DockPops
Custom Folders in your Dock
Only for Mac
Free · In‑App Purchases
Your Dock launches apps. It doesn't organize them — or let you make them yours.
DockPops adds beautiful, customizable folders to your Dock. Click a DockPops icon and a grid of your apps, files, folders, and links pops up right where you'd expect it. Then make each one yours — a theme, a gradient, a photo, a live PopFX background — and watch its Dock icon match.
ORGANIZE YOUR DOCK
– Group up to 25 apps, files, or folders in a Pop
– Create up to 100 Pops and swipe between them
– Give any Pop its own icon in your Dock
– Group related Pops behind one of those icons and swipe through just that set
– Open any Pop at your pointer with its own keyboard shortcut
– Drag in apps, files, and folders from anywhere on your Mac; browse folders right inside a Pop
– Show a Pop as a grid, a list, or tiles, and launch everything at once with Open All
MAKE IT YOURS
– 23 built-in themes, including 11 PopFX themes with live backgrounds — or save your own and reuse it across Pops
– Style each background: color, gradient, your own photo, or PopFX — with a Glass Effect slider
– PopFX backgrounds move and respond to your pointer: arcs, curtains, waves, marble, snow, embers, falling code, and more
– Add a single-color or gradient border
– Set the label font, weight, size, and color, plus the hover highlight and icon background
– Each Pop's Dock icon matches its theme automatically — or give it its own look
JUST ASK
– Tell the Assistant what you want — "make it feel like a walk in the forest," "add Safari," "switch to list view" — and it changes your Pop while you watch, with Undo for every change but a deletion (macOS 27)
– Apple Intelligence suggests apps that belong in your Pops (macOS 26)
– Pair with the free DockPops Companion to pin each Pop as its own Dock tile
Free with 2 Pops and 6 items each. Unlock everything with DockPops Premium — one purchase, no subscription.
Native Mac app. No tracking, no ads. Fully sandboxed. Requires macOS 14 or later. Apple Intelligence features require macOS 26; the Assistant requires macOS 27 and DockPops Premium.

DockPops 6.0 brings your Pops to life — and lets you restyle them just by asking.
Change a Pop by just asking
Tell the new Assistant what you want — "make it feel like a walk in the forest," "add Safari," "switch to list view" — and it changes the selected Pop while you watch. Every change is listed, and Undo takes it back. (Premium, macOS 27)
PopFX live backgrounds
A new kind of background that moves and responds to your pointer: arcs, curtains, waves, marble, snow, embers, falling code, and more. There are now 23 built-in themes, 11 of them PopFX.
A brand new theme manager
DockPops comes with 23 built-in themes and a new theme manager that makes it easy to save your custom themes and use them across your Pops.
A redesigned UI
DockPops 6.0 makes the customization controls friendlier and easier to use. The new App drawer makes it easier to find apps for your Pop, and the redesigned inspector allows you to control every aspect of how your Pop looks.
A keyboard shortcut for each Pop
Give any Pop a Control-Option shortcut and open it at your pointer from any app. (Premium)
Add Files…
Add files and folders to a Pop straight from the setup window — or press Shift-Command-F. (Premium)
Show with this icon
On the Dock tab, choose which Pops you can swipe to from a Pop's own Dock icon.
More accessible
Clearer VoiceOver labels and announcements, more of the setup window within reach of the keyboard, and Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency respected throughout.
Plus, Pop limit has been increased from 20 to 100, an updated Help book, and fixes and polish throughout.
6.0 3d ago
This update adds macOS27 support on top of the following improvements:
• New: Redesigned app drawer makes it easier to find apps for your Pops
• New: List View and Tile view added along side the traditional icon grid view
• New: Theme manager interface makes making and managing themes easier.
• New: Pop Border options
• Updated: Materials and Liquid Glass rendering to make Pops more beautiful
• Redesigned sidebar to make customizing your pops more fun and intuitive
5.5 Sep 21
• New: Lock popover size while swiping — the popover stays at your largest Pop's size, so nothing jumps around as you move between Pops. Find it in Settings → Popover.
• Themes now save your label font size and Dock Icon styling — and applying a theme no longer resets your custom Dock Icon colors.
• The Glass Effect slider now appears for every Pop, including ones still on the default background.
• Using DockPops Companion? You'll be asked once to download the latest version so updates keep flowing smoothly.
5.1 Aug 18
DockPops 5.0 makes your Pops beautiful — and lets you fly between them.
Pop Groups
Group related Pops behind a single Dock icon and swipe through just those — one icon per project, mood, or context, instead of a Dock full of them.
Quick switcher
Jump straight to any Pop from a new inline menu — no more swiping to find the one you want.
Deep theming options
Restyle a Pop top to bottom — and save the whole look as your own theme. Start from a dozen built-in themes (Sunset, Ocean, Matrix, and more), then make it yours: backgrounds in color, gradient, or your own photo with a Glass Effect slider; single-color or gradient borders; your own app-label font, size, weight, and color; and Dock icons that match the theme or get their own look.
Smarter suggestions
On-device Apple Intelligence now grounds its picks in each Pop's category, so the apps it suggests actually fit (macOS 26).

4.0 May 18
3.2 fixes a bug on custom background tinting on light mode, adds tweaks and improvements to Dynamic Icon and the Shortcuts method for multipops.
Plus all new in 3.0:
YOUR POPS, YOUR WAY
Every Pop gets a color picker for the popover background, and a Dock icon picker with three modes: Dynamic composite, a colored variant, or your own PNG. Import a logo for your "Work" Pop, a solid teal for "Play," a photo for "Home." Each Pop carries its own identity.
APPLE INTELLIGENCE, ON DEVICE
SmartyPops now reads the apps you've organized and suggests more that fit the same theme. All on-device — no cloud, no tracking. Requires macOS 26.
DOCKPOPS COMPANION
A free separate app that pins each Pop as its own Dock tile. Great for keeping a favorite Pop always visible alongside the main one.
REORGANIZED POPTIONS
The inspector panel is now two clean sections — Popover and Dock Icon. The Advanced disclosure is gone. Every setting sits where it belongs.
ALSO NEW
– Hide any Pop from the main carousel. Still reachable from its Shortcut or the Dock right-click menu.
– Live Dock icon preview as you pick colors or switch modes.
– Dynamic Icon gets a density picker (2×2, 3×3, 4×4, or Auto).
– Reduce Transparency fallback — solid Pop color when the system setting is on.
POLISH EVERYWHERE
– Popover opens faster
– Dock icon updates in lockstep with your color drag
– Companion Poplets stay in sync with the main app in real time
– Dozens of rare crashes and edge cases, gone

Change Icon Size inside Pops.
--A new icon size slider (Premium) lets you scale every Pop icon up for bigger hit targets or down for a tighter grid. Cmd + and Cmd − zoom live while the popover is open. Or just toggle labels off for a minimalist, icon-only look (Free).
Rearrange and Delete Icons from pops
-- Long-press any icon and drag it to reorder. Drag it off to remove with the classic macOS poof. No editor
Removed Shortcut Dynamic Icon Support (Beta)
-- Shortcust with Dynamic Icons stopped working after a restart, removing the dynamic feature while we find a better implementation.
The classic: Bug fixes and performance improvements.
2.5 Apr 18
1 – DYNAMIC ICONS. The Dock icon now looks like an iOS folder and automatically updates as you swipe between pops or if you add/remove items from the pop.
2 – MULTIPOPS (beta). Pops can now have their own app icon using Shortcuts. Instructions included, some (easy) assembly required.
Other small updates:
– Bug fixes and performance improvements
– Tweaked default icon
– Added arrows and clickable dots to switch between Pops in the main carousel
2.1 Apr 14
Yuge update. DockPops 2.0 introduces the two most requested features:
1 – DYNAMIC ICONS. The Dock icon now looks like an iOS folder and automatically updates as you swipe between pops or if you add/remove items from the pop.
2 – MULTIPOPS (beta). Pops can now have their own app icon using Shortcuts. Instructions included, some (easy) assembly required.

2.0 Apr 9
Click and Drag support
If you don't have a Magic Trackpad or Magic Mouse, you can now click and drag horizontally to swipe between Pops and Pop Settings.
Rename Your Apps
Hover any app name in the editor and click to rename it. Your custom names show everywhere — the popover, the organizer, even when
sorted alphabetically. Clear the name to snap back to the original.
Shortcuts & User Apps
DockPops now discovers Shortcuts droplets, Steam games, and other apps in ~/Applications. Grant access once in the App Browser and
they appear alongside your regular apps — with their proper names and custom icons.
Smarter App Browser
The filter bar has been redesigned. Sort and Filter are now clean dropdown menus, and Categories lives in its own popover so you can
check multiple at once without it closing on you. Also, it's called "App Browser" now because that's what it is.
Fixed a Premium Upgrade issue when App Store couldn't be reached
If the App Store can't be reached when you try to unlock Premium, you'll see a clear error with a "Try Again" button instead of a
mysteriously dead Unlock button.
Under the Hood
Persistence has been migrated from UserDefaults to SwiftData. Your existing Pops, items, colors, and sort orders migrate
automatically on first launch. You won't notice a thing — that's the point.
