Rowing is a sport of its own now. Create a rowing challenge, combine it with running, walking, cycling or swimming for a distance or time challenge, log a row by hand, filter the Pacers leaderboard to rowing, and see a Row bar on your profile graph. Rows from Garmin, Strava, Apple Health, Health Connect, Polar, Oura, WHOOP and Fitbit all count.
Hi-fives are easier to keep up with. Several hi-fives on the same activity arrive as one notification, tapping it opens that activity, and tapping the hi-five count on your own activity shows you who sent them. People accepting the same challenge are grouped the same way.
Also in this update:
• Garmin heart-rate zones are back. If your Garmin runs were scoring as all Zone 1, they will not any more.
• Challenge activity feeds show only the people who have accepted, and distance and time challenges no longer list daily step totals as activities.
• An activity you log by hand into a challenge now shows on your profile and can be hi-fived like any other.
• The challenge header fits on one line at every text size, and hi-fives look the same on every screen.
• When a challenge caps what counts, the message tells you the real limit.

Mix your sports, and see the math
Challenges can now count more than one sport. Pick running, walking, cycling and swimming together for a distance or time challenge, and cap how many minutes count per day so a long weekend ride does not run away with the week.
Heart-rate zone challenges show their work. Every activity has a zone strip, and a small plus opens the breakdown: minutes in each zone, what they were worth, and the total. "Which devices count?" takes you to the list of sources that deliver zones.
Also in this update:
• The app is faster. Home, your Profile tab, chats and challenge pages all make far fewer trips to the server.
• Set your date of birth from a calendar instead of typing it.
• A redesigned co-workout picker, a "+ Co-workout" button on your activities, and "Requested" shown right beside the source.
• Tap the OutPace logo in any tab to jump back Home.
• The Home relay card tells you when a relay you have not joined is coming up.
• "Challenge 1v1" on every profile, and a red check beside anyone who has logged activity.
• Fixed the All Public filters on the Pacers tab, and the timezone note when creating a challenge now says how days and deadlines really work.

See how you stack up against everyone
The Pacers tab has a new All Public leaderboard: every public OutPace member with activity this week, this month, this year or all time, ranked. You can leave it any time in Settings, General.
The leaderboard itself learned some new tricks. Pick the metric you care about: distance, time, steps, calories or number of activities. Then narrow it to running, walking, cycling or swimming. Your row sits at your real rank, wherever that is.
Also in this update:
• Your profile now has a QR code, in Settings, General. Anyone can point their camera at it to open your profile, even if they do not have OutPace yet.
• The Pacers leaderboard now counts Oura, WHOOP and Polar activity, so some numbers went up.
• Challenges that have not started yet say so. "Starts in 5 days" instead of counting down to the end.
• When you accept a recurring challenge, staying in for the next round is on by default. One tap turns it off.
• Chat headers show the other person's photo again.
• Fixed buttons that squeezed or wrapped at larger text sizes.

Your everyday walking counts
If you get your steps in without recording a workout, those miles were not always finding their way onto your profile. Now they do, for a lot more people. And if your phone is sending us steps but not distance, OutPace will tell you, and show you exactly which Health setting to turn on.
Also in this update:
• Tap any bar on your activity graph to see what that day actually was, broken out into recorded activity and everyday walking, with the date.
• Workouts you did together can name everyone who was there, not just the first person to confirm.
• Your own profile always opens for you, even when it is set to private.
• Trophy Case and Badges now show you when there is more to scroll.
• Finished challenges no longer offer a way to join them.
• A steadier chat box that stays out of the way of the message you are reading.
• Your weekly Pacers leaderboard now follows your own clock, so it no longer resets early on a Sunday evening.
Plus fixes and polish throughout. See you out there!

Faster out of the gate
We rebuilt how OutPace starts up. The app opens noticeably quicker,
feeds respond faster, and everything settles into place sooner,
especially on Android.
Also in this update:
• Activity graphs on friend profiles. Visit any public profile to see
their weekly, monthly, and yearly activity, with a new picker for
miles, runs, walks, rides, swims, steps, minutes, elevation, and
sleep.
• The Weekly Relay now runs on your clock. Your week counts Monday
through Sunday in your own timezone, the countdown matches your
local time, and results go final only after every member's sync
deadline passes.
• Under the hood: sturdier sign in on cold starts, and smarter timing
for background work so it never competes with what you see first.
Plus plenty of fixes and polish. See you out there!
1.0.13 Sep 1
Your activity, at a glance
The new profile graph shows your miles, runs, walks, rides, swims, steps,
minutes, elevation and sleep by week, month or year. Everyday walking
shows up as its own band, so you can see all movement, not just workouts.
Also in this update:
• Invite links now open straight in the app when you have OutPace
installed. No more detours through the browser.
• A guided tour introduces the app after you sign up. You can replay it
anytime from Settings.
• Much better support for larger text sizes across the whole app.
• Notifications got more reliable, and confirming a co workout from its
notification is now one tap.
• Sharing from iMessage is cleaner: one tappable card with a live
leaderboard.
Plus dozens of fixes and polish. See you out there!
1.0.12 Aug 29
• Heart rate zones now use your real age. We ask for your date of birth during setup, and you can change it any time from your profile.
• Don't want to share it yet? Your zones still work — they're just clearly marked as estimated, so you always know what you're looking at.
• Shared challenge links now show their preview card right away in Messages and WhatsApp.
• Clearer consent when connecting Strava.
• Faster app startup.
1.0.11 Aug 25

• Bug fixes and performance improvements
1.0.10 Aug 23
• Garmin watches now sync sleep into OutPace, joining Oura, Apple Watch, and Polar.
• A finished challenge stays on your list until results are final at 6 PM the next day, so late-syncing watches still count.
• Creating a challenge no longer opens the share sheet on you — share whenever you're ready.
• Shared challenge links now unfurl as a card in Messages.
• Fixed: the Invite Pacers list wouldn't scroll.
• Fixed: a pacer's follower count now updates the moment you follow.
• Fixed: step totals on the Pacers leaderboard could count a workout twice.
1.0.9 Aug 17
Four new ways to compete: Elevation, Calories, Sleep, and Heart-Rate Zones.
• Apple Health now syncs in the background — your workouts land without
opening the app.
• Heart-rate-zone challenges score real time-in-zone, not just average BPM.
• Sleep challenges, powered by Oura, Apple Health, or Polar.
• Connect Instagram and Facebook to your profile.
• Results are now final at 6 PM the day after a challenge ends, so
late-syncing watches still count. A banner tells you when results are
pending.
• Log Activity is back on the Challenges tab for manual entries.
• Swipe left on your own activity to delete it.
• Everyone on a relay team can now set the team photo.
• Much faster: the home screen and Pacers list load significantly quicker.
• Plenty of fixes to syncing, sharing, and duplicate activities.
1.0.8 Aug 14

Pick your own Relay team
Joining an open team now shows you which teams have room, so you can choose
where you land. Still want it decided for you? "Pick one for me" puts you with
the squad closest to filling up. You can also join a second team without
leaving the one you are on.
Bring back more than one squad
If you were on several teams last week, re-forming now lets you pick which ones
you want back instead of choosing for you.
Notification badge
The app icon now shows how many things are waiting on you: unread messages,
challenge invites, pacer requests and Relay invites. It clears as you read them.
Set a challenge to repeat when you create it
Weekly and monthly challenges now have a repeat toggle right on the create
screen, instead of only in the menu after the challenge exists.
Also in this update
Connected Accounts now has a clear Disconnect button for each service.

You now get a clear message when you reach the three team Relay limit.

The unread count now agrees across every tab.
Fixes to Apple Health connection state, the logo, and profile setup.

You can now add a backup email, so you can still get into your account if you ever lose access to your main one.
