germany — Bundesministerium der Finanzen • Netherlands — Belastingdienst • Spain — AEAT • New Zealand — Inland Revenue • South Africa — SARS Every rate was checked against the authority that publishes it, with a link to the source in the app. Distances follow the scheme, not your phone. The UK claims in miles; Canada, Germany and the rest claim in kilometres. Deductions show in the currency you'll file in. Tiered rates are handled properly. The UK pays a higher rate for the first 10,000 miles of the year and less after. Canada does the same for the first 5,000 km. TaxMiles tracks where you are in the year and applies the right band automatically. Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut drivers are paid more per kilometre than the provinces. Your phone can't tell which part of Canada you're in, so tell TaxMiles once in Settings and every calculation follows. Where a scheme varies by vehicle, you can say which you drive — engine size in Ireland, fuel type in New Zealand. PRIVATE ON-DEVICE INTELLIGENCE A mileage log is a detailed record of where you were and when. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, TaxMiles now answers tax questions and classifies trips using Apple's on-device model — no internet, no server, and nothing about your movements leaving your phone. It's also unlimited, because there's no per-answer cost. Requires a device with Apple Intelligence switched on; otherwise the existing assistant works as before. MORE RELIABLE TRACKING, LESS BATTERY Automatic trip detection has been rebuilt on Apple's newest location APIs. Visit detection and region monitoring do the waiting for you instead of holding GPS open, so trips start and end more reliably while using less battery.
