v1.4.1 — bug fixes, thanks to a reader who wrote in. • LOADING YOUR OWN SAMPLES — picking your own audio could quietly do nothing at all. Worst of all from the GranSample folder in Files, which is exactly where we tell you to put samples. Fixed, and a failed import now tells you why instead of just sitting there. • YOUR SAMPLES STAY PUT — an imported sample could disappear from its pad after you closed and reopened the project. It's now copied into the app, so it comes back every time. • SHARE AUDIO STRAIGHT IN — send a WAV, AIFF or MP3 from any app and pick GranSample from the share sheet; it lands on a pad. We never appeared in that list before. • AUv3 PLUGIN WINDOW — some hosts ask a plugin which window sizes it can handle, and GranSample answered "none" — so those hosts showed a plain parameter list instead of the real interface. It answers properly now. • iCloud samples that haven't downloaded yet now say so, instead of failing silently.

v1.4.0 • PATTERN BANK (A–H) — 8 patterns per project, always ready. Tap to switch while playing — the switch politely waits for the bar end; tap again to cancel. DUP clones the current pattern to the next empty slot. • SONG MODE (PRO) — chain your patterns into a real song: tap letters to build, tap an entry to set repeats or remove it, drag sideways to reorder. Loop it, or play it once and stop. • PATTERNS NOW SAVE — they used to reset on reload (sorry!). 1.2.4 — musical granular. Scale-lock pitch jitter, per-grain organic randomization on size / rate / probability, and a fourth LFO destination for density. PITCH SCALE-LOCK (PRO) Per-grain pitch jitter now snaps to a scale: Major, Minor, Pentatonic Major, Pentatonic Minor, Chromatic, or Off (continuous detune, the historical behaviour). Jitter range expanded to 24 semitones so scale-lock has room to range a full octave — set jitter wide and listen to the cloud arpeggiate itself across the chosen mode. Same idea as Output's Portal — random pitch that stays musical instead of detuned. PER-GRAIN JITTER Three new knobs in the GRAN tab. Size Jit nudges each grain ± a fraction of nominal length. Rate Jit jitters the spawn interval for drunk timing. Prob is a 0-100% gate — each scheduled grain rolls a dice; misses become silent gaps. Combined at low density they turn a smooth wash into a Borderlands-style organic grain cloud, without changing the average rate noticeably. LFO — GRAIN DENSITY DESTINATION The Granular LFO gains a fourth destination: GRAIN DEN, bipolar ± 2-octave (logarithmic) sweep of density. Joins position / size / pitch. Sample-and-hold + density makes for stuttering rhythms that re-cast every beat. UNDER THE HOOD AUv3 hosts gain 80 new automation targets (5 per pad × 16). Pitch scale, grain size jitter, rate jitter, trigger probability, and density-destination LFO depth are all individually automatable from Logic / AUM / GarageBand / Drambo / Loopy Pro. 628 host-automatable parameters total. 1.2.3 — the AUv3 Pro unlock fix that should have been in 1.2.2, plus a per-pad LFO for the granular cloud. AUV3 PRO UNLOCK — actually fixed this time 1.2.2 thought it was fixing this with a race-condition cleanup, but the real root cause was different: StoreKit entitlements are bundle-scoped, so the AUv3 plugin running inside a third-party DAW (AUM, GarageBand, Logic) couldn't see the Pro IAP at all — no amount of retrying helps if the lookup itself can never return the answer. 1.2.3 bridges entitlement state through an App Group instead, so the standalone app's Pro flag actually reaches the plugin process. If your AUv3 pads are still locked after a Pro purchase in 1.2.2, open the standalone app once after updating to 1.2.3 — the plugin will pick up the unlock within a second. GRANULAR LFO Each pad's GRAN path now has its own LFO modulating grain position, grain size, and grain pitch. Six waveforms (sine, triangle, saw, square, sample-and-hold, smooth-random). Run free in Hz or sync to host tempo (1/16 through 2 bars, dotted included). Optional phase reset on pad trigger so re-triggers always start from the same point. Pro feature. 1.2.2 — bugfix release. AUv3 PRO UNLOCK — properly fixed 1.2.1 was supposed to make standalone Pro purchases propagate into the plugin without needing a DAW restart. It worked for most users, but a race in the cross-process entitlement check could leave some Pro buyers with their plugin pads still locked. 1.2.2 closes the race: the unlock check is now write-once-true (it never downgrades on a transient StoreKit cache miss), concurrent checks single-flight instead of fighting each other, and the retry budget covers slow cross-process propagation. If 1.2.1 left you with locked Pro pads in your DAW, this release should fix it with no extra steps on your end. UNDER THE HOOD The AUv3 plugin's audio render path no longer takes any locks while reading MIDI settings or host transport state. Hey, solo dev. Big release. AUv3 INSTRUMENT EXTENSION Load GranSample inside GarageBand, AUM, Logic, Drambo, Loopy Pro, or any other AUv3 host. Same 4×4 grid, same 10 factory Kits, same granular engine. The plugin shows up as "GranSample" under AU Instruments. iPhone and iPad both, ~80 MB process budget. 420 host-automatable parameters cover master + every per-pad slider. Sequencer locks to host transport; tempo changes propagate. MIDI in routes through the host; MIDI out emits NoteOn so pad taps can drive other instruments. Save your DAW project, everything's back exactly where you left it. LIBRARY — UNIFIED PROJECT MODEL Tap the project name in the top bar to open the Library. Ten factory Kits + your own saved Projects, one screen. Load a Kit, tweak it, name it, save it. The red dot next to the project name tells you when work is unsaved; loading another Kit prompts you to save first. Settings is now just settings — every project lifecycle action lives in the Library. No more silent envelope/playback resets when you switch Kits — the full state saves and restores cleanly. MASTER FX A new Master FX icon next to the Mixer in the top toolbar. Global reverb, glue compressor, mix-bus EQ — one tap to reach. Same chain editor as per-pad FX, just at the master scope. Tap a chip to apply, tweak the knobs, save your own with "+ Save". User presets live in app documents — they survive across projects. Long-press any factory preset to duplicate-and-edit; long-press a user preset to rename or delete. EQ + FILTER CURVES The EQ and Filter editors now draw their transfer curve in real time. Drag the handle to set frequency + gain together (or frequency + resonance for filters). The curve shape lets you see the parameter relationships you used to have to imagine. iPad: pinch to control EQ bandwidth. Knobs still there for fine-tune. STANDALONE BUG FIXES — Mic recordings now persist to disk. Hey, dev here. Been heads-down a while — here's what finally landed. CHROMATIC MODE Flip the Chromatic switch, pick a root pad, and the whole grid becomes a chromatic keyboard. Every pad shows its note. Honestly surprised it took me this long to add — it turns the app into a real playable instrument, not just a drum machine. LONGER PATTERNS You told me 16 steps wasn't enough. Heard. Loops now stretch to 32 or 64 steps, paginated into tabs so your screen doesn't get crushed. PER-PAD ADSR (Pro) Proper attack/decay/sustain/release with a live chart you can drag. Type exact ms if you want. Every pad gets its own shape. SAMPLE EDITOR CLEAN-UP New per-pad properties panel: tune, loop, reverse, normalize loudness, trim playback range on an interactive waveform. Plus a LINEAR/GRAN toggle at the top — A/B both modes without committing. THE SILENT-MUTE BUG IS DEAD This one haunted me for months. Run the step sequencer with 2+ granular pads on, and eventually iOS's audio safety classifier would mute the speaker — you'd have to kill the app to get sound back. Spent a real amount of time log-diving. Turned out the main culprit was Debug-build overhead (release builds mostly didn't hit it), but I retuned the grain scheduler, spawn cap, sub-voice pool, and engine-recovery paths anyway so it's definitively gone in both builds now. If you ever emailed me "it randomly goes silent" — that report turned into this fix. Thank you. Also fixed a click when retriggering melodic samples, and sequencer stop now properly fades out granular tails instead of letting them hang. NEXT AUv3 plugin. Literally every week someone asks.
