Version 4.0 introduces a new "Visit fishing port" feature that displays the nearest fishing ports within a two-hour access of Tokyo. Since there are no fishing ports within Tokyo itself, the destinations are limited to Kanagawa Prefecture, located just to the south. This update adds Misaki Port—one of Japan's 13 largest and most important fishing ports—to the list. The PRO features offer not only standard sushi options like tuna rolls and natto rolls but also "Takabe" (yellow-striped butterfish), a rare fish from Kozushima in the Izu Islands. Takabe is good for grilling to eat, not for Sushi, since it is very fatty.

What's New in Version 4.0 Discover local places around Japan that are closely connected to the sea and sushi culture. Version 4.0 introduces local fish markets, fisheries, sushi restaurants, and fish-dish restaurants. We currently focus on places in Kanagawa, just south of Tokyo, that can be reached within about two hours from Tokyo. This makes it possible to enjoy a full one-day experience—from an early-morning fish market or auction, to fresh local fish, and finally great dinner in Tokyo at night. Why go to the famous fish markets in central Tokyo if you want to discover local fish? Tokyo itself has no active fishing ports. Much of the fish sold in the large markets in Tokyo comes from other parts of Japan and overseas. In Kanagawa, however, you can visit local fishing ports and markets and see fish brought in from the nearby sea. The places listed in this app are selected so you can experience fresh, local fish at the source, rather than only seeing it after it has arrived in Tokyo. These places are selected based on local tourist information and the real local experience of a government licensed tour guide who knows the local fishing areas and has worked / enjoyed there as a ship master, an angler, and a sailor. The recommendations are based on personal research and local knowledge, not simply information found on the Internet. You can discover friendly local places with good quality and good value—and experience a side of Japan that many visitors may never see. More areas in Kanagawa and places around Japan will be added in future updates.

This app offers a wealth of information about sushi for free. It is lightweight—under 15MB—and can be used offline without a Wi-Fi connection. Features include a function that reads out sushi orders in Japanese, options to specify requests like "no wasabi" (sabi-nuki) to your Sushi master, and the display of common sushi names in nine languages. Even if you aren't fluent in Japanese, you can use this app to learn about Japanese food culture before your trip, and then enjoy authentic sushi at the counter of a genuine sushi restaurant like a local once you arrive in Japan. The new "Statistics" feature allows you to view a record of your favorite sushi for lifelong. The "Sushi I ate" list has been updated to include new toppings such as *engawa* (flounder fin muscle), *ankimo* (anglerfish liver), and *tobiko* (flying fish roe). While access to the full catalog of approximately 120 sushi toppings and multiple visit logs requires a paid upgrade, these records will serve as wonderful mementos of your trip.

Explanations and illustrations regarding the display of food preferences like 'No Wasabi' have been added to the "How to Order" screen. The "Statistics" feature now allows you to view your sushi consumption history via numerical data (Free mode) and graphs (Pro mode) . Additionally, a new entry about 'Negima' has been added to the FAQ.

Sushi I Ate now lets you record the sushi you actually eat, building the foundation for future statistics about your sushi experiences. The illustrated Fish Dictionary has also been moved to the top of the Glossary for easier access. Fixed minor bugs.

Several commercial fishing methods have been added to the glossary as "Catch Methods". You can find an explanation of "umami" in the "Taste" section of the glossary.

To answer frequently asked questions about the growth rate of tuna, a table and a diagram in the explanation of tuna sushi is added. Responding to requests for multilingual fish dictionaries, Chinese text and pronunciation buttons to 100 fish cards are added. A glossary of phrases used by sushi chefs and cooks in various languages is also included in Glossary.
