Notifications are here. Get one when a friend adds you or seats you at their game, and tap it to jump straight in.
New:
- Custom rules (Premium): set what each hand is worth, pick your limit hands, and change them mid-game from the next hand.
- New house rule hands: Imperial Jade and All Red.
- Add friends and answer requests in a quick popup. Newest friends show first.
- Watching a friend's game opens a cleaner live board.
Fixes:
- Friends see your home game as soon as it starts.
- A bad signal no longer ends a live game.
- Deleted rule sets stay deleted on all your devices.

Your players are now saved to your account. Sign in on a new phone and they're all back, with their history.
New:
- Friend requests arrive instantly, and home games show the host.
- Your card shows games won and your hand win rate.
- Picking names shows recent players first, with Friend and You tags.
- Tap anywhere on a past game to open it. Hand tiles are grouped like the tile picker.
- The Wiki card for a scored hand shows which rule sets count it.
Fixes:
- Games are no longer lost when your phone is full or offline.
- Renaming a player keeps their history.
- Signing up with an email that's already in use now tells you.

v1.12
Now in Traditional Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia — change the language from the settings button, top right.
Taiwanese scoring: 17 tiles, tai, and the dealer streak. Switch variants any time; the wiki and scanner follow.
Custom rules: set what each hand is worth at your table, and which hands count.
Also: fixed signing in from the profile and paywall screens, a clearer game history, and a better share image.

v1.11.1
Your games save themselves now.
A game shows up in your history from the first hand you record, marked in progress until you finish it. A night that ends early, or that nobody remembers to close out, is never lost.
Finish is on the Track screen.
Right next to Undo, where the hands are. It used to live two taps deep in the settings panel, which is why so many games never got saved.
Sharing looks like something worth sending.
A proper card: who won and by how much, the final table, and the biggest hand of the night with its tiles and the faan that earned it. Built for a group chat or a story.
A new end-of-game screen.
The winner is the headline instead of a row in a table, with everyone else ranked underneath.
Picking players got quicker.
Recent, Friends and Saved, with search — so setting up tonight's game with last week's people takes one tap.
Fixes
A finished game could show as still in progress until you reopened the app. Ending a game after undoing a hand could silently skip the save. The board could get stuck with every button greyed out.

v1.11
Scanning got a lot better.
The scanning model has been updated and retrained! Try it out.
Your table, your rules.
Set what each hand pays at your table, and switch off the ones you don't play. Works for both Hong Kong and Taiwanese scoring.
Taiwanese scoring fixes.
A hand you've switched off is properly off now. It used to still count, for zero. The add-on tai list shows your table's values instead of ours, and turning one off no longer changes who pays.
A quicker start.
New setup the first time you open the app. Pick your style, put your name in, and you're tracking.
Also:
- Remove a friend (and they lose access to your games).
- Friend codes load instantly.
- A tidier Custom Rules screen that opens on your whole rule sheet instead of five closed drawers.
1.11 Sep 10
Bug fixes:
• Home games now save to every player's history, not just
the host's. If games you played with friends were missing,
they'll appear after this update.
• Fixed the daily scan counter, which was cutting free scans
short.
• High-scoring hands above your table's top row now pay the
correct amount instead of being capped.
• Faster, quieter syncing.
1.10.2 Sep 5
Want to scan a hand without starting a game?
There's a new Scan tab. Point the camera at a hand and TileBuddy reads the tiles and scores them. No players, no seats, nothing to set up. Works in both Hong Kong and Taiwanese.
Also in this update:
• New bottom navigation: Track, Scan, Wiki, You
• Switch between Hong Kong and Taiwanese from any screen
• You can now switch rulesets while a game is running. The game you're tracking keeps the style it started with
• The Taiwanese wiki has a search, and the Taiwanese score screen has a wiki button (Hong Kong has had one for a while)
• The daily scan counter now shows how many you have left
• Android: the game setup screens no longer sit under the system buttons

v1.9.2
Minor bug fix on game history deletion
1.9.2 Sep 1

- Fixed adding player keyboard
- Fixed a problem where yearly subscriptions weren't unlocking Premium.
1.9.1 Aug 20
Version 1.9
Themes are here!
Seven tile and color themes, each with its own artwork. One is free. The rest come with Premium, or as a one-time pack if you'd rather not subscribe.
Scanning is faster. Most hands now read right on your phone in about a second. Trickier ones still go to the cloud, so accuracy holds up.
Premium changed. It's unlimited scans now, and it includes every theme. There's a yearly plan too, if you'd rather not pay monthly.
Also in this update:
- A tip jar, if you want to support the app
- A rebuilt profile, with Games and People as separate views
- Taiwanese scoring fixes
1.9 Aug 19
Taiwanese mahjong is here!!!
TileBuddy now plays 16-tile Taiwanese alongside Hong Kong. Full base and tai settlement, the dealer streak, special hands, and a Taiwanese wiki listing every tai the app scores.
To use Taiwan scoring, change the ruleset on the "start new game" page.
Also in this update:
• Better tile recognition, especially bamboo
• Fixed Big Winds and Small Winds scoring too high in Hong Kong
• Kong hands now score correctly in both rulesets
• The dealer streak is now part of the tai you see, not hidden in a footnote
• Wiki fixes: the dealer roll is three dice, and there is a new dead wall entry
Special thanks to Grace and Calvin for their feedback on this version.
