Now runs on Intel Macs as well as Apple silicon. If the app would not open on your Mac, this is the release that does. LIBRARY HEALTH One scan over your whole library, and a count of what is missing from it: photos with no real title, no tags, no location, nothing written about them, and photos sitting in no album. Open any of those counts and you get the photos themselves, so you can select a batch and fix it on the spot: add tags, set a location on a map, put them in an album or submit them to a group. A camera filename like IMG_4821 counts as missing a title, because it is not a title anyone chose. BACKUP AND FLICKR'S DOWNLOAD LIMIT Flickr limits how fast an application may download, and the app used to treat the first refusal as permanent: a backup could run through every photo in seconds and save none of them. It now waits as long as Flickr asks, retries the photo instead of discarding it, and paces itself to a rate Flickr accepts. When the limit is reached in full, the backup waits for it to lift and carries on by itself, with a countdown on screen and a Stop button that takes effect straight away. A large library is one run you can leave to it. There is a switch if you would rather the run ended at the limit instead. ALBUMS AND GROUPS Add to album is now in Bulk Edit, where it was the obvious missing button. Albums and groups also take several at once: pick every album a selection should go into, or every group to submit it to, and it works through them. MY PHOTOS More of a photo's details are editable without leaving the grid: tags, either added to what is there or replacing it and the dialog says which, the date the photo was taken, the date it was posted, and the location. Two new tabs show what everyone else can see: your public photos, or everything that is not public. WHAT IS FREE AND WHAT IS PRO Library health is part of Pro Unlock. It reads your whole library and groups it, which is the work the unlock pays for. Everything that was free stays free: the library, the feed, Activity, the map, search, basic statistics. The free tier's ten-photo limit now applies everywhere it was meant to. Several bulk actions - adding to albums, creating an album from a selection, deleting, and editing from My Photos and My Videos - had no limit at all. WHAT OTHER PEOPLE'S PHOTOS CAN REACH THE SCREEN My Feed now shows only what Flickr's Safe filter allows: it is built from a query that carries that filter, where the previous one could not be filtered at all. Search & Explore starts at Safe on every visit and offers Safe and Moderate; Flickr's Restricted level is no longer offered. Your own library and favourites are yours and are not filtered. The app also opens on the Dashboard rather than the feed unless you have chosen a start page. FIXED - The app could fail to open at all on some Macs, showing a window for a moment and then quitting with no explanation - Text from Flickr containing an ampersand appeared as "&" on profiles - A session that expired while the app was open showed an error on whichever screen you were using, instead of taking you back to sign in - In Bulk Edit, a panel taller than the window could not be scrolled, which hid the date fields on smaller screens - The link to Flickr's own data export points to the right page Most of this exists because people asked for it on r/flickr, in some cases with the exact screen and the exact photo that went wrong. This is a large update. If you are coming from 1.0.19, everything below is new. BACK UP YOUR LIBRARY TO YOUR OWN DISK Download your whole library, or one album, to a folder you choose on this Mac. Original files where Flickr offers them, laid out by year and month, by album, or all in one folder. Beside each photo, a JSON file holds the title, description, tags, dates, licence and coordinates that Flickr keeps in its database rather than in the image. A run can be stopped and picked up later, and a second run downloads only what is missing. The free version backs up twenty-five photos per run. SIGN IN WITHOUT LEAVING THE APP Flickr authorization now opens in a window inside the app instead of your browser, and the app reads the code Flickr shows and finishes on its own. NEW SCREENS - Insights: how views moved over any range in Flickr's 28-day window, which photos led that range, and where the views came from inside and outside Flickr. The same figures for any single album. - Places: browse your library by country, region and locality, and work through the photos with no location by geotagging them in bulk. Filter by when photos were taken or uploaded. - Shared Links: your own register of the Guest Pass links you handed out, what you shared and when. - Activity: comments, faves and notes on your photos, newest first, with anything since your last visit marked as new. - My Feed: the latest photos from the people you follow, as a grid, and the app can open on it. WORKING AT SCALE - Rename a tag across your entire library, merge one tag into another, or remove one from every photo. Flickr's own website offers none of this, and related tags are shown so a near-duplicate is caught early. - Carry an advanced filter from My Photos straight into Bulk Edit instead of describing the same photos twice. - Reorder an album by dragging, set any photo as its cover, and reorder the albums themselves. - Submit a selection to a group pool, with each group's daily and weekly limits worked out first. - Rename and re-describe albums, galleries and collections without opening flickr.com. - Upload defaults, so you can see what Flickr will apply to your next upload. FREE AND PRO UNLOCK The free app browses everything, reads your feed and activity, uses the map and statistics, and bulk edits ten photos at a time so the feature can be felt before it is bought. Pro Unlock is a single purchase, not a subscription, and adds Insights, Places, Shared Links, unlimited backups, album curation, library-wide tag work, and bulk actions with no per-batch limit. It restores on your other Macs. FIXES AND SMALLER THINGS - Video playback picks a rendition that plays, says why when one will not, and no longer goes dark on a stalled player. - Map markers cluster, and the map says when a large library has been truncated rather than quietly showing less. - Copying a shared link works, which the app's own sandbox had been blocking. - A screen that fails is recoverable, and the app recovers by itself after an update replaces it underneath. - Every screen is fully translated into all eight languages, with correct plurals. - Choose which screen the app opens on, and it will never open on the paywall. - The privacy screen now names every service the app contacts. - The version is shown in the app.
