Search now shows only the boxes that match, big box lists load faster, and your boxes are harder to lose. Paid plans also get up to 10 photos per box. SEARCH SHOWS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR A search could bring back boxes that had nothing to do with what you typed. A stray space at the start or end of a description made that box match every search, and short words like "a" or "of" made others match far too many, so on a big move the right box was buried among the wrong ones. One customer unpacking more than 150 boxes found more than a dozen of them turning up in every search. Results now come only from words in a box's name, contents or room. Plurals and common alternatives still count, so "screwdrivers" still finds "screwdriver". BIG MOVES LOAD FASTER Opening the box list used to download the full-size photo of every box at once. On a big move that took a long time, and some photos never appeared. Photos now load as you scroll to them, as smaller previews made for the list, and a box you open no longer waits behind the rest. Your photos are unchanged: open a box to see them full size. YOUR BOXES ARE HARDER TO LOSE If a save failed on a weak signal, it used to wait until you happened to type something else, and if you left the screen first, that change could be lost. Now a failed save keeps retrying on its own while the box is open. And whatever you entered in the moment before closing a box or switching apps is now saved straight away instead of being dropped. In the box list, the delete button sat right beside Print, and it was too easy to hit the wrong one. It's gone from the list. You can still delete a box from its own page, where you're asked to confirm, or select several at once. FAMILY INVITES SHOW UP On some Family accounts the option to invite people never appeared, even though the plan included it. The app was asking only the App Store about your plan; it now also asks your BoxBuddy account, which is what invites depend on. UP TO 10 PHOTOS PER BOX Paid plans now hold up to 10 photos per box, up from 5, so a box packed in layers can show each one. Free accounts keep 2 per box. Printed labels still show up to five. ADD A BOX, IN THE ORDER YOU PACK Adding a box now goes Photo, Describe, Room, Organize: what's in it first, where it goes after. The room still carries over from your last box, and is now named at the top of the screen with a tap to change it. PACKING REMINDERS, IF YOU WANT THEM Until you've added 10 boxes, BoxBuddy can remind you to add the next one: a day after you were last in the app, and again after three. It asks once, after you add a box, and sends nothing unless you allow it. SHARED MOVES If you've joined someone else's move and it reaches the free limit, you now see that the move's owner needs to upgrade, instead of a purchase screen that couldn't have raised the limit for you. ALSO • On iPhone, BoxBuddy now stays upright when you turn the phone. iPad still rotates. • Page numbers on the printed inventory report are bigger, bolder and clear of the bottom edge, where many printers cut them off. The important one first: if you added a box and later found it gone, that was us. It's fixed. YOUR BOXES STAY PUT Add a box — photo, contents and all — then leave the screen without tapping Done, and the box could be deleted a few seconds later. The footer even told you it had auto-saved, and it had. A cleanup step meant to tidy away blank, abandoned boxes was taking filled-in ones with it. It now asks whether there is anything in the box before removing it: a photo, contents or a voice note makes it yours, tapped Done or not. Genuinely empty boxes are still cleaned up, so your list stays tidy. "SAVING" NOW MEANS SAVING The footer said "Auto-saved. You can safely leave this screen" from the moment you stopped typing — while the save was still in flight. It now reads "Saving draft..." until the save has actually landed, then switches. A small change to what it says, a large change to whether you can trust it. MORE THAN ONE MOVE BoxBuddy has always handled several moves at once — the house and the storage unit, this year's move and last year's — but there was no way to create a second one unless you had none at all. Settings > Manage Move now has a New Move button. Name it and you land straight in it; your existing boxes stay exactly where they are, and you can switch back any time. In inventory mode it reads New Inventory. LONG ROOM NAMES NO LONGER OVERLAP Thank you to everyone who wrote in about overlapping labels on the 10-per-page sheets. The sheet was measured correctly; the room name was the problem. Something like "KITCHEN - Entertaining / Serving" ran past the bottom of its own label, printed through the box number, and landed on the label below. Long names now shrink to fit, wrap at most twice, and end in an ellipsis rather than running off the edge. Short names print exactly as before, at full size. Same fix on the 12-per-page squares, which had it worse. FIVE LABELS PER BOX Labels per box now goes to five — four sides plus the top, which is what most people are doing anyway. PHOTOS IN THE EDIT SCREEN Add a photo to an existing box and keep typing while it uploads, and the next auto-save could remove the photo that had just arrived. Fixed. Every change here came from someone telling us something was wrong. Two of them from a single report detailed enough that we could find the exact minute in the server logs. Faster setup, and a steadier app when you're packing at speed. SET UP IN TWO QUESTIONS Getting started used to take four screens, two of which only explained things. Now it's two questions — what you're working on, and when you're moving — and you land straight on the add-box screen, ready to go. Not moving? It's a single question. In a hurry? There's a Skip button that takes you right to your first box. THE QUICK TOUR MOVED The rundown of what each toolbar button does now appears on your home screen after your first box, when it actually makes sense, instead of before you've seen the app work. Dismiss it whenever you like. PHOTOS LOAD FASTER AND USE LESS DATA Your box photos are now kept for the session instead of being downloaded again every time they scroll back into view. Long box lists feel quicker, and your data plan gets a break. SAVING IS STEADIER WHEN YOU'RE MOVING FAST Adding photos and typing quickly through a big box could outrun our server's speed limit, and changes could fail to save. The app now waits a moment and tries again instead of giving up — and if something still hasn't saved, you get a clear warning before you leave the screen rather than a line of small grey text. DELETED PHOTOS STAY DELETED Delete a photo while it was still uploading and it could quietly reappear a moment later. It doesn't anymore. CLEARER PLAN DETAILS The upgrade screen now explains what you're actually getting: a year of BoxBuddy, and most people only need the one. Pack, move, unpack, done. ALSO FIXED • Plan wording on the sign-in and invite screens no longer overstates what Pro includes • Label roll sizes no longer read as a list of supported printers Thanks for the reports — genuinely. This release is all about polish — the rough edges you told us about, smoothed out. STICKY NOTIFICATIONS ARE GONE Scan a QR label and the "Box Found!" message used to park itself on your screen and stay there. Notifications now clear themselves properly, and they're timed by importance — quick confirmations get out of your way fast, while errors stay long enough to actually read. UPGRADE PROMPTS THAT BEHAVE If you were near your box limit, the upgrade screen could reappear every time you added a photo, and your box wouldn't save. That loop is fixed. The screen now shows your real box count instead of a placeholder, and if you've been on a paid plan before, it tells you plainly that your existing boxes are safe and still editable. ONE APP, EVERY SCREEN BoxBuddy on a laptop or tablet used to rearrange itself into a completely different layout. Now it looks and works the same everywhere — same navigation, same screens, whatever you're holding. PHOTOS NO LONGER DISAPPEAR QUIETLY If a photo upload failed in the background, it used to vanish without a word. Failed uploads now show up with a retry option, so nothing is lost silently. SHARED MOVES MADE CLEARER If the owner of a move you've joined doesn't have an active plan, BoxBuddy now explains that instead of offering you an upgrade that couldn't have helped. ALSO FIXED • Restore Purchases no longer says it worked when there was nothing to restore • Subscription changes register immediately instead of waiting for a restart • A warning before printing if a label photo didn't load, instead of a blank spot • Abandoned draft boxes are cleaned up instead of counting against your total • Clearer message when setup fails during onboarding, instead of a dead end • Your box list no longer briefly shows another move's boxes after switching Thanks for the reports — genuinely.
