A generative analogue synth for iPad. Patterns, arps, and chords that play themselves, shaped by filters with real character, while you steer by ear.
SpiceCore is a generative synthesizer for iPad.
A polyphonic analogue-style engine — dual morphing oscillators, a dual filter with four modes and parallel routing, OSC-FM and ring modulation — with the warmth, drift, and character of the real thing.
What makes SpiceCore different is its generative engine, with three ways to play: a 32-step sequencer with Euclidean rhythms, Markov evolution, and bounded mutation; a Motion Arp; and Harmonic Mode. Four macros — Mutation, Density, Chaos, Memory — put generative behaviour at your fingertips, with their own values per generator.
MIXER & EFFECTS
Every part gets its own channel: a level knob for the sequencer, arp, Harmonic, and your keys, with a delay send and a reverb send beneath each — feeding a tempo-synced delay and a plate-style reverb. DLY Age turns the echo towards worn tape; RVB Grain gives the plate its metal and shimmer. At zero, both are exactly clean.
THE CONDUCTOR
Switch it on and the performance breathes — macros lean, parts swell and recede, the space opens and closes over minutes. It wanders from the pattern seed, so the same performance returns every time.
SOUND PALETTE
Load up to four sounds and one pattern plays them all. The instrument spreads the notes across the palette along a tempo-synced morph — stepped to a pure sound per note, blended between sounds, or stacked — while the ribbon shows you what is playing.
HARMONIC MODE
Turn the keyboard into a chord surface. One key picks a chord and SpiceCore voices it for you, with three layouts, six chord colours, four voicing styles, and a motion engine for strum, pulse, arp, and evolving figures. It plays over the sequencer or arp — and the chord you hold leads them, so the pattern follows your hands.
SOUND LAYERS AND SOURCE MIX
Each generator can carry its own sound and its own level. Give the sequencer, arp, or Harmonic part a voice of its own while the pattern stays shared, then balance each part against the others.
Standalone with on-screen keyboard, or AUv3 instrument inside Logic Pro for iPad and other hosts.
SYNTHESIS
• Dual morphing oscillators (Shape) with Contour, sub, noise
• OSC-FM phase modulation (OSC 1 → OSC 2) and ring modulation
• Dual multimode filter (LP/BP/HP/Notch), series or parallel, with drive, saturation, key tracking
• Two ADSR envelopes; two LFOs
• Poly / mono / unison with glide; 8 to 32 voices
MODULATION MATRIX
• 2 mod slots per destination via radial long-press picker
• 11 sources × 29 destinations including Shape, Contour, FM, Ring
GENERATIVE ENGINE
• 32-step sequencer (pitch, gate, velocity, probability, repeat)
• The Conductor — slow, seeded modulation at performance timescale
• Motion Arp — 5 modes, 8 motifs, 6 action pads
• 20 chord progressions with clocked chord length; degree-mode chord voicing
• Per-generator macros — Mutation, Density, Chaos, Memory
• Groove Curves — 9 velocity-shaping curves with Accent depth
• Cycles — independent per-parameter loop lengths
• Play Notes — record steps directly from the keyboard
• Euclidean rhythm (Bjorklund); Markov pitch evolution
• Performance freeze — latched chords and locked arp pools saved in presets
• Internal tempo with tap; host sync, MIDI Clock, latch, swing

Ratings & Reviews

SpiceCore 2.2.1 opens up the filter, four modes in each slot, and the option to run them side by side, and adds Nocturne, a twelve-preset pack built to show what the instrument has become.
• FILTER MODES: each of the two filter slots can now be low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, or notch. A band-pass finds one resonant voice; a notch hollows the middle out and gives movement a vocal quality. The familiar high-pass into low-pass chain remains the default, so every existing sound is unchanged.
• PARALLEL ROUTING: run the two filters alongside each other instead of in series and sum them. Low-pass body under band-pass presence: weight and definition at the same time, rather than one after the other.
• NOCTURNE: twelve new presets: one after-hours room entered two ways. Five are instruments you play. Seven play themselves — press Run and they develop over minutes. Play over any of them and the harmonic layer answers you.
• Fixes and care: twelve factory presets regain the groove curve they were authored with, and the arp's octave range now returns correctly when you load a preset, patterns that should span two or three octaves no longer collapse to one.
