more Bank SMS, smarter
• To review now tells you what each bank SMS is before you open it, like "Groceries › Supermarket · same as last 4 visits". Add saves the ones Spencio is sure about in one tap.
• Swipe left to remove a text. Every removal can be undone.
• Mark a text as "Not a transaction" and Spencio can skip similar ones from that bank. Manage them in SMS tracking › Skipped texts.
• When Spencio can't read a bank's message format, tap the amount and the shop once and it reads texts like that on its own. See them in SMS tracking › Message formats.
Categories and rules
• Merchant rules can file to a subcategory, like Velora House → Food › Dining out. "Add subcategories" updates your existing rules in one go and can move their past transactions.
• A quicker category picker that searches across categories and subcategories.
• Better suggestions for tolls, fuel, taxis, buses and car repairs.
• Account and merchant rules now sit together at the top of SMS tracking.
Also new
• Add a bank charge when editing a transfer.
• You can start using Spencio without setting a budget.
Fixes
• The same bank SMS could show up twice in To review.
• A subcategory picked while reviewing a bank SMS is no longer lost.
• Deleting a merchant rule can now be undone.
• On Auto, the Home card shows when your budget ran out, including on the last day of the month.
• The Bills and + Budget buttons on Plan no longer touch.
2.30.0 18h ago
Subcategories
• Split a category into kinds, like Food & Dining › Coffee. Turn them on in Categories; budgets and insights still count them under the main category.
• Turning them on adds ready-made kinds to each category, with Undo.
• On the add screen, a category's subcategories show right under it, and Change category opens as a grid with subcategories inside each category.
• Bank SMS are filed under the right kind, like Uber under Transport › Taxi. When Spencio isn't sure (Keells: Supermarket or Snacks?), it asks in the notification and learns from your pick.
• A "Which kind?" card on transactions that sit only on a main category.
Subscriptions
• Already paid a subscription? Link the payment from Activity instead of adding it again.
• Bank SMS charges are matched to their subscription, so a renewal isn't counted twice.
Web dashboard
• Settings → Web dashboard lists your signed-in computers and where they are. Sign them out from your phone.
Home
• Home card settings have a live preview and an Off option.
Fixes
• A transfer's bank charge is always taken from the sending account. If the account can't cover both, Spencio tells you instead of saving the transfer without it.
• Home's Auto card switches to the run-out date when you spend fast lately, and back once you slow down.
• The Activity search hint uses your main currency.

2.10.3 Oct 23
Group funds
- When a member pays into your account and the bank message carries their payment reference (like ELLA-KIRAN), Spencio now records it in the fund for you. A message that only names them, or repeats a payment already recorded, waits for your review instead of becoming personal income.
- If two funds share a reference, the payment goes to the fund where that person still owes. If Spencio cannot tell, it asks you.
- Each group fund now has one shared page for everyone, instead of one link per member.
Sharing
- Free accounts can share a link for one group fund and for loans with two people. Spencio Plus unlocks more links.
Everything else
- Delete a transaction instantly. An Undo bar brings it back.
- The update prompt now shows what is new, and Later snoozes it for a day.
2.6.0 Oct 21
- New: change a transaction's title. Tap the title on a transaction to rename it. For a transaction that came from a bank message you can see the original text, go back to it, and rename every past and future transaction from that merchant at once
- Loans: you can now delete a person with all their loans from their menu, and open a settled loan from History to delete it. Deleting a loan also removes its history entries
- Adding a loan now tells you what is missing (amount, who, which account) under each field instead of doing nothing, and has a switch to record the loan without changing the account balance
- Choosing an account for a loan opens a new, easier sheet with search, filters and balances, and dates open in a bottom sheet instead of a pop-up
- Year view charts now animate in like the other Insights charts
- Large amounts no longer split over several lines on Spending patterns, Budgets, the Home "Safe to spend" figure and a bank account's In and Out totals
- Group fund links now use the same website as loan pages
- Fixed notifications not appearing on some phones where the notification icon could not be found
- Fixed a crash-loop in progress bars on very narrow layouts, and stopped reporting temporary server errors and sign-out notices as problems
2.5.0 Oct 19
- New Merchant rules section under SMS tracking: see, add, edit and delete the merchant-to-category rules, with the same look as Account rules
- Messages from banks Spencio doesn't know yet now match your account by the card's last 4 digits
- Loan share links and the web dashboard are now part of Spencio Plus
- Share link sheet: drag down to close it, and edit your name and payment details right in the sheet
- Backup: the last backup time is now remembered after you close the app
2.2.2 Oct 17

2.1.9 Oct 16
What's new in 2.1.3
Subscriptions
• Spencio now scans your last 14 months of spending for repeating charges and walks you through setting them up as subscriptions.
• Review each one, confirm the amount, or add ones you've already cancelled.
Bank SMS tracking
• Card statements and payment reminders are no longer picked up as transactions.
• Messages are matched to the right account using the account number in the SMS.
• When a transfer sends two messages (the debit alert and the confirmation), Spencio now records it once, and shows the bank's fee as a separate bank charge.
• If an account doesn't have enough balance to log an expense, Spencio tells you why and offers to add funds.
• Improved reading of People's Bank messages, including balance and time.
Thanks for using Spencio. If a bank message isn't read correctly, you can report it from the review screen and it helps us add support.
2.1.3 Oct 15
Bring your history with you
• Import from Money Manager backups (.mmbak) and CSV exports from apps like Spendee and YNAB
• Match accounts and categories on separate screens, keep unmatched ones as tags, and undo an import for 7 days
• Balance adjustments are imported as adjustments, not expenses, and transfers between merged accounts are not counted twice
• After importing, add card limits, statement days, loan terms and bank details. Accounts still missing them show an "Incomplete" tag
Bank message detection
• If you have two accounts at the same bank, messages are now matched by the last four digits instead of all going to the first account
• Bank account messages (such as "AC **1234") are no longer mistaken for card messages
• Transfer messages now show the person's name as the merchant
2.1.1 Oct 14
Few known bugs and errors are fixed
2.0.9 Oct 11
- Fixes: bank messages where the merchant name is followed by a comma, such as "ANTHROPIC, PBC", are now logged with the merchant as the title instead of an empty one
- Those transactions can now be categorised by your merchant rules instead of landing as uncategorised

Automatic Bank Transaction Tracking
The biggest update yet: Spencio can now log your transactions for you. On Android, it reads incoming bank SMS directly. On iOS, a one-time Shortcuts setup (with a new one-tap "Quick Setup") hands matching messages to Spencio in the background.
• Smart categorization - Spencio learns which category each merchant belongs to and applies it automatically next time
• Accurate account matching - transactions are matched to the right account or card, not dumped into one default
• Nothing posted blindly - anything Spencio isn't confident about goes to a new "Needs Review" list with a notification, instead of guessing
• Full control - review, edit, or delete the merchant and account rules Spencio has learned, anytime in Settings
• Your setting follows you - the Bank Import toggle now syncs across devices, so reinstalling or switching phones won't silently turn it off
Also in this release:
• Fully paid installment plans now move to a History section, so your active list only shows what's still outstanding
• Fixed bank SMS transactions posting at midnight instead of the real message time
• Fixed several real-world bank SMS parsing edge cases
• General reliability and bug fixes

- New Subscriptions screen (accessible from the menu), see active and cancelled subscriptions, with your total monthly spend at a glance.
- Add a subscription with its amount, account, category, billing cycle (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly), and start date.
- Auto-logged renewals: on its due date, a subscription is automatically posted as an expense, so you don't have to remember to log it yourself.

- Cancel, reactivate, or delete a subscription at any time.
