I guess I should not have been surprised but it was when I found there is very little control over what the app creates other than size of some of the elements. But if it decides to place the step badges over critical text, you have zero control. Nor can you annotate to add clarifying information critical in many scenarios. I think its over priced for what little it does at this point.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, and I'm sorry it didn't fit your workflow.A bit of the reasoning: on export, the annotations are rendered directly into the finished PDF, GIF or MP4 instead of staying as editable overlays. That was deliberate. The editable route, where you'd tweak them afterward in Apple's Preview, gets misaligned and messy fast, and the whole point of StepGrab is that you record once and walk away with a clean, finished guide, not another file to edit.On badges covering text: they're always placed in the area diagonally opposite the click, so they land in empty space rather than over what you just interacted with. A badge on critical text should be rare, and if you've hit a case where it happens, please send it over, that genuinely helps me fix it.The core of the app does do what it promises, record once and hand you a finished guide, so if that's what you needed from it, I'd be grateful if you'd consider revisiting the rating. Free just got a lot less limited. • Record as many guides as you want. The recording quota is gone for good. • 15 steps per guide, whether or not you sign in — because signing in is gone too. • Every free export now carries the StepGrab mark. No account, no sign-up, nothing to delete. Pro still adds PDF, HTML, Markdown, MP4 and the mobile export, plus your own logo and file names.
