Auto-Start • Trips that start automatically now record your whole route, even when your iPhone stays in your pocket. • Auto-start also kicks in sooner after you start driving, so short trips aren't missed. Emergency SOS • Hold the SOS button and your emergency contacts get a text with a link to your live location. Friends in Odo get a notification instead. • You have 5 seconds to cancel before anyone is alerted. Your location is shared for 6 hours, or until you tap I'm Safe. • Hosts can turn on Convoy SOS. Every member then gets the button, and an SOS shows that member in red on everyone's map, including in CarPlay. • Set it up in Settings > Emergency SOS. Requires sign-in. SOS doesn't call emergency services. Search by Voice • Say where you want to go instead of typing. Tap the mic in Navigate search, or in CarPlay tap the mic on the map. While navigating in CarPlay you can also add a stop with Say a Place. • Say "Home" or the name of another saved place and it comes up first. EV and Hybrid Presets • Ready-made OBD II data for 99 electric and hybrid vehicles: battery state of charge, cell voltages, temperatures and more. Pick your make, model and year. • Your trips now show the battery's charge at the start and end of each drive. • Cell voltages appear in a single bar chart on the Live tab, with your lowest cell highlighted. Convoy Walkie-Talkie (Beta) • Talk to everyone in your convoy. The host turns on the Walkie-Talkie when starting a convoy, or at any time during it. • Tap the mic, talk, and your message sends when you stop. Or hold the mic to talk and let go to send. Slide away while holding to cancel. • Messages play for every member, even when Odo is in the background or the phone is locked. In CarPlay they play through your car's speakers, and the mic button is on the navigation map. • See who is talking and which members can't hear right now. Touch and hold a member to mute them, or use Mute All. • Please don't use your phone while driving. Let a passenger do the talking. Co-Driver Calls • Navigation can call out the bends ahead like a rally co-driver: "Easy left", "Medium right", "Hard left, into Easy right". Choose Early, Normal or Late timing. Turn it on in Settings > Driving > Navigation. Engine Grid for the Live Activity • A new Engine Grid (OBD II) layout shows six live readings from your car on the Lock Screen. CarPlay • When you arrive, see how your time compares with your usual drive. • Fixed a crash when adding a stop during navigation. Speedometer is now Odo • Same app, new name. Your trips, vehicles, logs and settings are all exactly where you left them. • It's still the speedometer you know. Odo now does much more besides: navigation, convoys, fuel and maintenance. Turn-by-turn navigation • Switch the Speedometer to Map and tap the Navigate button. Search for a place, choose one on the map, or pick from places your trips often end. • Routes come from Apple Maps, or from OpenStreetMap where Apple Maps has no directions. Roads you've driven before are marked "Your usual road", and From Your Drives offers your own routes too. • Voice guidance (Personal Voice works too), lane guidance, and the next turn on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. • Live Comparison shows how far ahead or behind your usual time you are as you drive. • Add stops for fuel, charging, food or coffee. Avoid tolls, highways or ferries. Touch and hold the map to avoid a spot, like a bad junction. • Works in CarPlay, and with Siri: "Navigate to Home with Odo". Convoy • Drive together with friends on one live map. Start a Convoy from Friends, invite friends, and set a meeting point. • Locations are shared only while the convoy runs, and all of them are deleted when it ends. Members can choose to share their speed. • Get notified when someone joins or when everyone has arrived. Convoys show in CarPlay too. • Starting a convoy is part of Premium. Joining one is free. New map looks • Muted and Dark Map styles, live traffic, a 3D view on the Map, and Horizon Fade. They apply to the Map, navigation and CarPlay. Find them in Settings > Driving > Navigation. Hide Start & End • Hide the route near where a trip starts and ends, plus the place names, when you share a card, a Trip Reel or a GPX file. Fairer fuel economy • Partial fill-ups and charges now count. Economy runs from one full tank to the next and includes every fill in between, so an EV you usually charge to 80% still gets a figure. • Each fill-up now shows a This Tank card (This Charge for EVs): economy, distance, and how much went in. • In the UK, you can enter fuel prices in pence per litre, the way the pump shows them. Find any station • The station picker now finds EV chargers and street addresses. You can also search workshops by address. Smarter auto-tags • New rule: Pass through saved place. It tags trips that go past or stop at a place without starting or ending there, like a school pickup. Choose how long the stop must be, or pick No stop. Find it in Garage > Tags > Auto-Tag Rules. Share cards • Choose a Text Size for trip share cards. Follow a past route (Beta) • Open a trip you have driven before and choose Show on Live Map from its "..." menu. The route appears on the map as a gray line. • The Speedometer switches to Map mode. Tap X on the route to go back to your gauge. • Drive it again and the route card keeps score: "0:42 ahead of last time", behind, or even. Take a shortcut and it picks you up further along the route. New app icon • A neon gauge over a glowing road is the new app icon. • Settings > Display & Recording > App Icon adds Midnight, all in blue, and Light, the gauge on a white card. The car icon is still there as Car and Car Light. Trip Photos • Add up to 20 photos to any trip from its "..." menu: Add Photo > Take Photo or Choose Photo. • A tap opens the viewer, where a photo can be shared or deleted. • A photo that carries a capture time is placed on the drive, so it reads "14:32 · 8.2 km into the trip". Route History • Trips that start and end in the same places, in the same direction, now count as one route. Trip detail gains a This Route card: how this drive compares with the last one, and where it ranks ("3rd fastest of 12"). • Open it for the whole history: a trend line, your usual range, and every trip on the route, sorted by date, duration, distance, average or max speed. • Filter to a time of day, or to weekdays alone, to compare like with like. • If you left now tells you when you would usually arrive. • Settings > Driving > Route Matching sets how close two drives must begin and end to count as one, Strict, Usual or Relaxed, with rules for individual routes. Favorites • Star a trip from its "..." menu, and the star marks it in the history and on the trip itself. • Favorites Only in the trip filter narrows the history to the ones you starred. Statistics has its own tab • Statistics used to appear only when Friends was switched off. It is a permanent tab now, and Friends moved behind your profile picture in the toolbar. A tab order you set yourself is kept. Scan the pump • While adding a fuel log, tap Scan Pump, or Scan Charger on an electric car, to read the amounts off the display with the camera. Check them, then use them. Also in this release • The Speed Over Time chart and the sprint trace are colored by speed with the same blue-to-red ramp as the route map, so a fast stretch looks the same in both. • Route Playback > Direction Indicator: the moving marker can be an arrow that turns with your heading, or a plain dot. • Two motorcycle app icons in Settings > Display & Recording > App Icon. • With two cars and two OBD2 adapters, the app reaches whichever adapter is in the car you are sitting in, and files the trip under the car it identifies. • Fault code reads no longer show codes your car does not have when the engine and the gearbox both answer. • OBDLink CX and MX WiFi are no longer listed as unsupported. Only the MX+ is locked to its own app. • Fixed: opening Speed Over Time could freeze the app. • Fixed: a video could end with nothing saved when the speed limit beep took the microphone. Automatic Export • Save a copy of every trip to a folder the moment it ends. Turn it on in Settings > Data & Sync > Data Management > Export Data. • Choose any mix of GPX (route with time, speed and elevation, for map and fitness apps), CSV (one row per recorded point, for spreadsheets) and PDF (a one-page report with a route map). • Files land in the Speedometer folder in the Files app, or in a folder you pick. Pick one in iCloud Drive and every trip reaches your other devices as well. • It works however the trip ends: the stop button, CarPlay, a Shortcuts automation or an automatic ending. A trip cut off by the app closing is saved the next time Speedometer opens. • Free for everyone. Picture in Picture • Open When You Leave brings up the speed window by itself when you switch to another app from the Speedometer tab, so there is nothing to remember before a drive. You can limit it to when a trip is recording. • With the speed limit alert on, the window shows the limit in a red ring. • The window no longer freezes on its last speed when a trip ends while you are in another app. Video Recording • When a recording stops early, the app now tells you why: another app took the camera, the phone got too warm, or another app is sharing the screen. CarPlay • Ending a trip with the iPhone locked no longer freezes the speed on the car display. Picture in Picture • A small speed readout that floats over your other apps, so you can watch your speed while you navigate. Open it from the ••• menu on the Speedometer tab, then switch to Maps or anything else. • While a trip is recording it also shows distance and elapsed time. Drag it to any corner, or push it off the edge to tuck it away. • It never pauses or ducks your music, podcasts or navigation voice. Trip Insights • A short summary of each drive, written on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere. • Drives on a route you have taken before get a "vs usual" chip: how this run compared with your own previous drives between the same two places, at the same time of day. • Settings > Trip Insights picks the voice it writes in, or describe your own. • Requires iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence. Estimated Fuel Cost • Trip details now show EST. COST, worked out from the fuel the drive used and the price you paid at your last fill-up before it. • Tap it to see which fill-up set the price. Pump prices move, so read it as a ballpark, not a receipt. Tab Bar • Settings > Display & Recording > Tab Bar drags the tabs along the bottom of the screen into the order you want. • Pick which tab the app opens on. Friends • Week and month charts drill down. Tap a bar to see its days. CarPlay • Custom PIDs now open on their own screen, so every one of them is listed. Trips, Redesigned • Every drive in your history is now a card with its route drawn on it. Share it or replay the route without opening the trip first. • Each day gets a header with that day's distance, time and top speed. • Long histories scroll smoothly again, however many trips you have. Charts You Can Read • Speed Over Time, Elevation Profile and G-Force each open a full screen: a headline number, the chart, the moments that stood out, and a short note on what you are looking at. • Touch and drag across any chart to read the value at any moment of the drive. Zoom into a busy stretch, or fit the whole trip. • Speed adds Sustained Best, the fastest half-minute average of the trip, which describes a drive better than a single GPS spike. • Elevation lists the high and low points and the climbing time. G-Force lists the hardest moments. OBD II • Live readings are now gauges with the healthy range marked. Tap any card to read what that value means and what is worth acting on. • Fuel Level (est.) for cars that never report tank level. Enter the tank size in Garage, log a full fill-up, and the level is worked out from your own fuel logs. It is always labelled as an estimate. • Peak Boost, Best Economy and Engine Run Time on the trip page, each with an explanation. • Trouble with an adapter? Settings > Help & Contact now sends the whole connection log, and the log survives a restart. Fuel and Money • Choose how many decimals money totals use. Price per unit always keeps three, since pumps price fuel in thousandths. • CSV import recognises the Spritmonitor cost export, keeps the mapping it detected instead of making you redo it, and no longer imports EV charges as gasoline. Gauge • Pause Auto-Start for 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours, or a time you pick, for a ride as a passenger. Resume from the same menu. • Ignore This Trip drops a recording you did not mean to keep. Friends • Friend profiles rebuilt, with highlights and a day-by-day or month-by-month breakdown. • Give a friend a nickname that only you see. Maps and Sharing • The All Routes map now draws as pooled speed bands, so a year of driving loads and pans smoothly. • Period share cards can use your own routes over a real map as the backdrop, framed how you like. • Replay Video and Max Speed Replay in the share menu are free for everyone. CarPlay • The Live Activity looks like the phone again. The dashboard-only layout added last release made it read differently from the Lock Screen, so it is gone. • Live tab tiles can be reordered, and the screen tells you how many of them fit. Also in this release • A new app icon. • Service reminders count their interval from the last service rather than from today, so enter the last service date and odometer when you create one. • Deleting a vehicle now tells you what happens to its data first: documents and reminders go with it, trips, fuel and expenses move to Unassigned. Split a Trip • Open a trip, tap Split Trip, then tap the route or drag the slider to place a split point. The preview shows exactly which trips you will end up with. • A trip recorded with gaps can be split at those breaks in one tap. • A trip you merged earlier can be split back apart at the joins. • Each new trip keeps its own distance, time and route. Up to 10 pieces at once. Merging Trips • Merge up to 10 trips at once, instead of two at a time. • The sheet now tells you why a selection cannot be merged, and warns you first when the trips started on different days or when some of them are excluded from your stats. Last Parked • A vehicle's profile now shows where its last recorded trip ended: the address, the time, and walking directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps. Tap the coordinates to copy them. • This is not live tracking and the card says so. The app only sees the car while a trip is recording. Vehicles • A 12 V charging check. Once there are enough OBD readings, the profile says whether the charging system reached a healthy peak with the engine running. • Export Vehicle Data, a new Shortcut that hands you a JSON file covering every vehicle, including everything recorded from an OBD II adapter. • Edits you had typed are no longer reset when you come back from the photo picker. Friends • Friends now has its own page in Settings, with your username, sign out and delete account in one place. • Turning Friends off gives the tab back to Statistics and takes your profile picture out of the toolbars. Nothing is deleted, and you can turn it back on any time. CarPlay • The Live Activity has a layout made for the dashboard: one large value, bigger type, and only the stats that fit. • Fixed a crash when opening a place from Saved Places, and a nearby search that finished late no longer pulls you off the screen you moved on to. Also in this release • Max G and hard braking could read absurdly high on a trip with a poor GPS fix. Both now come from the same calculation as the chart on the trip page. • The compass on the map sits at the top right, clear of the buttons that used to cover it. • Share cards can drop the app icon and name. Friends • A new Friends tab. Add people you actually know and see everyone's distance, driving time and trips side by side. • Your routes and places are never uploaded. Only daily totals leave this phone, and you both have to accept before either of you sees anything. • Sign in with Apple, pick a username, and add friends by their username or by sending them your link. • Boards cover today, this week, all time, or any custom month, year or stretch of days you pick. Speed is never ranked or compared on any board. • Open a friend for their totals, their longest and average trips, and a chart of their driving day by day, week by week or month by month. Give them a nickname if you want. • Pause sharing whenever you like, block or report someone, or leave and have your profile and everything you published deleted. • Two notifications only, both optional: when somebody adds you, and when somebody accepts. Daily Stats • Every route you drove that day now draws on one map, the way weeks and months already did. • Share a day as an image card, with the figures you want on it. Currency • The symbol can now sit before or after the amount, or follow your region. Settings > Units & Format > Currency > Symbol Position. Widgets and exported PDFs follow the same choice. Also in this release • Elapsed trip time on the gauge and in the Live Activity is labelled DURATION rather than TIME, which read as the clock. • A very long place name under your all time top speed now wraps instead of being cut off. • Switching tabs gives a small haptic tap. Route Replay • The readout now shows the time of day you were at that point on the route, not just how far into the replay you are. Switch from settings. • Tap the coordinates to copy them, or open that exact spot in Apple Maps or Google Maps. Live Activity • You can now choose how often the Live Activity refreshes: every 1, 2, 5, 10 or 30 seconds. Settings > Display & Recording > Live Activity > Update Frequency. • Fixed a Live Activity that could stay on the Lock Screen after a trip had already ended. Fuel Logs • A new fuel log now recognizes a saved station when you fill up near one, and suggests nearby stations you can add with a single tap. Garage • VIN is now editable by hand, for cars without an adapter or to correct a bad reading. If the connected adapter reports a different VIN, the profile says so and offers to use the adapter's. OBD • Ready-made battery PIDs for the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV: state of charge, state of health, pack voltage and current, power, cell voltages and pack temperatures, plus cabin and outside temperature. Add them under Custom PIDs > Add from Presets, with no formulas to type. Segments • Segment details now open in place instead of a sheet, and the share menu gains photo cards, stats cards, replay video and GPX export. Channel Replay • Scrub through your trip and watch every channel move in lockstep. A new cockpit dashboard pairs Speed and RPM arc dials with a signed G-force dial, throttle/load/boost pedal bars, and an elevation strip with a moving playhead. Haptic peaks fire on your top-speed second, full throttle, and 100% engine load. Detailed OBD Telemetry • Open any trip's OBD-II Summary card to drill into per-second wave charts for RPM, throttle, engine load, and absolute load. Lines now break cleanly at real OBD dropouts (15s+) instead of faking a smooth curve. Can be disabled in Data Management. Enhanced OBD Insights * Vehicle profiles now track lifetime fuel consumed, engine hours, and cold-start count directly from your car’s OBD data. * Turbo and supercharged vehicles now show maximum manifold pressure reached. * Recurring fault codes are now highlighted, making it easy to spot codes that returned after being cleared. * Adapter diagnostics now show response time and session count, helping identify degrading OBD adapters before they impact data quality. * VIN reads now automatically populate year, make, and model using the NHTSA database for most 1981+ vehicles. Existing vehicle details are never overwritten. * Improved VIN reading support for newer Hondas, including 2022+ HR-V, Civic, and CR-V models, as well as other vehicles with restrictive CAN gateways. * Trip start and end snapshots are now always saved, including on very short drives. * Vehicles that do not expose a VIN now correctly save OBD profile data after you manually select the matching vehicle. Faster Real-Time OBD • Live PIDs now refresh roughly 2x faster on most BLE adapters, reaching up to ~5 Hz on premium hardware. Powered by multi-PID batching, a tighter polling loop, and priority-pair alternation. No impact on non-CAN vehicles. Elevation Route Playback • On the Elevation Profile card, tap View Elevation on Map to replay your route colored by altitude instead of speed. Especially useful for elevation planning, where hills and elevation changes matter more than pace. Bulk GPX Import • Import multiple GPX files at once. Selecting two or more files opens a configuration sheet with the Clean Noisy GPS option, followed by a progress report showing imported, skipped, and failed files. Auto-Start Trips Hub • Settings -> Driving -> Auto-Start Trips now brings Shortcuts, Motion Detection, and Siri controls together in one place, making it easier to choose the right combination for your setup. (Shortcuts remains the most battery-efficient option.) Adapter Compatibility • Improved connection issues with Veepeak OBDCheck BLE and BLE+ adapters. Added new recovery logic for aftermarket racing ECUs (Link G4X, MoTeC, Haltech) and some HEV BMS configurations that only respond to live data over physical addressing.
