Good Ground - Garden Planner
Identify Plants, Grow in Faith
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Your zone, your week, your plan. Good Ground shows exactly what to plant right now based on your frost dates and USDA zone. Start your spring garden with confidence.
Plan your garden by zone, identify over 17,900 plant species from a photo, and check every plant for pet toxicity, child safety, and allergens. All on your device. No internet required. No photos uploaded. No ads. No tracking. No separate account to create. Just answers when you need them.
Good Ground is the only gardening app that weaves scripture into your planting season. Not as an afterthought, but as part of how the whole experience was built. It is a gardening companion for families who want to grow food and faith together.
Good Ground was built by a family that gardens. We made the app we wished existed. We hope it helps your family grow something good.
PLAN YOUR GARDEN WITH CONFIDENCE
A 5-step planner builds personalized plans based on your USDA zone, bed size, sun exposure, and companion planting. The auto-planner fills your beds intelligently, respecting which plants grow well together and which do not.
Browse 700+ plants with growing guides, spacing, days to maturity, and planting windows tailored to your zone.
SAFE FOR YOUR WHOLE FAMILY
Every plant is checked against a pet toxicity database for dogs and cats, child safety ratings across four age groups (infant through school-age), and a full allergen database including the FDA Top 9. No other gardening app gives you this level of family safety data.
IDENTIFY PLANTS AND PESTS PRIVATELY
Snap a photo and identify from over 17,900 plant species and 53 common pests and diseases. Identification runs a neural network entirely on your device. Your photos never leave your phone. No cloud processing. No account needed. Not even an internet connection.
GROW YOUR FAITH IN THE GARDEN
Daily scripture reflections connect the rhythms of gardening to the truths of scripture, available in both KJV and WEB translations. Scripture connections pair verses with the plants you are actually growing. A Biblical Garden preset lets you plant what scripture mentions: hyssop, mint, dill, cumin, and more.
Faith is woven throughout the experience, not confined to a single tab.
SEASONAL GUIDES, WEATHER AND ACTIVITIES
Weather forecasts with frost alerts and garden-specific tips help you protect what you have planted. A seasonal planting guide shows what belongs in the ground right now based on your zone and the current week. Care reminders keep your watering, feeding, and harvesting on track.
144 seasonal family activities offer cooking projects, nature crafts, and garden tasks for every time of year, each with step-by-step instructions, materials lists, and watercolor artwork. Perfect for homeschool families and nature study.
BEAUTIFUL BY DESIGN
700+ botanical watercolor illustrations give the app the feel of a hand-painted field journal. Warm earth tones and a calm interface that feels like opening a gardening book.
