Departd: Calendar Alarm Clock
Sets itself, checks traffic
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Your calendar sets the alarm. It works back from the 6 AM flight — traffic, weather, getting ready — and wakes you through silent mode. Pro re-checks it overnight.
Never be late again — to anything.
Departd wakes you up at the exact right minute, then keeps you on time all day. It reads your calendar, measures the drive, and checks real-time traffic and weather to tell you when to wake, when to get ready, and when to leave — for your first event and every one after it. While you sleep, it checks again: if traffic has worsened, your alarm moves earlier, automatically. No math. No guessing.
YOUR WHOLE DAY, ON TIME
• Wakes you up — a reliable alarm built on iOS 26's AlarmKit that breaks through silent mode.
• Leave on time, all day — a "leave by" for every event, not just the first.
• Traffic-adjusted — live ETAs, re-checked overnight before your alarm (all night long with Pro).
• Weather-aware — rain, snow, and severe conditions add buffer automatically. Free for everyone.
• Flight-smart — TSA and terminal buffers for travel days.
• A full-day timeline — every event, with the drive and prep built in.
• Explains itself — see exactly why your wake and leave times were chosen, in the app or by asking Siri "Why this time?"
• Live Activity + Dynamic Island — your next departure, one glance away.
WHY DEPARTD
Most alarms ring at the same time every day, and most planners have no idea how long it takes to get anywhere. Departd does both: it wakes you AND gets you out the door on time — for the meeting across town, the school run, the 5 PM appointment, the airport. You set nothing each night. Your calendar is your plan.
FOR ANYONE WHO
• Wonders "is 15 minutes enough for traffic?"
• Is always running a few minutes late to everything.
• Travels for work and wants gate-aware airport runs.
• Has ever been late to something that mattered.
PRIVACY FIRST

more This update is one change you will see and several you will not.
• Changed: the Lock Screen card is easier to read at a glance. The day view now reads as two groups — what is happening now, and what is next — instead of one run-on line. The end time is also labelled as one, so "until 2:56 AM" no longer sits unexplained next to the start time.
Everything below shipped in the previous update and is repeated here because the App Store only shows the most recent release notes.
• Fixed: the alarm could wake you twice. When Departd recalculates your wake time it sometimes finds a later one — traffic eased overnight, so you can sleep a few more minutes. If that recalculation was already under way at the moment the alarm went off, it finished its work and set the second alarm anyway. Departd now checks, at the last possible moment before setting an alarm, whether this morning has already woken you.
• Fixed: the same gap existed on the overnight traffic check, which sets your alarm by a different route. Both now ask the same question before setting anything.
• Changed: once your alarm is within two minutes of going off, Departd will no longer push it later. If it works out at the last second that you could sleep a few more minutes, it lets the alarm ring instead. It will still move your alarm EARLIER in that window — if traffic has worsened and you need to get up sooner, that still happens.
• Fixed: skipping one morning could quietly mark the whole of the next day as skipped. Your wake-up alarm was never affected, but Home and the widget would say "Skipped for tonight" while tomorrow's alarm was in fact going to ring, and a reminder for a later event that day could go missing.
• Fixed: when an overnight adjustment was refused — because you had skipped that morning, or the new time was not safely ahead — Departd carried on as though it had worked. It would set a backup notification for the new time, update your Lock Screen, and tell you the alarm had moved. None of that was true.
• Fixed: when Departd replaces an alarm it now always has the new one in place before removing the old one. One path was still doing this the other way round, leaving a moment with nothing set at all.
• Fixed: a reminder due during two meetings was listed twice on Home, once for each meeting. It is one reminder and you can only move it once, so it is now one line.
• Fixed: the overnight check could, in rare circumstances, stop the app rather than simply fail.
1.5.16 Sep 17
This update exists because of one morning. On 15 September the alarm rang correctly, and then rang again four minutes later. Reading what the phone had recorded explained why, and most of this release follows from it.
Underneath: the rule that decides whether an alarm should be set is now consulted everywhere an alarm can be set, instead of in one place out of four. That single mismatch is what let the second alarm through.
1.5.15 Sep 16
This update is alarm reliability again, and this time most of it came from reading what the app actually recorded on a real morning rather than from a test.
• Fixed: skipping a morning could be undone a moment later. If Departd was already part-way through setting your alarm when you tapped Skip, that half-finished work carried on and set one anyway — the screen said Skipped and the alarm still rang. It now stops that work and removes anything it had already set.
• Fixed: during an overnight traffic or weather adjustment there was a brief moment with no alarm set at all. Departd cancelled the old one first and only then set the replacement, and iOS is free to suspend an app in between. It now sets the new alarm first and removes the old one afterwards.
• Fixed: Departd could wrongly decide your alarm had already rung, and stay quiet. It was comparing against a wake time that gets rewritten every time it recalculates — including the times it decided to change nothing. It now remembers the exact moment each alarm was set for.
• Fixed: hail, sleet and icy mix were being treated as ordinary weather and added no extra time at all, while snow adds fifteen minutes. Departd now allows for them properly. This had been wrong since the app first read a forecast.
• Fixed: the wake-up alarm is described in one place now instead of three. The three descriptions had already drifted — one of them used the wrong colour on the ringing screen, and an online meeting adjusted overnight got the wrong wording.
• "How we calculated this" now tells you when there is no safety margin, and why. Before, that line simply disappeared, which reads like nothing is wrong. If you set the time by hand, it says so.
• Extras — Flight preferences, Route Templates, the Commute Dashboard and Share My ETA — now live behind one door in Settings. Nothing is removed and nothing changes; the settings that decide whether you wake up on time are no longer sharing the list with them.
• Departd now keeps a record of whether iOS was even asked to run the overnight check. When a morning adjustment does not happen, that record is the difference between knowing iOS declined and guessing.
1.5.14 Sep 14
This update is all alarm reliability. Several of these could cost you a wake-up, and one of them we found by making an alarm ring on demand rather than waiting for a morning.
• Fixed: two alarms could be set for one wake-up. When Departd worked out your wake time twice in quick succession, each attempt could leave its own alarm behind. Both rang together, and stopping one left the other going. Only one alarm is ever set now.
• Fixed: skipping a morning didn't always stick. Departd's own safety check saw an alarm with nothing protecting it, decided something had gone wrong, and set one for the morning you had just skipped. Skipping now outranks that check.
• Fixed: if your next event changed while Departd was looking up an address — a new event added in the evening, say — it could end up never working out a wake time for it, and the alarm still set for the earlier event. Both halves of that are fixed, and the new event no longer inherits the old one's drive time.
• Fixed: if Departd couldn't read your calendar at the moment the alarm was due, it said "Your event was cancelled. No need to rush." and stood everything down, including its own backup. Only a confirmed deletion does that now. If it can't tell, it wakes you.
• Fixed: Departd didn't know an alarm had rung if it was asleep when it happened — which is the normal case for a morning alarm. That record is what stops an alarm ringing twice, so this was behind more than one of the repeat-ringing problems.
• Fixed: tapping "Looks good" on the evening briefing was recorded as though you had chosen how each event should be treated, and then kept for a week. If you accepted a tentative invitation the next day, Departd could keep treating it as a heads-up and set no alarm for it.
• Fixed: when an event has no address, the prompt to add one was skipped for tomorrow's occurrence of a repeating event — the one evening you could still fix it before the alarm was set.
• Hotel Mode now describes what it actually does. It remembers where you are staying and navigates you back there; your wake-up times are still worked out from your home address. Making it set alarms from your temporary base is next.
• Fixed: the lock-screen card kept counting down inside an event that had already ended, on one path the previous fix missed. The travel card now also refreshes when you are actually due to arrive.
1.5.13 Sep 13
This update fixes an alarm that could ring twice, shows your snooze countdown on the Lock Screen, and stops the "How we calculated this" page from opening by itself.
• Fixed: an alarm left to stop on its own could ring again five minutes later. Version 1.5.11 started your alarm five minutes early to give you breathing room; once that early ring stopped, Departd mistook the time it had been aiming for as a new alarm and set it again. A ring now counts once, and a different event later the same morning still gets its own alarm.
• Fixed: snoozing never showed a countdown on your Lock Screen. The snooze itself worked, but iOS doesn't let an app create a new Lock Screen card while it's in the background, and that is what Departd was trying to do. It now turns the card that's already there into the snooze countdown.
• Snooze is now 10 minutes everywhere. It was 10 minutes from the Lock Screen and 9 inside the app.
• Fixed: if you said no the first time Departd asked to send notifications, it could set no alarm at all. Your alarm no longer depends on that answer.
• Fixed: telling Departd a repeating event was at home, with no travel needed, applied to every future repeat. It now applies only to the day you said it. "Skip prep — leave now" works the same way: it skips getting-ready time for that morning only.
• Fixed: if you set your wake-up time by hand, Departd could still take five minutes off it. A time you choose now rings exactly when you chose. The wake-up wheel in the evening briefing also starts from your current alarm rather than an older time, and moving it by a single minute now counts.
• "How we calculated this" used to open by itself the first time each event reached the main screen, which for most people meant every event, often right after the alarm. It now introduces itself once. Tap the "Why" link under your wake-up time, or press and hold the time, whenever you want to see the math.
• Fixed: when Departd uses notifications because it isn't allowed to set alarms, swiping its card off your Lock Screen could stop a new one from appearing.
Carried over from 1.5.11, in case you are updating from earlier:
• Fixed: finishing a repeating event once could leave you with no alarm for every one after it.
• Fixed: if Departd couldn't read your calendar overnight, it could treat your event as deleted and cancel your alarm.
• Your wake-up time now aims five minutes before the last minute that works, instead of the last minute exactly.
• Fixed: two screens showed raw formatting code, and the Lock Screen card could claim a finished event was still running.
1.5.12 Sep 12
This update is all fixes: several ways Departd could quietly leave you without an alarm, and three screens showing something wrong.
• Fixed: finishing a repeating event once could leave you with no alarm for every one after it. Every repeat of an event shares one identity in your calendar, so marking today's workout done was read as marking tomorrow's done too — and Thursday's, and Friday's. It also hid tomorrow's "time to leave" nudge and the warning that you can't get there in time, with nothing on screen to say so. Finishing an event now counts only for the day you finished it.
• Fixed: two screens printed raw formatting code where a word count belonged — the weekly briefing card and the countdown on the main screen. Both now read as "5 events" and "3 days".
• Fixed: the card on your lock screen could insist a finished event was still running, reading "Ends in 17 min, 58 sec" eighteen minutes after the event had ended. It now says how long ago the event ended once the end time has passed. It still can't be relied on to move to your next event by itself, but it no longer claims there is time left when there isn't.
• Fixed: if Departd couldn't read your calendar overnight — because calendar access had been turned off — it took that as proof your event had been deleted, cancelled your alarm, threw away its own record of it so nothing could put it back, and told you your event was deleted when it wasn't. Departd now leaves your alarm alone when it can't tell, and it recognises your event by name and time if your work calendar gives it a new identity overnight.
• Fixed: when an event is deleted overnight, Departd looks for the next event worth waking you for — but it only checked the one immediately after, and skipped it if it had no street address, so a 07:00 video call could leave you with no alarm at all. It now keeps looking down your day, and an event with no address just means there is no drive to allow for.
• Your wake-up time used to be the very last minute that could work — your event's start time, minus getting ready, minus the drive, exactly. Start a fraction slow and you were already behind. Departd now aims for five minutes before that. Where there isn't room for those minutes it leaves them out rather than setting an alarm for a time that has gone by, and an alarm you set by hand still rings when you chose.
• Fixed: Departd could say you were running behind even when you woke up exactly on time. It measured your remaining time against your whole getting-ready estimate and never subtracted what you had already done, so the gap grew every minute whatever you did. It now works out whether you can still get there, and still warns you when you can't.
• Fixed: if your flight was cancelled overnight and Departd moved your alarm to your normal wake time, the traffic re-check it runs while you sleep could undo that and wake you in the small hours for a flight that wasn't leaving.
• Fixed: if your wake-up time worked out to just after midnight, Departd set no alarm at all.
• Fixed: that overnight traffic re-check timed a drive even when you walk, bike or take transit, so your wake-up time came from the wrong journey.
• Fixed: an alarm set in the last minutes before midnight could go unrecognised by Skip, so skipping it did nothing and it rang anyway; Home could also show no wake-up time while it was set.
• Fixed: "How we calculated this" now adds up to the wake time shown beneath it, and "Why this time?" no longer blames your wake time on a deadline you never gave it.
Carried over from 1.5.10, in case you are updating from earlier:
• Fixed: an event with a real address could be treated as though it were at home, so no travel time was allowed for it and you left late.
• Fixed: an alarm could ring over and over after a wake time had already passed.
• Fixed: skipping a wake-up shortly after 4am silently cancelled the following morning's alarm too.
1.5.11 Sep 10
A quiet release, with two fixes found by using Departd on a real morning.
• Fixed: Departd could treat somewhere you actually have to drive to as though it were at home, and work out your wake-up time as if you needed no travel at all. It was reusing the previous day's answer instead of looking at today's event. Each event is now worked out on its own.
• Fixed: waking up exactly on time could immediately show a "Running Behind Schedule" screen. Departd sets your alarm for the last sensible minute, then checked a few seconds later and counted those seconds against you. It now gives you a moment to get up before it says anything — and still speaks up straight away if you genuinely cannot make it.
Departd also keeps a closer watch on the moment your alarm is set overnight. Nothing changes about how or when you are woken. This is groundwork: if anything ever does go wrong at that moment, Departd can now show us exactly what happened instead of leaving us to guess.
Also fixed: the prompt that asks whether you would rate Departd had been broken since May and never appeared. It now shows up only after Departd has actually woken you a few times — and never while an alarm is ringing.
Carried over from 1.5.9, which was available for barely a day:
• Fixed: an alarm could ring over and over. If you opened Departd after a wake time had already passed, it could create a fresh alarm seconds away and ring it, repeatedly. It now recognises an alarm that has already gone off.
• Fixed: skipping a wake-up shortly after 4am silently suppressed the FOLLOWING morning's alarm — one you had never asked to skip. Skipping is now tied to the alarm you are actually cancelling, and only ever cancels that one wake-up.
• Fixed: an alarm you skipped can no longer be quietly put back by the overnight traffic and weather checks.
• Fixed: the Lock Screen card could say an event was starting now, hours after it had already begun.
• Fixed: the alarm screen could appear in the afternoon for an event that never needed a wake-up.
• New: Today shows the free window between your events, so a two-hour gap reads as usable time.
• Fixed: your wake-up time is worked out from the home address you saved, not a guess at where your phone is in the middle of the night.
1.5.10 Sep 8
Fixed: two ways a morning could go wrong — one where the alarm rang over and over, and one where it never rang at all.
If you skipped a wake-up shortly after 4am, Departd recorded the skip against the FOLLOWING morning instead of the one you were cancelling. That silently suppressed the next night's alarm — an alarm you had never asked to skip. Skipping is now tied to the alarm you are actually cancelling, and it only ever cancels that one wake-up, never the rest of your day.
Separately, if you opened Departd after a wake-up time had already passed, the app could create a fresh alarm a few seconds out and ring it — repeatedly, on a morning it had already decided needed no alarm. It now recognises an alarm that has already gone off and will not manufacture another. A genuinely missed wake-up still rings, because being woken late is better than not at all.
• Fixed: an alarm you skipped can no longer be quietly put back by the overnight traffic and weather checks.
• Fixed: the Lock Screen card could say an event was starting now, hours after it had already begun.
• Fixed: the alarm screen could appear in the afternoon for an event that never needed a wake-up, greeting you with "Good morning" though nothing had rung. The greeting matches the time of day now.
• Fixed: "Overnight change" now only explains changes that actually happened overnight, in plain language instead of internal diagnostics.
• Fixed: your day no longer lists tomorrow's first event twice.
• Changed: tapping a departure alert takes you to your Today tab instead of a separate full-screen day view that had no way in.
• New: Today shows the free window between your events, so a 2-hour gap reads as usable time. Long stretches are left alone.
• Fixed: your wake-up time is worked out from the home address you saved, not a guess at where your phone is in the middle of the night.
• Fixed: Departd will never suggest a wake-up time that lands after your event has already started.
• Fixed: the Today screen makes clear which day each item belongs to, and a one-event day no longer reads "1 events".
• Changed: the spoken briefing and its full-screen morning card are gone. Departd no longer talks.
• Fixed: switching on "Use Checklist for Prep Time" without Pro used to do nothing. It now says it's a Pro feature instead of pretending to work.
• Clearer: the Pro screen lists everything Pro includes — it was showing three of seven.
1.5.9 Sep 4
Fixed: the Lock Screen card could say an event was starting now, hours after it had already begun.
If an event started while your phone was idle, the card kept reading "Now" indefinitely — one event showed "starting now" for nearly two hours. It now stops claiming that once the event is genuinely under way.
• Fixed: the free-time windows on Today could disappear for the rest of the day if you skipped your morning alarm. They now come straight from your schedule, so they are always there.
• Fixed: the alarm screen could appear in the afternoon, for an event that never needed a wake-up — greeting you with "Good morning" even though no alarm had been set and none rang. The greeting also matches the time of day now.
• Fixed: skipping a morning stops the alarm. If you skipped a wake-up, the alarm could keep firing anyway while the app said "Skipped for tonight", and neither dismissing nor snoozing helped.
• Fixed: "Overnight change" now only explains changes that actually happened overnight, and says why in plain language instead of showing internal diagnostics.
• Fixed: your day no longer lists tomorrow's first event twice.
• Changed: tapping a departure alert takes you to your Today tab instead of opening a separate full-screen day view that had no way in and no way to find it.
• New: Today shows the free window between your events, so a 2-hour gap reads as time you can use rather than empty space. Long stretches are left alone, and a window with nothing useful to suggest just shows how long it is.
• Fixed: your wake-up time is worked out from the home address you saved, not from a guess at where your phone is in the middle of the night.
• Fixed: switching on "Use Checklist for Prep Time" without Pro used to do nothing at all. It now tells you it's a Pro feature instead of pretending to work.
• Clearer: the Pro screen lists everything Pro includes — it was showing three of seven — and features that need Pro say so at the moment they would have helped.
1.5.8 Sep 3
Fixed: skipping a morning now actually stops the alarm.
If you skipped a wake-up, the alarm could keep firing anyway — the app said "Skipped for tonight" while it carried on ringing, and neither dismissing it nor snoozing it made any difference. Skip now cancels the alarm itself, the moment you tap it.
• Changed: tapping a departure alert now takes you to your Today tab instead of opening a separate full-screen day view. That view had no way in and no way to find it — it simply appeared. Everything worth keeping from it now lives on Today.
• New: Today shows the free window between your events, and what to do with it — so a 2-hour gap reads as time you can use, not empty space.
• Fixed: your wake-up time is worked out from the home address you saved, not from a guess at where your phone is in the middle of the night. A stale overnight location made short drives look long and long drives look short — the single biggest cause of a wrong wake-up time.
• Fixed: Departd will never again suggest a wake-up time that lands after your event has already started.
• Fixed: the Today screen now makes clear which day each item belongs to, so tomorrow's first event can't be mistaken for something happening this morning.
• Fixed: a one-event day no longer reads "1 events" in your weekly summary.
• Changed: the full-screen morning card and the spoken briefing are gone. Departd no longer talks. The briefing says what it needs to say, once, where you're already looking.
• Fixed: switching on "Use Checklist for Prep Time" without Pro used to do nothing at all — no message, no explanation, and your alarm quietly ignored the checklist. It now tells you it's a Pro feature instead of pretending to work.
• Clearer: the Pro screen lists everything Pro actually includes — it was showing three of seven. And the features that need Pro now say so at the moment they would have helped, instead of simply never appearing.

1.5.6 Aug 31
Fixed: travel time for nearby events. If your first event was a few minutes away, Departd could fall back to a generic 15-minute estimate and wake you earlier than needed. It now uses your saved home address to measure the drive, so short trips are measured properly — including overnight, when it re-checks traffic.
Fixed: the briefing could suggest a wake-up time after your first event had already started. It now never recommends waking later than your first commitment allows.
Fixed: the schedule now tells you which day it's showing, and flags any event that isn't on that day.
Fixed: the alarm screen could break the time across two lines.
Simpler mornings. The full-screen summary after your alarm is gone — the essentials arrive as a notification and on your lock screen instead, so you're not clearing a wall of information before you can use your phone. Everything it showed is still in the app: prep checklist and today's plan on Home, your full schedule on Today.
1.5.5 Aug 30
Fixed: the morning briefing card could become impossible to close. If you started moving while it was on screen, both the X and "I'm Ready" stopped working — and because it covers the whole screen, the app was stuck behind it. It now closes every time.
Fixed: "Feels Like" and humidity are now real readings. Feels Like was showing the plain temperature, and humidity was always 50% regardless of conditions.
Fixed: when the same event is saved with two different addresses, Departd now asks which one you mean instead of silently guessing. It was picking whichever you'd used most recently, which could send you to the wrong place — or assume no travel at all.
New: if an event looks like a trip — a drop-off, a pick-up, an appointment — but is set to somewhere that needs no travel, Departd now says so instead of quietly setting your alarm as though you could stay put.
Fixed: your nightly briefing no longer says a day is clear when it couldn't measure one of the drives. An unknown journey is now assumed to take time, so a tight morning gets flagged rather than missed.
1.5.4 Aug 28
Several parts of Departd turned out to be built but never switched on. They're on now.
• Fixed: Departure Intelligence actually learns. It was recording nothing at all, so the screen stayed empty forever and every estimate fell back to a generic default. It now learns how long your real transitions between events actually take.
• Fixed: the forecast high and low are now the real forecast. Departd was estimating them from the current temperature — so "it'll be cold, dress warm" was based on a number the app made up.
• Fixed: weather now survives losing signal. Departd was never keeping a copy, so an offline briefing showed 0°/0°. It now holds on to the last real forecast.
• Fixed: the offline notice no longer tells you your data is current when nothing was ever saved.
• New: an optional offer to text someone your arrival time when you leave. Off unless you turn it on in Settings.
1.5.3 Aug 26
Reliability release — all of these affect whether you're woken at the right time, and what happens when you are.
• Fixed: Snooze. On a ringing alarm it could do nothing at all, and after the first successful snooze it stopped working entirely. Both fixed — you can now snooze as many times as you like.
• Fixed: skipping an alarm now sticks. Previously a refresh could quietly bring the skipped alarm back.
• Fixed: overnight traffic checks now measure the road at the time you'll actually drive, not the empty road at 2am. A quiet nighttime reading could previously push your alarm later than it should have been.
• Fixed: an event's address could resolve to a similarly-named place somewhere else. Departd now checks your Saved Places first and refuses a map result that doesn't match what you typed — so both the travel time and the Navigate button go where you meant.
• Fixed: when a route couldn't be measured, Departd could treat it as a one-minute drive. It now says it doesn't know and keeps a safe buffer.
• Fixed: when weather couldn't be reached, Departd reported clear skies. It now says "unknown" instead of guessing.
• New: a short summary a few minutes after your alarm — when to leave, for what, and how long the drive is — so you get the plan even if you don't open the app.
• Weather buffers are now free for everyone. Rain and snow add time to your alarm on every account.

1.5.1 Aug 24
An alarm you can rely on.
This release is about trust. We went looking for every way Departd could let you down — and fixed what we found.
WAKING YOU UP
• Your alarm holds. Set a wake time by hand and it stays set. Departd will still move it earlier if traffic or weather turns against you overnight, but it will never quietly put it back.
• The evening reminder keeps coming. It used to be scheduled one night at a time — miss one and it never returned.
• Turning down notifications no longer leaves you with no alarm at all.
• Deleting an event now clears the alarm it created, instead of leaving one behind.
• The morning the clocks change no longer wakes you an hour early.
KNOWING WHERE YOU'RE GOING
• Events pinned in Apple Maps are recognised. An address dropped from Maps could be treated as no address at all — so no drive, no leave-by, no traffic.
• The Enter Address box works. What you type now saves, the Return key submits it, and you get a straight answer when there are no matches.
• The overnight traffic check now measures the drive to tonight's event, every time.
• Heading somewhere far away? Departd asks you to confirm the address instead of quietly giving up on it.
YOUR LOCK SCREEN
• Live Activities are free for everyone — the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island countdown is no longer part of Departd Pro.
• The overnight card clears the moment you stop your alarm, instead of sitting there for hours showing a time that has already passed.
• Snooze is on the ringing alarm. Ten more minutes, one tap — and Departd will not snooze you past the point where you would still make it on time.
• Cards for events you have moved or already arrived at are cleared instead of lingering, and countdowns stop at 0:00 instead of running past it.
• Calmer arrivals — no stray buzz, and no flip back to a driving card once you are there.
THE EVENING
• Tapping the 7 PM reminder shows you tomorrow. It could land on "all done for today" with nothing set.
• The briefing card can be dismissed, and stays dismissed — returning on its own only if your wake time actually changes.
• Routine tips can be dismissed too, and come back only when the advice itself changes.
A SIMPLER APP
• Three tabs instead of four. The Journey tab is gone — your live trip now appears on Home while you travel, so there is one place to look instead of two. Nothing was removed: the live ETA, the progress bar, and the "I'm Here" confirmation are all on Home now.
• Home says each number once. Your drive time used to appear three times on the same screen. Now it appears once, and the row that matters tells you when to leave.
• The prep checklist starts tidy. It used to open every step by default and fill the screen; now it is a single line showing your progress, one tap from the full list.
• Times are written out. Your drive and prep now read "40 minutes" and "1 hour 30 minutes" instead of "0:40" and "1:30".
OPENING THE APP
• Departd no longer greets you with a pop-up every time you open it. The "how we calculated this" explanation now appears once when there is a new event to explain, and otherwise stays one tap away under your wake time.
As always: your calendar sets the alarm. You set nothing.
Requires iOS 26 or later.
1.5.0 Aug 9
A fresh look for Departd.
WHAT'S NEW
• A refreshed design — a cleaner, unified look across every screen: a new violet palette, clearer type, and more consistent cards and controls.
• Easier on the eyes — higher-contrast text and status colors, with better support for Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, and Reduce Transparency.
• A brand-new app icon.
• Plus polish and reliability fixes throughout.
Same Departd underneath: your calendar sets the alarm. You set nothing.
Requires iOS 26 or later.
1.4.0 Jul 22
Once you're on your way, Departd stays on your way.
WHAT'S NEW
• No more phantom "leave now" prompts — once you've started your trip (Navigate, "Leaving now," Siri, or an automatic departure), Departd keeps you in transit. A normal app refresh can't bounce you back or ask you to leave again.
• Tapped "Leaving" by mistake? A "Not yet? Undo" banner (and "I haven't left yet" on the Journey tab) puts you right back. That's the only way back, so nothing resets by accident.
As always: your calendar sets the alarm. You set nothing.
Requires iOS 26 or later.
1.3.1 Jul 18
Your evenings just got useful.
WHAT'S NEW
• Evening briefing, delivered — Departd now sends one evening notification when tomorrow's briefing is ready: your wake-up time, weather, and schedule risks, the night before. Pick the time — or turn it off — in Settings.
• The briefing shows your real alarm — the wake time you see at night is the alarm that fires in the morning, along with when to leave and why.
• Adjust from the briefing — move tomorrow's wake-up right from the briefing. Your choice sticks, even if traffic shifts overnight.
• AI prep tips (Pro) — short on-device suggestions for tomorrow's first event, right in the briefing. Private by design: nothing leaves your iPhone.
• Tap "Tomorrow's Plan" on the home screen to open the full briefing — and it no longer disappears at midnight.
• Weather advisories now show in the briefing, plus a Refresh button and reliability fixes throughout.
As always: your calendar sets the alarm. You set nothing.
Requires iOS 26 or later.
1.3.0 Jul 16
Departd now stays with you the whole day — and makes your next departure impossible to miss.
WHAT'S NEW
• Live departure countdown — Your leave-by time now ticks down live on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island, and in StandBy. One glance, no math.
• StandBy support — Set your iPhone on its side to charge and Departd shows your next departure, big and clear, through the night.
• Automatic journey start — When you head out the door, Departd notices and starts tracking your trip on its own. Left a little early? One tap to undo.
• Honest timing — Departd now tells you how sure it is of each time, so you know when a plan is rock-solid and when it's still settling.
• Smarter transit — For trips by train or bus, your leave-by time reflects the morning schedule, and one tap opens the real next departures in Apple Maps.
• Ask Siri or search Spotlight — Just ask for your next departure to see exactly when you need to leave.
• Reliability and polish throughout, including smoother Live Activity transitions.
As always: your calendar sets the alarm. You set nothing.
Requires iOS 26 or later.
1.2.0 Jul 10
This update is all about reliability.
Your alarm now always plays the sound you chose, including after Departd moves your wake time overnight for traffic or weather. Setup is smoother too: you can get past any permission screen without getting stuck, and Departd still works if you grant access later. We also cleaned up the alarm sound list and fixed a range of smaller issues across scheduling, settings, and offline use so your wake and departure times stay accurate.

1.1.5 Jul 5
This update is about reliability and polish — making every tap do exactly what you expect.
• Your alarm now plays the exact sound you picked, every time. We also trimmed the sound list to a cleaner, better-sounding set.
• Simpler lock screen: the countdown card's button now opens the app and leaves your alarm exactly as set.
• "Time to leave" reminders are now actionable — tap for driving directions, or push it back five minutes.
• Tell Siri "I'm leaving now" and Departd actually starts tracking your trip.
• Long-press the big time to see exactly how Departd calculated it.
• Plus a long list of smaller fixes and leaner, faster internals.
Departd works the way it always has: it reads your calendar, checks traffic and weather overnight, and wakes you at the right minute — so you never set an alarm again.
1.1.4 Jul 1
What's new in 1.1.3:
• A simpler Pro head start: 7 days of Pro free when you install, with no trial to track and no surprise charge.
• Clearer bottom tabs: Home, Today, Journey, Settings.
• Your alarm sound is now easy to find and change in Settings.
• Reliability polish for the Lock Screen Live Activity.
1.1.3 Jun 23
This update makes Departd more reliable and more responsive:
• Fixed a bug where the Lock Screen could keep showing an event that had already ended.
• Tap the travel estimate to preview your route, tap an event to open it in Calendar, and start your trip with a one-tap "I'm leaving now."
• A clearer wake/get-ready label, and a first-run summary of your very first alarm.
1.1.2 Jun 22
This update is one change you will see and several you will not.
