WHY I BUILT THIS
I built Vernalo for myself. Keeping track of watering, rainfall, fertilizer types, and when I last applied them is a real task, and it only gets harder once you're juggling companion planting and what to grow after last season's crop. I wanted a little backup: a way to see at a glance that I already fertilized these tomatoes, or that this plant's growth stage means it needs less water this week, not more.
Life is busy, and it's frustrating when a plant underproduces, withers, or gets covered in aphids or cabbage moths. Vernalo shows me the companion plants that will help my existing garden before I plant them, warns me when I'm about to plant something that will hinder what's already growing, and helps me learn to read each plant's growth stages instead of guessing.
PLAN YOUR GARDEN
Create raised beds with a tap, or place individual plants anywhere on your canvas with spacing guides that show how much room each crop needs. For larger areas, paint a whole section with one crop and apply watering or fertilizer per area. For smaller ones, keep notes on each plant that stay with it in its history.
COMPANION PLANTING AND CROP ROTATION
See which plants help each other and which ones clash, drawn from established gardening science. Crop rotation warnings catch it when you're about to plant the same family in the same spot again.
KNOW WHEN TO PLANT
A planting calendar tied to your local frost dates shows when to start seeds, transplant, and harvest. "What to Plant Now" gives today's best options for your location and the week ahead. The succession slider lets you plan months out, so you know what's going in the moment the current crop comes up.
WATER AND FEED WITHOUT GUESSING
Choose a standard fertilizer ratio or build your own recipe. Quick-log buttons mark watering and fertilizing in seconds. Next time you wonder whether you already fed the tomatoes, the answer is one glance away.
DESIGN THE WHOLE GARDEN
Sketch paths, fences, and water features with the design paint tool, and drop in notes anywhere. As you harvest and replant, Vernalo keeps the history: what grew there, what came before it, and the year before that. Every season builds on the last.
