SEE WHERE YOUR TIME LANDED After a clean solve, the rating box now shows a small bar: green is fast enough to move you up, gray holds, and red is slower than par. A dot marks your time, so you can see at a glance why your rating moved, or why it held. HOW RATING WORKS Tap the rating box for a quick explainer with your time, par, and the time that would have moved you up. You can also reach it from Standings. Star ratings are retired for dailies. PLAYERS SAY Open a daily from Browse and see what solvers made of it once enough people have weighed in, like "Most found it just right." SPOT A MISTAKE? A FASTER START Getting started is quicker: a short welcome, an optional tutorial puzzle, then you're straight into today's puzzles. Make an account whenever you're ready. A BETTER FIRST SOLVE Finish your first daily and Klew points you to the next one, with today's next size up and about how long it takes. A new See you tomorrow card explains when fresh puzzles arrive and offers a reminder at the time you usually solve, starting tomorrow. APPLE PENCIL, READY WHEN YOU ARE On iPad, puzzles now open in the layout you used last. Pick up Apple Pencil and touch the grid, and Klew switches to handwriting for you, with Undo if you'd rather type. If you told Klew you use a pencil when you set it up, puzzles now open ready to write. SMARTER REMINDERS New reminders start the next day at your chosen time, so you won't get a nudge for a puzzle you just finished. DELETE THAT WORKS LIKE YOU EXPECT Delete now clears the square you're on and stays put, so your fix lands right where the mistake was. On an empty square it steps back and clears the letter before, the way most crossword apps do. UNDER THE HOOD Today's puzzles now show up reliably right after midnight, the finish-screen celebration plays as it should again, and progress syncs more carefully between devices and when you move quickly from one puzzle to the next. SOLVE FIRST, SIGN IN WHENEVER You could already solve without an account. Now, signing in saves today's puzzles you finished while signed out to your account, and they count toward your streak. Look for "Save this solve" on the first-solve screen, the finish screen, and the Home card when it applies. On a shared iPhone or iPad, each account keeps its own progress too. SMOOTHER SOLVING The timer no longer redraws the whole puzzle every second, and your puzzle list loads faster. HOW'S IT GOING? An occasional check-in asks how solving is going, with an optional rating and a note. Answer it or move on, either way. UNDER THE HOOD Signed out, the global leaderboard and standings now show the public top boards instead of staying empty. Plus fixes and reliability improvements throughout.

FOR EVERY SOLVER Klew now supports larger text sizes, VoiceOver, and Reduce Motion, with higher-contrast text throughout. FAIR PLAY Clean solves now mean clean. Check and Reveal count as assists even if you relaunch or clear the grid, and clearing the grid keeps your timer running. Easy mode and autocheck still count as clean. UNDER THE HOOD Achievements no longer re-celebrate every time you open the app, the solve timer is more reliable, plus fixes for puzzles that could appear twice and sign-in and sync reliability improvements.

STREAK PROTECTION Never lose your streak by accident. Klew can now nudge you in the evening when the day's puzzle is still waiting and your streak is on the line. On by default with the daily reminder; turn it off anytime in Settings. OFFLINE, DONE RIGHT Today's puzzles now show up on Home even with no connection, ready to solve. Anything you solve offline syncs the moment you're back. STRAIGHT TO THE PUZZLE Tapping the daily reminder now takes you right into today's puzzle. UNDER THE HOOD Reliability improvements for downloaded puzzles and cross-device syncing.

Fixes and refinements for the 2.0 launch: APPLE PENCIL, FIXED PROPERLY Scratch out a letter and it disappears, ink and all, just like on paper. Deleting always leaves a clean cell, and writing a new letter over an old one replaces it completely. Thanks to the solver who reported this one. SMALL TOUCHES The post-solve rating now makes clear it is about how much you enjoyed the puzzle. Plus small fixes throughout.

Klew 2.0 is the biggest update yet: make crosswords, not just solve them — and turn every solve into a race. THE MINI BUILDER Lay out a 5x5 grid, fill in your words, write your clues, and publish. Share a link with anyone, and friends who follow you will find your minis in a new row on Home, with a push the moment yours goes live. CHALLENGE A FRIEND Finish a puzzle and see how you stack up against everyone who solved it today. Then challenge a friend: send them your time, and they can take you on right from the link, no app required. You'll hear the moment they answer, and the next morning's puzzle becomes your rematch. A BETTER FINISH Your time, points, and rating arrive in a quick sequence, with a line showing exactly how your points were earned. Big moments get their due: a new rank or your 100th solve brings a full-screen celebration worthy of it. SOLVING, REFINED Autocheck flags wrong letters as you type, so one mistake cannot snowball. Guess Mode sketches in letters you are not sure about. New solving preferences put you in charge of the details, plus pinch to zoom on the big weekend grids and swipe the clue bar to move between clues. And important stability fixes, including one for a rare crash that could repeat on launch.

Make Klew yours. Every solver now has an avatar. Start with a unique design generated just for you, then head to Edit Profile to pick a style and a color that fit. Your avatar shows up across Klew: on leaderboards and the Standings, on profiles, in Today's Race, and beside your reviews, so the boards feel a little more personal. The global Standings now show the full ladder, not just the top. The puzzle preview fills with green as you solve, matching the home screen at a glance. Plus a lighter, faster build under the hood.

Klew is now on your home screen. A new widget keeps your streak and today's mini a glance away, fills in as you solve, and taps straight into the day's puzzle. Add it to your home screen or lock screen to keep your streak going. Plus tap any name on a leaderboard or the standings to view that solver's profile and follow them. And a fix so your solves always register correctly across devices.

Klew is better with friends. Follow other solvers, see how everyone's doing in Today's Race, and show off the achievements you've earned on your profile. You're always in control: block or report anyone, and manage your blocked accounts any time. And Klew now works offline. Today's puzzles download automatically, so you can keep solving anywhere the signal drops. The home screen and Browse archive show the puzzles saved to your device instead of going blank, and anything you solve offline syncs the moment you're back online. Plus new-follower notifications and a fix so daily puzzle dates always read correctly.

No more passwords. Signing in now takes a 6-digit code sent to your email, and that's it, you're in. You'll also start earning achievements as you solve, each with a moment to celebrate. The finish screen is calmer and built around your result: your time, points, rating, and achievements at a glance, with rate and review right there. Sharing a solve looks better too, and you can do it from the finish screen or from any puzzle you've already finished, friends who tap your link land right on the puzzle. Turn on a daily reminder so you never miss the day's puzzle. Plus leaderboard and stats refinements, and a smoother solve all around.

Leaderboards are here. Every puzzle now has a leaderboard of solve times, and a new global Standings screen ranks solvers by skill rating, reachable from your Profile. Post the fastest time and you'll earn a crown; beat your own record and you'll see a new personal best. You choose whether to appear on public leaderboards, with a single tap. The finish screen is redesigned around your result, and your weekly recap now shows your current rating. Plus a fix so your streak always reflects your real solving days.

Klew now keeps score. Every solve earns points and raises your skill rating, climbing the ranks from Novice to Cruciverbalist as you take on bigger, tougher grids. The home screen is redesigned around your progress: each daily fills with color as you solve and turns green when you finish, so your whole day reads at a glance. Check your week in the new recap, then share a clean solve to challenge a friend to beat your time.

The Profile tab gets a full redesign with your streak, achievements progress, and recent solves front and center, plus a tap-through to your full stats. New solvers now pick easy mode or regular mode during onboarding, and easy mode is one tap away from any puzzle when you want a hand. The All Sizes achievement now properly includes 9×9 midi solves.
