What changed Food Label Scanning (AI Analysis) - The scanner now extracts expiration dates from labels. If no date is visible on the packaging, AI estimates typical shelf life based on food type (dry 12-18 months, wet 24-36 months, etc.). The expiration field is never left empty after analysis. - AI now reads the feeding guidelines table from the package (recommended daily amounts by weight) and the package weight (e.g., 400g can). - When calories are not listed on the label, AI estimates them based on the feeding guidelines and food type instead of leaving the field blank. Feeding Plan Calculation - Manufacturer recommendations are now used as a portion cap — the app won't suggest more than what the package recommends (e.g., for wet food: 1 can/day means 1 can/day, no more). - Recommendation scaling uses metabolic weight (weight^0.75) instead of linear proportion — more accurate for small and large breeds. - Wet food portions are rounded to the nearest half-can (0.5, 1, 1.5 cans) rather than being truncated down. - Protection against bad AI data: calorie density is clamped to the 30-600 kcal/100g range. New "How We Calculate" Screen - An (i) "How we calculate" button on feeding plan screens — explains the RER formula, multipliers (age, activity, neutering status), manufacturer guideline caps, treat limits, and a disclaimer to consult a veterinarian. Tests - 6 new tests covering portion capping, metabolic scaling, can rounding, and calorie sanitization.
