Leveling Up is Horrible

When one plays a game such as this, one expects to level up their character and increase its skills and attributes. However, when the character levels up, the player is punished by giving random plus and minus’s to the attributes. This is a dumb concept. Instead, the player should be given a couple to a few points to choose which attributes increase. This subtraction to some attributes every time my character levels up killed the game for me.

Thank you for the honest feedback. The leveling up mechanic was inherited from the game that provided the inspiration, and I agree, it does make leveling problematic. I have updated the Leveling up to a more standard approach of giving the user the choice of what attributes they want, with no minus’s. That update should be coming soon.

Leveling up is now your choice. Each level grants 2 attribute points to spend however you like — no more random rolls, and no more losing points you earned. Bank them and decide later from your Character Sheet if you'd rather wait. • Dexterity now grants a real dodge chance (2% per bonus point) • Wisdom now strengthens all your magic: damage spells, heals, potions, Shield and Stoneskin. Intelligence decides which spells you can learn • Heavy armor now slows you down as intended, reducing Dexterity's benefit to armor class, dodging, initiative, fleeing and traps • Dragon Scale armor halves the Red Dragon's fire breath • Ice Storm now chills its target, costing it turns • The Enchanted Shield now improves magic resistance • Turning in a quest now levels you up properly • The Character Sheet shows your dodge chance and spell bonus, and the Armor Shop previews how gear changes your stats before you buy
