Card details The back of a card can now show the word's German definition, small under the English meaning, and an example sentence with its translation below it. Switch either on or off in the settings under "Kartendetails". The app in English If you would rather start with an English interface, switch it in the settings under "Sprache der App". Buttons, menus and hints are then in English; the words, definitions and examples stay German. Idioms A word's page now lists the idioms it is part of: for "Hand", "auf der Hand liegen" and "etwas in die Hand nehmen", each with its meaning. More example sentences with a translation 38,223 more example sentences carry an English line underneath, among them the examples of every word in the ready-made decks. Also new since the last version on the App Store - Paste a word list from your course, and the app turns it into a deck. - The vocabulary check shows you in a minute which deck to start with. - "Wörter durchgehen" sorts out the words you have known for a long time. - Sentence building: put example sentences from your decks back together. - Verbs show their preposition ("warten auf + Akkusativ"), a rules page explains articles, cases and adjective endings, and every word shows its word family. - The daily reminder says how many cards are waiting. - Tidier settings, and a field for feedback and wishes. Your decks, your progress and your streak survive the update.

Six ways to learn New: "Deutsch tippen", where you type the German word for an English meaning and a small slip does not count as wrong. "Hören", where you only hear the word and choose its meaning. And "Lückentext", where you find the word missing from an example sentence. The app can read every word aloud, and example sentences can be played. Goethe-Zertifikat word lists New ready-made decks with the words of the Goethe-Zertifikat A1, A2 and B1 word lists, plus the 4000 most frequent words. Find them under "Stapel entdecken" in the "Beliebte Wortlisten" section. New cards come in random order instead of alphabetically. Grammar Next to the article drill there is now a plural drill and a verb drill, both with the words from your own decks. Statistics A forecast of the coming days, a practice calendar, your vocabulary by stage and your hardest words, which you can practise in a round that leaves your schedule alone. Calmer learning You decide how many new words a day come in. Due and new cards are counted apart, the last answer can be taken back, and a session ends with the words you missed. When everything is done for today, the home screen says when the next card is due, and your streak holds even if that was fewer cards than your daily goal. Search finds words typed without umlauts. Large text At the largest system text sizes, cards, answers and the home screen fit on the screen, with no words broken in the middle. Backup A backup takes your decks and progress to a new phone, also between iPhone and Android. More accurate cards Every card of the ready-made decks was checked by hand. The meaning you need first leads ("das Mal" is "time", "günstig" is "cheap", "Wein" is "wine"), with the right article ("die Steuer", "das Gehalt", "das Schild") and no plural nobody uses. Nearly all 164,000 words in the dictionary now have an English meaning. Entries are tidier too: meanings without footnotes glued on, and synonyms show their article and English meaning. Your decks stay The first start after the update unpacks the dictionary once more. Your decks, progress and streak stay as they are.

Short English meanings The back of a card now shows the English word instead of a long explanation: "Haus" means "house", "gehen" means "go, walk". The dictionary shows the English first for every sense, too. Choose or type the meaning Two new training modes: pick the English meaning out of four, or type it. Wrong options come from your own deck. Switch in the settings. Swiping, simplified Right means known, left means not known. The strength scale from the last version is gone. If you would rather tap, two buttons under the card do the same, each showing when the card comes back. Didn't know it? Once more A card you did not know comes back at the end of the same session, while it is still fresh. The summary then shows when each card returns. A new look New typeface, new colours, new icon. The article sits right before the word and the plural ending after it, the way a dictionary writes it: "das Brot, -e", "die Suche, -n". Article trainer with your words The trainer now asks about the nouns in your decks. Pick a deck at the top and go. More decks Fourteen new topic decks, from numbers and time to feelings, nature and everyday bureaucracy, plus decks by part of speech: the most common verbs, adjectives and nouns of each gender. A settings tab Training mode, daily goal, cards per session, appearance and import/export have their own tab. Smaller and faster The dictionary takes about 45 percent less space on the device, so the first start is much quicker. Words such as "Zeit", "Frau" and "Ei", which search used to confuse with identically spelled function words, are entries of their own now.

Jetzt ist sie durchgehend deutsch. Anki-Import repariert Importierte Karten werden mit Vorder- und Rückseite gespeichert. Bisher verschwanden sie stillschweigend aus dem Training, wenn die Vorderseite kein Wörterbucheintrag war, was bei Anki-Karten fast immer der Fall ist. Pakete aus neueren Anki-Versionen werden jetzt erkannt und klar gemeldet. Weitere Verbesserungen - Neues App-Symbol - Ein Wort, das in zwei Stapeln liegt, wird nicht mehr doppelt abgefragt - Anstößige Wörter erscheinen nicht mehr von selbst im Artikeltraining oder als Wort des Tages; im Wörterbuch bleiben sie nachschlagbar - Intervalle werden ausgeschrieben statt abgekürzt - Wörter ohne Plural oder ohne bestimmte Beugungsform zeigen dort keinen leeren Strich mehr, sondern lassen die Zeile weg
