WingPrint
Footprint Map, Journey Tracker
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
2.11 is our stability release: fixes the occasional freeze while recording, the lag after returning from background, and the interference with third-party music. Walk on.
WingPrint Your walks, remembered.
The gentlest way to keep every walk you've ever taken.
Not another running app, a walking journal you and your city write together.
Why WingPrint
- Truly battery-friendly: 24-hour background recording under 5% battery
- Privacy first: every track stays on your device and in your own iCloud, never our servers
- Works worldwide: mainland China coordinates are auto-corrected, overseas cities auto-tagged with country and region
- No ads, no forced upgrades, no social tracking
What's Inside
- Track recording: one tap to start, keeps recording GPS walks, cycling, hikes, and commutes with the screen locked
- Light up the world: every city you walk into turns on, with running totals for Chinese provinces and countries visited
- Recap sheets: weekly, half-year, and yearly recaps that replay your routes on the map
- Share posters: one-tap poster for any track, plus standard GPX export
- Apple Health: log any track as an Outdoor Walk workout with distance, duration, and route
- Dark map: night-friendly palette that doesn't burn your eyes
- iCloud backup: multi-device sync, zero loss on device swap
- Live Activity and Lock Screen pill: recording state always visible
Who It's For
- Anyone who walks, commutes, walks a dog, or jogs every day
- Fans of citywalks and map-collecting travel
- Business and leisure travelers who want a private log of every city and region
- Hikers, cyclists, and off-road walkers
- Anyone tired of step-count anxiety, who just wants the route to remain
Privacy Promise
WingPrint does not collect your location data, does not upload your tracks, and does not use any advertising identifier. Cloud sync goes through your own iCloud, so you hold the only key. Delete the app and every record is gone with it.
May your walks be long, and every one of them remembered.

2.9 — Your walks, worth sharing.
WHAT'S NEW
• Single-walk share cards
Turn any walk into a beautiful vertical poster (1170×2100) with the map, distance, duration, pace, elevation and city name. One tap from the walk detail page. Share to Messages, Instagram Stories, or save to Photos.
• Weekly Recap
Get a Sunday evening summary of the week you just walked — total distance, active days, number of walks, longest walk, and how it compares to last week. Off by default; enable it under Settings › Notifications and pick the time that suits you.
REFINEMENTS
• Nighttime drift filter — fixes rare stray GPS points that could appear on your track between midnight and 6 AM while you were asleep and the phone was stationary.
• Removed the unreleased "Offline road data" entry from Settings.
• General stability and polish.
Thanks for keeping the streak going.

2.8 — Performance Overhaul. Battery, smoothness, stability.
The two things you asked about are rewritten from the bottom up:
• Heat & battery drain: GPS accuracy now auto-tiers by your motion state (walking no longer locks to max precision), track rendering drops from an 11-layer effect to a clean single layer, and disk fsync goes from every 4.5s to on-demand + a 30s durability heartbeat. Same walk, notably cooler phone and slower battery drain.
• Frozen map on resume: widget snapshot, fine-detail map loading, and historical track merging are all moved off the main actor. The map now responds the instant you return from the background — no more force-quit.
Plus:
• Memory no longer grows unbounded on long sessions
• Data still gets fsync'd every 30 seconds — hard-crash data loss stays tiny
• Nothing changes for existing users' visuals, tracks, or Explore
Want the multi-layer neon look back? Toggle "Neon Enhanced Mode" in Settings.
2.8 Aug 6
2.7 is when WingPrint finally starts feeling native everywhere.
For everyone new to WingPrint:
• Real city names — "San Francisco, CA" / "Tokyo" / "Berlin" — replace the old "United States · Zone 1" placeholders
• A redesigned Explore tab built around cities: Recently Walked, Most Walked, Countries Visited
• Distance, speed, and area follow your system units (miles / feet / mph / mi² in the US and UK)
• Rewritten onboarding centered on the daily-walks story
• Widget text, iCloud folder names, and Health authorization prompts are all fully localized
For everyone already here:
• Fix: walks in Hong Kong / Macau / Taiwan / Japan / Korea no longer render offshore
• Fix: timeline replay in China no longer drifts ~500m off the road
• Everything else — Explore, province coloring, streak days — works exactly as before
Same app, same data, wherever you walk.
2.7 Jul 19
• Fix: The Today tab no longer silently flips back to All
• Fix: Your first line now appears within seconds of tapping Record
• New: A "Waiting for GPS…" indicator until the first point commits
• New: An empty-state card when Today has no tracks yet
2.6 Jul 8
2.5 — Share & Stay:
• Trip share posters: end a trip, one tap to make a poster with daily distance chart — perfect for social.
• Milestone celebrations: instant pop-up when you hit 7/30/100-day streak, new province / city / country, or cumulative-distance milestones.
• Timeline replay: enter any track detail to play it back fullscreen, with adjustable speed.
• My Data: one-tap export a .wingbackup file so changing phones loses nothing — all local, no cloud required.
• Apple Health two-way sync: stats page shows steps from Health, each finished track is added as an Outdoor Walk workout.
2.5 Jun 29
2.4 "Trips":
• New: Trips automatically group multi-day cross-city tracks into a single trip; manual multi-select also supported.
• History search & filter: search bar + distance/date chips to find any past track in a tap.
• See your nightly polish work: cleaned segments now show , with a total count in Settings.
• Background continuity hardening: even if iOS reclaims the app on a long trip, it auto-recovers and keeps recording.
• Low-power mode now more aggressive; CPU stays asleep longer when you're stationary — more battery for the road.
2.4 Jun 14
2.3 — quality + companionship:
• New Daily Summary: a local notification with today's distance and your streak, fully offline, time customizable
• Refreshed story-style share poster: warm gradient with personalized taglines, more shareable than the old data-grid style
• Smarter drift filter: rejects low-accuracy points while you're sitting still (parks, red lights), preventing phantom zigzag lines
• Fixed Discovery tab scroll lock and "today" mode showing all-time tracks when zoomed in
2.3 Jun 7
2.2 brings "Track Quality Overhaul":
• Adaptive viewport rendering: zoom in close for original-density tracks, visually near-identical to edit mode — no more "switch to edit mode to see the real shape"
• New "Nightly Polish": while charging overnight, WingPrint quietly cleans your tracks (removes isolated drift, smooths jitter, trims redundant straights). Zero extra battery, fully offline, original data always preserved.
• Higher overall rendering density — older segments no longer fade out at distant zoom levels
• Fixed minor coordinate offsets for tracks in dense urban areas
• Various performance and stability improvements
2.2 May 31
Cleaner tracks and a calmer recording experience in this update:
• Fixed phantom straight-line connections that occasionally appeared between segments
• New "Strict Accuracy Filter" toggle — cleaner traces in city canyons and indoors
• New "Skip Flight Segments" — international flights no longer paint a red line across the ocean on your footprint map
• Lower power use during long stationary periods
Thanks to everyone who reported issues — you make WingPrint better.
